JUST IN: Former FedEx Driver Who Kidnapped and Killed 7-Year-Old Athena Strand Sentenced to Death (VIDEO)

The former FedEx driver who kidnapped and killed a little girl has been sentenced to death.
Tanner Horner abducted and murdered 7-year-old Athena Strand in late 2022 while he was making a delivery to her home in Paradise, Texas.
Horner admitted to killing Athena Strand and pleaded guilty to capital murder charges.
A haunting photo of little Athena shows some of the last moments of her life in the FedEx truck with Horner after the abduction.
“We have Horner’s DNA in places where you shouldn’t find DNA on a 7-year-old girl,” prosecutors said.

A Tarrant County jury on Tuesday sentenced Horner to die by lethal injection.
Athena Strand’s uncle, Elijah Strand, shared an impact statement in court on Tuesday.
“[Athena] had dreams she will never get to chase, she’ll have birthdays that she will never celebrate, a life she will never get to live, because of his actions,” Elijah Strand said according to CBS News.
“You did not just take a life, you destroyed a family. You took a little girl who trusted the world and repaid that innocence with violence. You chose to cause pain that will last generations. You say you found God, but what you did to Athena stands in direct opposition of everything you claim to believe,” Strand said.
Elijah Strand told Horner he will be judged by God.
“You will face the wrath of God,” he said. “I want you to know you are a footnote in Athena’s story. Her name will forever be remembered. Her name will be forever celebrated, and everyone will forget you.”
    CBS News reported:
A Tarrant County jury sentenced Tanner Horner to death in the 2022 kidnapping and murder of 7-year-old Athena Strand on Tuesday.
Horner pleaded guilty to the crime just moments before his trial began last month. The judge ordered that the trial transition into the sentencing phase, in which the jury had been hearing emotional testimony, watching and listening to graphic video and audio of Strand’s last moments as prosecutors made their case for the death penalty.
Among heart-wrenching testimony, the jury heard testimony from both of Strand’s parents.
After prosecutors wrapped their case, the defense presented its case in an effort to keep Horner from being executed. They called numerous expert witnesses to testify about Horner’s mental health and medical history. Horner’s mother and grandmother also took to the stand to speak on his childhood.

Kamala Harris Endorses Disastrous Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for Reelection – Claims She Stamped Out Crime and Homelessness

    Screencap of YouTube video.
Failed Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris has endorsed Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for reelection, claiming that she stamped out crime and homelessness, a downright lie.
In addition to not stamping out either of those serious issues, Bass oversaw the disastrous response to the 2024 wildfires in southern California, which have left thousands of homes still sitting in piles of rubble, unable to rebuild almost a year and a half later.
If ever there was a city in desperate need of new leadership, Los Angeles is it.
    The New York Post reports:
Kamala Harris endorses Karen Bass for LA mayor, claiming she’s stamped out crime and homelessness
Kamala Harris has weighed in on the LA mayor’s race and issued endorsements in several other contests — but refused to back a gubernatorial candidate.
The former VP, who now lives in Malibu, endorsed incumbent Karen Bass for mayor of the second-largest city in the US.
“She has my full support for re-election,” the Democrat said.
The two have known each other for more than two decades and were once rumored rivals for the vice presidency when Joe Biden pledged to select a woman as his running mate in 2020.
Bass, who is serving her first term, was sworn in as mayor while Harris was still serving as vice president…
“Mayor Karen Bass is the leader Los Angeles needs right now. She has done what so many said couldn’t be done — the first-ever two-year decline in homelessness, reducing crime to levels this city hasn’t seen since the 1960s, and refusing to back down when the federal government came after our neighbors,” Harris said in a statement.
Spencer Pratt, who is running an insurgent campaign for mayor of LA against Bass, offered a fiery response to Kamala’s endorsement today, alleging that there is some inappropriate dealing going on here. Would anyone be surprised? Watch below:

Bass should have resigned as mayor after the wildfires. Her tenure as mayor has been a textbook display of incompetency.

Bill Maher and Guest Suggest the Left is Pushing People to Join the Right by Continuing to Embrace Trans Ideology for Kids (VIDEO)

    Screencap of YouTube video.
Bill Maher recently featured guest Dr. Debra Soh on his podcast. Soh is an outspoken opponent of the trans ideology embraced by the far left and has been labeled as right wing for doing so, even though she is basically a liberal.
During their discussion, Maher lamented the fact that the left is pushing so many people to the right by refusing to let go of this issue, and he has a very good point.
It is well known that one of Trump’s most effective ads in the 2024 election was the one in which he tied Kamala Harris to this issue by saying that she is for they/them.
    FOX News reports:
Bill Maher blames the far-left for pushing out liberals like Joe Rogan, Elon Musk over to conservatives
Talk show host Bill Maher argued during Monday’s episode of his “Club Random” podcast that the progressive left is inadvertently building the modern right wing by alienating former allies until they feel forced to “switch sides.”
Maher sat down with Dr. Debra Soh, a Canadian sex researcher and neuroscientist. Soh, the author of The End of Gender, has become a polarizing figure in liberal circles for her critiques of gender ideology and her warnings regarding medical transitions for minors.
“The science denial is so bad in terms of even like pure biology you would think would be acceptable and should not be controversial,” Soh told Maher. “I don’t know that we’re ever going to get back from that.”
Maher expressed disbelief at how a “straight-arrow” academic like Soh became a pariah among progressives. “For them, you’re just some sort of right-winger,” Maher said.
“Because I’m saying that girls shouldn’t be cutting off their breasts,” Soh replied, characterizing her stance as basic common sense…
“I’ve said this before—they’ve driven a lot of people like Joe Rogan and Elon Musk… people who are not conservative people, who were actually liberal heroes for a long time, they’ve driven them into the conservative side,” Maher said. “Because they were so unacceptably not ‘super woke’ just because they wouldn’t go along with the bulls—.”
    See the video below:

REPORT: Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger Considering a New Tax on GYM MEMBERSHIPS

Abigail Spanberger speaks to a reporter – Screencap of Twitter/X video.
Shortly after winning the Virginia governor race by running on a campaign about affordability, it was widely reported that Virginia Democrats were gearing up to create a slew of new taxes for their constituents.
Now it is being reported that Spanberger is considering a new tax on gym memberships and possibly on streaming networks as well. Wehere does it end and how is any of this considered part of affordability?
More importantly, why is cutting the size of the state government not even a consideration?
    The Daily Mail reports:
Virginia’s new Democrat governor teases possible tax on GYM MEMBERSHIPS and streaming services
Virginia’s new governor has teased that she may sign a new tax on gym memberships and streaming services if the bills ever reach her desk.
Democrat Abigail Spanberger refused to give a straight answer when asked about the so-called liberal wish list of taxation opportunities that Democrats are attempting to pass in her state.
Spanberger, a former intelligence officer who became governor in January, has made clear she is looking for unorthodox ways to create new revenue streams in Virginia.
New bills were introduced in the Virginia state legislature that proposed expanding taxes to include storage facilities, counseling, dry cleaning, vehicle repair, website design, data storage and digital subscription storage.
A tax on retail sales of services was also floated as an idea under bill HB978 – which would include fitness memberships and athletic club services.
The controversial tax bills never got through the General Assembly before the session’s end on March 14, meaning that it never reached Spanberger’s desk – but that may change in the future.
It’s remarkable how quickly Spanberger and her Democrat cohorts moved to create new taxes.

    THE MASK IS OFF.
Three months into the job and Abigail Spanberger’s “moderate Democrat” brand is already in tatters.

Mark Halperin and Larry O’Connor Tease Something Major is Going to Drop About Maine Senate Candidate Graham ‘Nazi Tattoo’ Platner (VIDEO)

During a recent episode of Mark Halperin’s ‘2Way’ podcast, Mark and guest, conservative talk radio host Larry O’Connor, teased that something major is going to drop on far left Maine senate candidate Graham Platner that is so bad he will have to ‘leave the state.’
It’s hard to imagine what such a thing could be. Platner has already faced wide criticism for having a Nazi tattoo on his chest for almost twently years, which democrats and various liberal media types are hilariously trying to defend.
Platner has also faced scrutiny for comments on the website Reddit, in which he disparaged, women, rape victims, black people, and the LGBT community.
    From Real Clear Politics:
Mark Halperin said Friday on 2WAY’s “The Morning Meeting” that an NRSC source tells him the opposition research they have yet to release on presumed Maine Democratic Senate nominee Graham Platner is so damaging that he won’t just lose the election, “he’ll have to leave the state.”
Platner is the presumed winner of the Democratic primary despite reports that he had a tattoo with Nazi iconography and a history of online comments that could offend almost anyone.
“The NRSC says they’re going to go so negative on Platner,” Halperin said. “I saw one of the spokespeople say he’ll have to leave the state. He won’t just lose the race, he’ll have to leave Maine.”
Halperin predicted the timing will be strategic: “I assume the RNC will drop some oppo on the eve of the first debate, like that afternoon.
    PJ Media has more:
When will this stuff come out? Halperin has a theory. He believes that the RNC will drop opposition research the afternoon of the first debate, Collins walks in ready, and the moderator hits Platner with whatever the RNC has dug up. The working assumption is that Platner plays the “I was young and irresponsible” card, maybe leaning on his military service. “I just returned from war. I was 22, 23,” Walling offered as a hypothetical defense. “And, you know, these don’t reflect my values now.”
And, as O’Connor pointed out, that’s a terrible excuse. “It tells you who he is, and it’s an insult to the men and women who wear the uniform to say, ‘Well, you know, I was in combat.’ What about all the Marines that came back from combat who didn’t do and say all of the things that this guy did?”
    Here’s the video:

Conservatives have been relentless in their criticism of Platner and his defenders.

For Democrats, everybody is a Nazi except the guy with the Nazi tattoo who hates the Jews.
    — Erick Erickson (@EWErickson) May 4, 2026

Democrats don’t seem to see the irony in any of this.

Democrat Eric Swalwell, who was recently forced to resign for various reasons, including accusations of rape, is now also accused of sending videos of himself in the act of pleasuring himself to various women on the internet.
It is positively stunning to think that up until just a few weeks ago, this man was the leading Democrat candidate for the governor of California.

    From Mediaite:
Eric Swalwell Sent Women ‘Videos of Him Masturbating’ and Other Perverted Messages After Joining Snapchat to Restore ‘Faith’ in ‘Democracy’: Report
Former Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell was accused by multiple women of sending sexual messages, including “videos of him masturbating,” after becoming one of the first members of Congress to join Snapchat in an effort to restore “faith” in “democracy.”
In a bombshell report on Sunday – less than a month after Swalwell resigned from Congress after being accused of rape and sexual assault by multiple women – CNN spoke to “more than a dozen” women who claimed the congressman had made them feel uncomfortable, both in person and online, over the past decade.
Several women told CNN that the congressman had sent them sexually explicit messages on Snapchat after he became “one of the first lawmakers to join Snapchat” and was heralded in the media as “the Snapchat king of Congress,” according to CNN.
“We can restore a lot of faith that people have in their democracy by opening it up a little bit more,” Swalwell told The Hill in 2016 after joining the messaging service. “Snapchat is a great way to do that.”
To make matters worse, Swalwell is allegedly STILL communicating with former interns on social media. Watch:

Rep. Eric Swalwell, already facing sexual assault allegations, was reportedly still messaging a former intern on Snapchat as recently as this month.
Then that intern was asked why she took a screenshot of his chat history.

Justice Alito BLASTS Ketanji Brown Jackson as Supreme Court Fast-Tracks Louisiana’s Redistricting Judgment Ahead of Midterm Elections

Justice Alito during an interview with Peter Robinson of the Hoover Institute.
Conservative Justice Samuel Alito blasted liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson as the Supreme Court sped up a timeline and immediately allowed Louisiana’s redistricting judgment to go into effect ahead of the midterms.
The Supreme Court last month declared Louisiana’s newly-drawn Congressional map an unconstitutional gerrymander.
The high court issued the ruling 6-3.
Liberal justices Sotomayor, Kagan and Jackson dissented.
The case, State of Louisiana v. Phillip Callais (and the related Press Robinson v. Phillip Callais), stems from Louisiana’s woke lawmakers caving to left-wing judges and creating a second “majority-minority” congressional district.
Louisiana delayed its May 16 House primaries last Thursday after the Supreme Court’s blockbuster ruling.
On Monday, the Supreme Court fast-tracked the timeline and Justice Jackson dissented.

Justice Alito, with whom Thomas and Gorsuch joined, blasted Justice Jackson and called her dissent “baseless and insulting.”
    The Hill reported:
The Supreme Court on Monday immediately put into effect its ruling invalidating Louisiana’s congressional map, leaving conservative Justice Samuel Alito and liberal Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson on opposite sides and accusing each other of lacking restraint.
The order speeds up the normal 32-day timeline before the justices formally return a case to the lower court.
Some groups questioned if the lower court had jumped the gun in the Louisiana case when it moved quickly to ensure state Republicans would have an opportunity to draw a new map before conducting this year’s election. Technically, the case remained with the justices.
By returning it, the decision clears the way for the state to almost certainly redraw one of the state’s two Black-majority House districts, which would offer a pickup opportunity to House Republicans ahead of November.
In dissent, Jackson said the majority “unshackles itself” from “constraints.” The court should follow the default rule, she insisted.
It sparked a sharp rebuke from Alito, joined by fellow Justices Clarence Thomas and Neil Gorsuch. The trio, all part of the court’s conservative wing, called one part of Jackson’s dissent “baseless and insulting.”
“The dissent in this suit levels charges that cannot go unanswered,” Alito wrote. “The dissent would require that the 2026 congressional elections in Louisiana be held under a map that has been held to be unconstitutional.”

  • UN Running Out of Cash, Trump Unmoved

UN Running Out of Cash, Trump Unmoved

Photo courtesy of the United States House Committee on Appropriations.

The United Nations is facing insolvency. In a January 28, 2026 letter to all 193 member states, Secretary-General António Guterres warned that the organization faces “imminent financial collapse,” with cash reserves nearly exhausted and outstanding dues hitting a record $1.57 billion by the end of 2025, more than double the amount outstanding at the end of 2024. Unless collections improve, Guterres warned, the UN will run out of cash by July 2026.
The crisis is compounded by a structural rule requiring the UN to return unspent budget funds to member states even when those funds were never collected in the first place. In early 2026, the UN was forced to return $227 million it had never received, with an additional $72 million offset against arrears. Guterres described this as a “Kafkaesque cycle, expected to give back cash that does not exist.”
To address the shortfall, the UN cut its 2026 budget from $3.72 billion to $3.45 billion, abolishing approximately 2,900 staff positions, nearly a fifth of its workforce, and slashing special political mission allocations by 21 percent. Wide-scale non-payment by member states has accelerated the crisis. In 2025, 42 of 193 member states failed to pay their assessments in full, and by the February 8, 2026 due date, only 55 countries had paid.
The United States is the dominant factor. Historically the UN’s largest contributor at 22 percent of the regular and peacekeeping budgets, roughly $820 million per year, the U.S. paid no dues at all in 2025 and accounts for approximately 95 percent of all unpaid contributions currently owed. The total U.S. debt stands at $2.2 billion to the regular operating budget, $767 million for 2026 and the remainder from 2025, plus a separate $1.8 billion owed for peacekeeping operations and $528 million for past peacekeeping missions.
In August 2025, Trump cancelled roughly $800 million in peacekeeping funds previously appropriated for 2024 and 2025, and the White House budget office has since proposed eliminating all U.S. peacekeeping funding for 2026. Trump also withdrew the U.S. from at least 66 international organizations, including 31 within the UN system, among them the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the UN Democracy Fund, UN Oceans, and UN Women.
In mid-February 2026, the U.S. made a first partial payment toward its debt, which a UN spokesperson confirmed goes toward past dues on the regular budget. As of early May 2026, the U.S. has paid approximately $160 million of the more than $4 billion it owes across regular and peacekeeping budgets combined. Guterres has stated that the outstanding assessed contributions are “non-negotiable,” a mandatory legal obligation of membership, and has stressed that non-payment and reform are two distinct issues. A UN spokesperson was blunter: “when it comes to paying, it’s now or never.”
The Trump administration frames its position as leverage. U.S. Ambassador Mike Waltz told Congress the UN has “drifted from its core mission of peacemaking” and confirmed the administration has conditioned payment on reform: “We’ve withheld this year. We haven’t paid any, and my first meeting with the Secretary-General was, ‘here are the reforms that we need to see before you start talking about taxpayer dollars.’” Waltz argued the organization needs to be “cut up” and reformed before U.S. money flows again, pointing out that seven separate UN agencies work on climate alone.
The administration has branded its approach “Make the UN Great Again,” MUNGA. In April 2026 Senate testimony, Waltz cited $570 million in UN budget cuts and the elimination of nearly 3,000 headquarters positions as evidence the pressure is producing results, while U.S. Ambassador for Management and Reform Jeff Bartos stated flatly: “The UN has to stop doing stupid things.”
The administration’s case for cutting or eliminating UN funding rests on documented institutional failures spanning decades. As Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated at the 2026 Munich Security Conference, the UN failed to stop the war in Gaza, failed to end the war in Ukraine, and failed to contain Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The failure in Ukraine is structural and chronic: when Russia moved to annex Crimea in 2014, the Security Council convened seven emergency sessions only to watch Russia veto the sole draft resolution, supported by 13 of 15 members, that would have declared the referendum invalid. The General Assembly passed a nonbinding resolution affirming Ukraine’s territorial integrity, which Russia ignored. Eight years later, Russia launched a full-scale invasion and the Security Council was paralyzed by the same veto.
Peacekeeping missions in Mali, Lebanon, and the DRC have been judged failures by the administration’s own ambassador. Waltz told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee that the UN budget has quadrupled over 25 years “yet we have not seen a quadrupling of peace.” Former UN Ambassador John Bolton, an outspoken Trump critic, told the Associated Press the UN is “probably in the worst shape it’s been in since it was founded.”
The UN has consistently failed to counter the Iranian regime or to intervene when the regime has, on several occasions, killed thousands of protesters. During the 2022 Woman Life Freedom uprising, Iranian security forces killed at least 551 verified protesters, including 68 children and 49 women, across 26 of Iran’s 31 provinces. The UN established a Fact-Finding Mission, which concluded the killings constituted crimes against humanity, including murder, torture, and rape, yet Iran faced no binding Security Council action.
When protests erupted again in late December 2025 following an economic collapse, the crackdown was far deadlier. Amnesty International documented massacres concentrated on January 8 and 9, 2026, with death toll estimates rising to over 30,000 based on hospital data. The United Nations issued statements and took no enforceable action.
Burma (Myanmar) presents the longest-running case. The conflict has spanned nearly eight decades, making it the world’s longest ongoing civil war. The military rejected a 1990 landslide election won by Aung San Suu Kyi’s National League for Democracy and kept Suu Kyi under house arrest. When the NLD won again by a large margin in 2020, the military staged a coup on February 1, 2021, detained the civilian government, and killed more than 600 protesters in the initial crackdown.
The UN’s own human rights expert told the Human Rights Council that the international response “has failed,” and a Special Advisory Council on Myanmar called the UN response “woefully inadequate.” The conflict has since displaced 3.6 million people and produced more than 95,000 deaths.
The institution has also been politically captured. The Human Rights Council routinely seats governments with records of systematic abuse in oversight roles. A UN Special Rapporteur praised Somalia’s human rights record before the Council while condemning U.S. counterterrorism as “naked aggression,” even as Human Rights Watch documented Somalia’s deteriorating conditions and al-Shabaab’s advance toward Mogadishu.
UNRWA acknowledged that nine of its staff members may have participated in the October 7, 2023 attack on Israel.
Against this record, the UN’s response to Trump acting against despotic regimes has been swift condemnation. When Trump captured Nicolás Maduro and removed him from Venezuela in January 2026, Guterres declared he was “deeply alarmed” by the U.S. action and warned it set “a dangerous precedent.”
The Security Council convened an emergency session at the request of Colombia, backed by Russia and China, the same powers whose vetoes had shielded Maduro, the Iranian regime, and the Myanmar junta from accountability for years. The body that stood idle through decades of massacres, stolen elections, and civilian bombings found its voice the moment the United States acted against a narco-dictatorship.
Among Trump’s complaints about the UN is the disproportionate funding burden carried by the United States. The U.S. pays 22 percent of the regular budget and 25 percent of peacekeeping costs, while China, the world’s second-largest economy, is treated as a developing nation across UN agencies, receiving favorable status that reduces its assessed share. China has simultaneously nearly doubled its staffing at UN agencies over the past decade while U.S. representation has declined, placing its nationals at all levels to advance CCP interests.
In April 2026, China vetoed a Security Council resolution that would have forced Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Senator Jeanne Shaheen warned during Waltz’s confirmation hearing that U.S. disengagement risks allowing Beijing to “write the rules” on technology, AI, health, and human rights, an argument that cuts both ways, since the U.S. is currently subsidizing the institutional infrastructure China is methodically colonizing with its own personnel.

Putin Announces Truce for Victory Day on May 8 and 9, Warns Ukraine: If It Disrupts Celebrations, Russian Forces Will Strike Kiev’s Center

Putin warned that Russia will not tolerate disruptions of the Victory Day Celebrations
Victory Day truce may unleash unprecedented strikes.
We are approaching May 9, the date where Russians traditionally celebrate their defeat of Nazi Germany in the Second World War, or – as they prefer – in the ‘Patriotic War’.
Just like last year, the celebration that gathers the Russian elite and a large number of foreign dignitaries will happen under the shadow of a possible drone-missile combined strike by Ukraine.
Not only that, but after Moscow announced a truce on May 8 and 9, Kiev came today with their own truce to begin on Wednesday (6).
Also today, the Russian Defense Ministry has warned Kiev of massive retaliation if it disrupts the celebrations.
    Two men, two different truces
    Bloomberg reported:
“Russian President Vladimir Putin designated a ceasefire for May 8-9, the Defense Ministry said in a post on Telegram. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said there was no coordination with his government. He declared his own ceasefire regime starting at midnight on the night of May 5, saying Ukraine will act reciprocally starting from that moment.
‘There has been no official appeal to Ukraine regarding the modality of a cessation of hostilities’, Zelenskiy said on X after Russia’s announcement. ‘It is time for Russian leaders to take real steps to end their war, especially since Russia’s Defense Ministry believes it cannot hold a parade in Moscow without Ukraine’s goodwill’.”

The traditional May 9 parade in Moscow will take place without heavy military equipment, as a response to potential security threats.
“Putin is scheduled to deliver a speech, while guests this year for the festivities in Moscow include Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, the Kremlin said.
