President Donald Trump was asked by a reporter on Friday whether he would reconsider rejoining the World Health Organization in light of the ongoing hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship.
The question came as Trump was speaking to the press on the South Lawn of the White House while departing for an event in Sterling, Virginia.
A reporter pressed the President on the hantavirus situation, beginning with asking if he had an update on the virus.
“We have it,” Trump responded. “We have very good people looking at it. It seems to be okay. They know the virus very well. They’ve worked with it for a long time.”
The president continued, “They know it very well, not easy to pass on. So we hope that’s true.”
In a follow-up question, the reporter added, “On the hantavirus– Will you reconsider leaving the World Health Organization because of the outbreak of hantavirus?”
“No, we seem to have things under very good control. They know that virus very well. It’s been around a long time,” Trump asserted.
“Not easily transferable, unlike COVID. But we’ll see. We’re studying it very closely. We have very good people studying it very closely,” he added.

The hantavirus outbreak in question occurred aboard the MV Hondius, a Dutch-operated expedition cruise ship.
As of Friday, health authorities have confirmed five cases of hantavirus, specifically the Andes strain, with three deaths.
A small number of additional suspected cases have been reported, and officials note a rare instance of person-to-person transmission.
However, both the WHO and U.S. health officials have repeatedly stressed that the public health risk remains low and that this is not another COVID-style pandemic.
The virus is well-understood, primarily rodent-borne, and does not spread easily between humans.
Despite the low-risk assessment, some media outlets and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus have used the incident to publicly pressure the Trump administration to rejoin the organization.
Tedros expressed hope that the outbreak would prompt the U.S. and Argentina, which also withdrew, to “reconsider,” according to a Politico report.
President Trump formally withdrew the United States from the WHO on his very first day back in office with Executive Order “WITHDRAWING THE UNITED STATES FROM THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION.”

The United States noticed its withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2020 due to the organization’s mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic that arose out of Wuhan, China, and other global health crises, its failure to adopt urgently needed reforms, and its inability to demonstrate independence from the inappropriate political influence of WHO member states. In addition, the WHO continues to demand unfairly onerous payments from the United States, far out of proportion with other countries’ assessed payments. China, with a population of 1.4 billion, has 300 percent of the population of the United States, yet contributes nearly 90 percent less to the WHO.
The withdrawal became official on January 22.
The U.S. had been the organization’s largest single funder prior to the exit.

After Tennessee Republicans rammed through a new congressional map that dismantles the state’s lone Democrat-held congressional district centered in Memphis, at least one furious Democrat is now openly floating the idea of Memphis seceding from the Volunteer State altogether.
Tennessee State Rep. Antonio Parkinson (D-Memphis), apparently unable to stomach the political reality of a deep-red Tennessee exercising its legislative authority, called for Memphis to separate from the state following the explosive redistricting battle.
As The Gateway Pundit reported just days ago, all hell broke loose in the Tennessee House when Republicans passed a new congressional map eliminating the state’s only majority-Black, Democrat-held district in Memphis.
The map, now signed into law by Gov. Bill Lee, cracks up Shelby County and spreads those heavily Democratic voters into three Republican-leaning districts stretching into rural and suburban areas.
A potential 9-0 Republican sweep in Tennessee’s congressional delegation, exactly what fair maps and the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling against race-based mapmaking were designed to achieve.
The 9th District will now potentially see Rep. Steve Cohen, a white Democrat, likely replaced by Charlotte Bergmann, a black female Republican.
But the sore-loser Democrats can’t handle it. Instead of accepting the will of the people and the rule of law, they’re throwing the ultimate hissy fit: secession.
State Rep. Antonio Parkinson (D-Memphis) went full drama queen on the House floor Thursday, declaring:

“If this body believes that Memphis should not have the right to elect representation reflective of its own community, the legislature should explain why Memphis should continue to be part of the state of Tennessee. Let Memphis secede. You don’t have to redraw maps when you let us out. Let my people go.”

He later doubled down with local media, claiming the redistricting wasn’t just about maps, it was some grand conspiracy against Black voters.

This campaign combines two key efforts: the Marine Rotational Force – Alaska (MRF – Alaska) and the establishment of a Supporting Arms Liaison Team – Alaska (SALT – Alaska). These initiatives will address the Arctic’s growing strategic importance in an era of global competition and ensure the Marine Corps is prepared for the extreme conditions of the High North.
The 2026 National Defense Strategy prioritizes key terrain in the Western Hemisphere from the Arctic to South America as vital for homeland defense and strategic competition.
The Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Eric Smith, stated that “the Arctic is a region of growing strategic importance. The Marine Corps must be prepared to operate and win in its extreme conditions. MRF – Alaska and SALT – Alaska are critical to ensuring our Marines are forward postured, trained, and equipped to project power globally, reaffirming our commitment as the Nation’s expeditionary force in readiness.”
MRF – Alaska, under the direction of Marine Forces Northern Command (MARFORNORTH), will conduct persistent, multi-domain expeditionary training and experimentation in Alaska. By participating in Joint exercises like Arctic Edge and Red Flag, MRF – Alaska will provide a training venue to prepare the Fleet Marine Force for operating in arctic conditions.

This will not only bolster homeland defense but also improve interoperability with Joint and allied forces, deter adversaries, and promote regional stability.

Complementing the rotational force, Marine Corps Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) is establishing SALT – Alaska, a permanent detachment of the 6th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER). This builds on MARFORRES’ long-standing presence in Alaska, dating back to 1985. The SALT – Alaska detachment will be instrumental in expanding training and operational activities and will facilitate coordination with Joint Forces, allies and local communities.

More information has come to light about the origins of the deadly hantavirus cluster aboard the MV Hondius cruise ship, as health officials have now identified “Patient Zero,” the first confirmed case, as a 70-year-old Dutch ornithologist who visited a heavily rat-infested landfill just outside Ushuaia, Argentina, just days before boarding.
The incident has already claimed three lives aboard the ship and sparked international contact-tracing efforts across multiple continents.
Patient Zero has been named as Leo Schilperoord, a Dutch birdwatcher traveling with his 69-year-old wife, Mirjam Schilperoord.
The couple made a side trip in late March to a landfill a few miles outside Ushuaia, the southernmost city on Earth, famously nicknamed “The City at the End of the World,” specifically to observe the rare white-throated caracara.
Authorities now believe the pair inhaled aerosolized particles from the droppings or urine of long-tailed pygmy rice rats carrying the Andes strain of hantavirus while at the contaminated site.
Four days after that landfill visit, on April 1, the Schilperoords boarded the MV Hondius expedition cruise ship in Ushuaia along with approximately 112 other passengers.
Leo began showing symptoms, including a fever, headache, stomach pain, and diarrhea, on April 6 and died on the ship five days later.
His wife also succumbed to the virus.
“Mirjam got off the ship, along with Leo’s body, on April 24, during a planned stop on the Atlantic island of Santa Helena. She flew to Johannesburg in South Africa and transferred on a KLM flight bound for the Netherlands but never made it. The crew found her too sick to fly and removed her. She collapsed at the airport and died the next day,” the Post reports.
According to a report from the New York Post, “The couple — from Haulerwijk, a small village of 3,000 people in the Netherlands — were identified in obituaries published in their monthly village magazine.”
The Andes strain of hantavirus is unique because it is the only known variant capable of limited person-to-person transmission, though this remains rare.
Most cases occur through contact with infected rodent urine, droppings, or saliva, often via aerosolized particles when the droppings are disturbed.
A rodent bite or scratch can also transmit the virus, but that is uncommon.
The CDC has classified the risk to the general public in America as “extremely low” and continues to monitor the situation.

On Saturday, President Donald Trump directly rejected a reporter’s suggestion to reconsider U.S. withdrawal from the WHO amid the hantavirus scare, stating the U.S. has the situation “under very good control.”

No father wants their minor son to come home and say that he wants to become a girl.
But if you are an elected official in the Democrat party, you have no option but to participate in a humiliation ritual and support your son transitioning into a girl.
The Democrat Governor of Maryland recently said in an interview that he would allow his 14-year-old son to transition.
The Gateway Pundit reported,
During a recent appearance on a podcast, Maryland’s Democrat Governor Wes Moore was asked what he would do if his underaged son wanted to transition to female.
Moore emphasized that he would not reject his son or throw him out of the house, which is good, but he seemed to indicate that he would allow it. He was given more than one chance to clarify his position but could not get the response right.
This issue is a political Achilles’ heel for Democrats. They are simply incapable of letting it go, no matter how clear the public makes its position. People just do not like the idea of indulging children in this, for reasons which should be obvious.

Another cruise ship nightmare is making headlines and this time, more than 100 passengers and crew members reportedly fell ill aboard the Caribbean Princess during a norovirus outbreak.
Norovirus is a highly contagious virus that causes acute gastroenteritis, the inflammation of the stomach and intestines.
Often called the “stomach flu” or “stomach bug,” it is unrelated to influenza. It causes sudden, severe vomiting and diarrhea, with symptoms typically lasting 1 to 3 days. It spreads rapidly via contaminated food, water, or surfaces.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vessel Sanitation Program, 102 of 3,116 passengers (3.3%) and 13 of 1,131 crew members (1.2%) reported violent vomiting and diarrhea during the ship’s current 13-day Caribbean voyage.
The outbreak was officially reported to the CDC on May 7, 2026.
The ship departed Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on April 28 and isn’t scheduled to return until May 11.
This marks the fourth gastrointestinal illness outbreak tracked by the CDC on cruise ships so far in 2026 and the second involving a Princess Cruises vessel.
According to the CDC, Princess Cruises has been forced to ramp up emergency sanitation protocols, including intensified cleaning and disinfection, isolating sick passengers and crew, collecting stool samples for testing, and consulting with federal health officials in an attempt to contain the outbreak.
Princess Cruises also said the vessel will undergo a full deep cleaning when it returns to Port Canaveral.
This virus is different from hantavirus.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported that three people are dead, and several others are seriously ill after a Hantavirus outbreak aboard a cruise ship in the Atlantic.
Hantavirus is transmitted to humans by mice and rats, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
According to South African media, the MV Hondius cruise ship departed from Argentina and sailed to Cape Verde.
“Hantavirus infections are typically linked to environmental exposure (exposure to infected rodents’ urine or feces). While rare, hantavirus may spread between people, and can lead to severe respiratory illness and requires careful patient monitoring, support and response,” The WHO said.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded to speculation about her 2028 presidential ambitions during a speech on Friday night by saying that her real ambition is far more radical.
During a conversation hosted by the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics with longtime Democratic strategist David Axelrod, the socialist brushed aside questions about a potential 2028 presidential run or a challenge to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
“You know, it’s funny because in this op-ed that Jeff Bezos paid for in The Washington Post, there was this line that you even mentioned earlier, about, ‘Well, as a potential 2028 contender, X, Y, Z.’ And in the context of that, it was very clear that this was a veiled threat, right?”
“This was the elite saying, ‘If you want this job, you just stepped out of line. And we want you to know where the real power is. And it’s in the modern-day barons who own the Post and own the algorithms, and we’re gonna — we’ll make an example out of you,’” Ocasio-Cortez said.
The far-left representative continued, “And what’s funny about that is that they assume that my ambition is positional. They assume that my ambition is a title or a seat.”
“My ambition is way bigger than that,” she said. “My ambition is to change this country. Presidents come and go, Senate, House seats, elected officials, come and go, but single-payer healthcare is forever. A living wage is forever. Workers’ rights are forever. Women’s rights — all of that.”
Ocasio-Cortez ranted, “And so, anyways, a finer point to your question is that, when you aren’t attached, right? When you haven’t been, like, fantasizing about being this or that since the time you were seven years old, um, it is tremendously liberating, because I get to wake up every day and say, ‘How am I gonna meet the moment?’”

The remarks come as speculation has swirled for months about AOC’s future plans. Many on the left have openly pushed her as a future presidential contender.
Conservatives, naturally, hammered her for the response on social media.

At least 15 people were hospitalized after a boat exploded in Miami on Saturday.
Their condition is not known.
The boat exploded near the sandbar at Haulover Beach, in Miami-Dade, Florida, according to fire officials.
First responders arrived to the scene with multiple burn victims, some of them were still in the water.
Some of the injured patients were airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and Burn Center, The Miami Herald reported.
A child was among the injured.
CBS reported:
Multiple people have been taken to the hospital after a reported boat explosion on Saturday near the Haulover Sandbar, according to Miami-Dade fire officials.
The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue said that over 25 units responded to a medical call regarding a possible boat explosion. Upon arrival, fire crews found multiple patients on scene
Due to the sheer number of patients and the department’s need for additional resources, MDFR said that they needed to upgrade the call to a Level 2 Mass Casualty Incident.
A total of 15 patients were transported to a local hospital for further care.
The scene is currently still active, according to fire officials, so no other information has been released.

Adam Carolla is a big fan of Republican Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt, and praised his performance in the recent televised debate.
Carolla noted that the incompetence of Mayor Bass and the other candidate, who is a member of the city council, has made it very easy for Pratt, who simply has to point out what an absolutely horrible job they have done for the city.
It’s not surprising that Carolla would take this position. He has been critical of the leadership in Los Angeles and the state of California for years and was the first person to predict that the rebuild efforts after the wildfires would be a total mess.

Maryland Democrat Gov. Wes Moore said he would not stop his 14-year-old son from identifying as the opposite sex if that is “a journey that he wants to go down,” although he later said he would not support the use of puberty blockers.
Moore, who is running for reelection this year and has also been pitched as a 2028 Democrat presidential candidate, made the remark during an interview on The Patrick Bet-David podcast that was released on Tuesday. The conversation lasted two hours and covered a variety of topics besides transgenderism, including the California homelessness crisis, the Iran war, and gerrymandering.
When Moore was specifically asked if he would allow his young son to identify as transgender, he said, “You know, it’s my son, so I love him regardless.”
“And he’s always going to have my undying love. That’s me, right? I want to make sure that I’m involved in understanding where he is, how he’s feeling, the way he’s feeling, why he thinks it’s important. If this is a journey that he wants to go down, I want him to always be comfortable in his own skin, and I want him to always know that he has a partner in me to help him along that journey,” he continued.

Democrats are so concerned with appearing accepting that they have lost sight of common sense. Children can’t get tattoos for a reason. The same rules should apply on this issue.
