A uniformed Secret Service agent shot an unidentified man who pulled out a firearm and fired at agents.
The exchange of gunfire occurred at 15th and Independence.
“U.S. Secret Service personnel are on the scene of an officer-involved shooting at 15th Street and Independence Avenue in Washington, D.C. One individual was shot by law enforcement; their condition is currently unknown. Please avoid the area as emergency crews are responding,” the Secret Service said.

Secret Service Deputy Deputy Director Matt Quinn held a short presser to brief the public on the officer-involved shooting.
Matt Quinn said a juvenile bystander was shot during the exchange of gunfire with the armed adult male.
The juvenile suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
“My understanding is they observed a print,” Quinn said when asked how Secret Service identified the threat.
He continued, “These are trained surveillance detection personnel out there looking every day to look for just that… and they observed a visual print of a firearm.”
“Upon making contact, that individual fled briefly on foot, withdrew a firearm and fired in the direction of our agents and officers,” Quinn said. “They returned fire and engaged.”
A reporter asked Matt Quinn if the armed man was targeting President Trump.
“I can’t say. I’m not going to guess on that,” he said. “I can tell you that every time, we’re patrolling this area. In every site, we do 24/7, hardcore, whether or not it was directed to the president or not, I don’t know. But we will find out.”

Thousands of Christians have been killed, leaving over 400 widows struggling for survival after being displaced by Fulani Islamic extremists. Photo by Antonio Graceffo.
Driving from Nigeria’s capital city of Abuja toward Jos, one enters the kill zone where thousands of Christians have been slaughtered or abducted already this year. Along the way, we stopped in Miango Community, which is now supporting hundreds of widows and orphans whose families were killed when their villages were attacked by Fulani Muslim extremists.
Gastron, a community leader, explained that over the past nine years, the Fulani have been attacking the Christian community on a regular basis. To date, he said that 1,237 Christians have been killed, while 538 women have lost their husbands.
“But some of them have died after their husbands were killed. Some have remarried. So we have over 400 widows.”
Many of the women were injured in the same attacks that killed their husbands, while most lost other members of their families, including their children.
A number of women came forward and shared their horrific stories. All had lost their husbands, and many had seen their children killed by the Fulani.
One woman was hit by small-arms fire, which left her with a disfiguring facial scar and caused her hand to be amputated. Another woman saw her husband and her children trapped in their family’s home, which the Fulani set ablaze. In each of these attacks, Christian casualties ranged from tens to hundreds, and all resulted in the community having to flee.
According to Gastron, over 22,000 residential homes have been burned, and more than 23,000 farmlands have been either grazed or chopped down.
“In fact, just yesterday, we had several of our communities whose farmlands were chopped down.”
To destroy the crops, the Fulani are reported to attack entire fields with machetes. Alternatively, they simply allow their cattle to eat the crops, and if the Christians protest, the Fulani return in large numbers and kill them.
Christian victims of extremist violence are suspicious of how, in a country where private gun ownership is largely illegal, the Fulani are armed with AK-47s and even RPGs, while the Christians have almost nothing.
Some communities have instituted a community watch program, where a limited number of hunters, armed with bows and arrows or muskets and machetes, attempt to keep watch around the clock, but the need to work limits the amount of time they can spend patrolling the perimeter.
What is more, the Fulani come in groups of anywhere from twenty to up to a hundred or more on motorcycles. The village security guards are therefore severely outnumbered and heavily outgunned, even in the best of circumstances.
With no husbands and no land to farm, and some having permanent injuries, the widows need as much help as they can get. Consequently, Gastron’s community organizes a widows’ support day once a month, when Gastron and other leaders meet with the women, pray with them, and give them spiritual support. When possible, they also provide some material assistance, such as sacks of food.
“We also have close to 2,000 children who lost their parents to these attacks. So sometimes we try to assist them with school fees and other needs,” said Gastron.
However, money is in very short supply in Nigeria, where salaries can range from $15 to $20 per month, and unemployment is extremely high. As a result, over 30% of the population lives in poverty. In this part of the country, over 60% of the population lives in poverty.
“I coordinated that, reaching out to close to 200,000 people, just giving out relief materials as they come in,” said Gastron, who is a kind of miracle worker, making small donations stretch to support a tremendous population of displaced people.
Being Christian motivates not only Gastron but the entire community. He explained that in other countries, there are internally displaced persons camps (IDP). However, in Nigeria, real camps in the sense of those he has written about in Burma, Syria, and Iraq, where people live under plastic tarps or tents, are uncommon. The more frequent scenario is that a displaced Christian community is absorbed into another Christian community.
“We have never had a camp. So, communities that have been attacked, we absorb all the others. They live together, they eat together, and once the attacks subside, they go back to their own communities. So we live together as a family.”
He saw clinging to Christian values as a form of defiance in the face of evil.
“Because the Bible says that true religion is taking care of widows and orphans and sojourners. So my heart goes to them.”
Victims of extremism in Nigeria repeatedly referenced the Bible and demonstrated that their faith remained strong despite the ongoing persecution. The charity resulting from that faith is the one thing that is preventing a horrible situation from spiraling completely out of control and adding to the suffering of the displaced.

Country music icon Dolly Parton, 80, on Monday provided a health update after she canceled her Vegas residency.
Last September, Dolly postponed her Vegas concerts due to health issues.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” Dolly said last year.
“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures. As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!” Dolly Parton added.
She continued, “In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’ll still be able to work on all my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show-ready, as they say.”
“And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding,” she added.

Dolly gave an update about her health in a video message posted to social media.
The 80-year-old compared herself to an old, classic car and said her body needs a tune up.
“First, it’s concerning my health. I have some good news and a little bad news,” Parton said. “The good news is I’m responding really well to meds and treatments and I’m improving every day.”
“I am truly sorry that I’m going to miss all of you that had tickets to see me in Las Vegas. Well, you get on to Vegas, and you have a big time… And I’ll see you somewhere down the line,” she said.
Dolly continued, “I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable, so I’m going with that, and I just want you to know I thank you for standing by me and that I will always love you.”

Pennsylvania Senator John Fetterman is being courted by Republicans ahead of the midterm elections in a pursuit that could determine control of the U.S. Senate.
Accoridng to Politico, Republican operatives are working to try and lure Fetterman across the aisle and bolster their Senate majority ahead of the midterms.
Their report states:

Trump has made the sell, offering his patented total and complete endorsement plus a financial windfall to the Pennsylvanian. A handful of Senate Republicans are also gently feeling out Fetterman and responding to his concerns over the prospect of defecting from the Democratic Party, multiple high-level GOP officials tell me.
If Fetterman does flip, according to officials who were given anonymity to talk about sensitive matters, it will be thanks in large part to his deepening friendship with a pair of senators and their high-profile spouses: Sen. Dave McCormick (R-Pa.), and his wife Dina, and Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.), and her husband, Wesley.

Trump, who knows a thing or two about party switching, has also gotten in on the action. He’s told one GOP senator he prefers Fetterman making the full conversion to Republican, according to a source familiar with the conversation.
And Trump has said, if Fetterman does, he’d reciprocate. In his typical unsubtle fashion, the president conveyed as much to Sean Hannity in March and asked Hannity to play intermediary.

Fetterman has so far played down the idea and maintained he would be a “shitty Republican.”
“I’m not changing,” Fetterman said. “I’m a Democrat, and I’m staying one. “
“I’d be a shitty Republican,” he later added.
However, the report notes that Fetterman has refused to consider joining the GOP; he is not pushing back against suggestions that he may serve as an independent.
The 56-year-old was first elected to his seat in 2022 after defeating a Republican and now serves as Trump’s Administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
Since his election, he has taken a number of positions that have infuriated the Democratic grassroots.
These have included wholesale support for Israel, allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials to carry out their duties and pushing back against the far-left.
Last month, several leading Democrats publicly called for his ouster after he voted to confirm Markwayne Mullin, who was Trump’s choice for Secretary of Homeland Security.
He has since maintained that his vote was “rooted in a strong, committed, constructive working relationship with Senator Mullin for our nation’s security.”

Former President Barack Obama is getting dragged online after using “Star Wars Day” to showcase his ghastly presidential center with woke actor Mark Hamill aka “Luke Skywalker” joining him.
As TGP readers may know, fans of the space saga use May 4 every year to celebrate the creation of the franchise and their favorite characters.
“Star Wars Day” has also become a popular cultural event with sports teams, politicians, and the International Space Station participating.
Obama, though, used the moment to provide an update on the center. But he forced viewers to endure an incredibly cringeworthy and lie-filled exchange with Hamill first.
In the video, Obama is seen bragging about himself while pretending he’s speaking about ordinary people. Then, he has the audacity to claim that his presidential center is absolutely not for his legacy, “but a gateway to yours.”
“The Obama Presidential Center is much more than a museum,” he adds. “It is an entire campus built to empower you.”
Hamill acts like an idiot throughout and provides even more cringeworthy dialogue.

The New York Post reported:

Dashcam footage released on Sunday shows the moment a United Airlines flight struck a light pole and hit a truck as it landed at Newark Airport.
A United Airlines flight hit the top of a truck on the New Jersey turnpike during its approach to Newark Airport, sending the driver to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The plane landed safely with minor damage.
The driver was en route to deliver bread to a Newark Airport terminal.
“The driver experienced a commercial plane’s tires landing on the tractor or brushing the top of the tractor,” Chuck Paterakis, vice president of transportation for Schmidt Bakery and owner of H&S Family of Bakeries, told ABC News.
“The driver, Warren Boardley of Baltimore, was traveling northbound on the Turnpike at the time of the incident. Paterakis said Boardley was able to safely pull over after the strike and contact his employer,” ABC reported.
“The trailer is not damaged, and the bread product was not touched,” Paterakis said.

A United Airlines flight arriving from Italy struck a light pole on the New Jersey Turnpike while on final approach to Newark Liberty International Airport on Sunday afternoon, damaging a truck and sending its driver to the hospital with minor injuries, authorities said.
Despite the collision, the aircraft landed safely.
There were 221 passengers and 10 crew members on board, and no injuries were reported among those on the plane. United said the aircraft taxied to the gate normally and sustained only minor damage.
The Port Authority Police Department and New Jersey State Police responded to the scene on the Turnpike. Authorities said the tractor-trailer driver was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.
