    Mumbling Joe Biden can’t make it through his speech in Poland without embarrassing his country on the international stage.
    Instead of, “Tear down this wall!”  – We got, “Would be you, would we be, would we the, all of our allies would be united, or divided?”
    Wth, Joe?
    At least he didn’t start screaming at the Poles.

  • IRS Leaked Thousands Of Americans’ Tax Filings; Congress Demands Answers

    The new head of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee blasted the Biden administration for giving few answers after thousands of taxpayer files were leaked to an outside group.
    House Ways and Means Chairman Rep. Jason Smith, R-Mo., sent a letter to Russel George, the Treasury Department’s Inspector General for Tax Administration, raising concerns about the leak of “confidential tax information” and the lack of accountability over that leak.
    The issue began when the news group ProPublica reported in June 2021 that it had been given private tax returns for thousands of Americans spanning over 15 years.
    From ProPublica:
    Thanks to an analysis of its unprecedented trove of IRS data, ProPublica is revealing the 15 people who reported the most U.S. income on their taxes from 2013 to 2018, along with data for the rest of the top 400.
    The analysis also shows how much they paid in federal income taxes – and it demonstrates how the American tax system, which theoretically makes the highest earners pay the highest income tax rates, fails to do so for the people at the very top of the income pyramid. The top 400 earners pay noticeably lower tax rates than the merely rich; and, if you include payroll taxes, a married couple making $200,000 a year could end up paying higher tax rates than a person making $200 million a year.
    The leak may have had political motives, since it was used to prove, as ProPublica put it, that “the very richest pay lower rates than the merely rich.”
    Who was responsible and who will be held accountable are now the lingering questions. Rep. Smith’s letter came the same week that Biden’s nominee to lead the tax-collecting agency took a series of tough questions from the Senate Finance Committee as part of his confirmation process.

    In a different hearing, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told the Senate Finance Committee in June 2021 that she would look into the leak.
    “[Yellen] also indicated that she would keep Congress updated on the matter. Yet, nineteen months after this outrageous leak, Congress, and, more importantly, the American people have no idea how this betrayal of taxpayer confidentiality happened or whether anyone has been held accountable,” Smith wrote in his letter.
    Yellen said the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration would handle the matter, but so far few answers have been released, hence Smith’s letter.
    “A detailed status of this review is necessary to ensure TIGTA is conducting a comprehensive investigation that will be completed in a timely manner…” the letter said. “This leak of taxpayer information cannot be ignored, and TIGTA as well as the IRS can be confident that the Ways and Means Committee will work tirelessly to ensure accountability. Congress and the American people should not have to wait years to get answers.”

    Meanwhile, the IRS is steeped in other issues. As The Center Square previously reported, the agency faces major backlogs, serious scrutiny over how it will handle $80 billion handed down via the Inflation Reduction Act, questions over millions of destroyed documents and more.

  • More Than 200 People Arrested In Human Sex Trafficking Ring In Florida

    A multiagency operation led to the arrest of more than 200 people allegedly engaging in human trafficking in Polk County, Florida. More than half of the victims were smuggled into the U.S. illegally through the southern border, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said.
    Of the 24 victims identified as being trafficked, “14 of these females are illegally in this country,” Judd said. “Did you hear that? Did you hear clearly what I said?
    “Fourteen of them are here illegally in the country. To me the bombshell is 13 of them are Cuban, one is Mexican, all of them came to us through the southern border.”
    Judd also took issue with politicians arguing about border security, saying, “We hear the political 30-second bites about ‘oh, the border’s porous… ‘no it’s not.’ ‘The border is secure,’ ‘no it’s not.’ ‘There’s really not a crisis at the border.”
    In response, he said, “Yes, there’s a crisis at the border. Wake up. Somebody in Washington with more than five brain cells needs to listen to this. Maybe asking them to have five brains cells is too many. Let’s shoot for three brain cells.”
    He said the female victims “all arrived within the last two years: the majority within the last six months, some of them in the last two weeks.
    “They were paying off their transportation debt, being smuggled into the United States to have sex,” he said. “Their family was being threatened if they didn’t come here and do what they were supposed to, to pay off the debts.”
    The Florida sheriff also expressed frustration over lack of border security, saying, “it’s not enough that we’ve got illegal entries… what everyone’s ignoring is the traffickers and the fentanyl that’s killing thousands upon thousands of our people every day. The traffickers of methamphetamine, they’re all coming across that border with the traffickers of fentanyl.”
    “Human traffickers are forcing ladies across this border to commit sex so they can indenture them, and yet we don’t do what we need to do,” he said, comparing the Biden administration’s actions to a home flooding from a leaking pipe. The federal government claims to be mopping the floor, he said, but “at the same time the pipe’s still pumping more water” onto it, he said. “The first thing you do” to stop a leaking pipe from flooding a home, he said, is to “find the source and turn the valve off. And then you mop up and fix the problem.” The federal government isn’t doing that, he said.
    “The Cubans said they came here through Nicaragua,” Judd said, through Honduras, Guatemala and Mexico to enter the U.S. illegally. “Coyotes,” human smugglers, moved them into the U.S., he said, according to interviews with victims.

    Investigators were still looking into who orchestrated their smuggling, by what means, when and where, he said.
    “We have caught the buyer and the seller,” Judd added. “That’s what we’ve done today. But we know the buyer and the seller is only the beginning of the chain. It’s not the end of the chain.”
    Officers uncovered the human trafficking ring during a seven-day undercover operation, “Operation Traffic Stop,” from February 6-12. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office Vice Unit, working with multiple agencies, arrested 213 suspects.
    Officers were looking for “the victims of human trafficking, those that are forced to participate, those that are made to participate, those that are treated inhumanely,” Judd said. “Not only did we arrest more suspects during this single operation than we have ever arrested before, we identified 24 human trafficking victims – the highest number of victims we’ve ever rescued during one of these investigations.”
    They arrested 111 prostitutes; among them 24 were identified as possible human trafficking victims.
    Another 89 suspects were arrested for soliciting a prostitute “who traveled to a designated undercover location to negotiate having sex in exchange for money.” Another 13 were arrested, 10 of whom were either “deriving proceeds from prostitution or aiding and abetting prostitutes,” according to the sheriff’s office.
    Several of those arrested already have criminal histories, including violent felonies ranging from kidnapping, robbery, aggravated assault, and sex offenses. Five were previously arrested by PCSO during an undercover operation last September, the sheriff said.
    One individual arrested was an elected San Diego area Del Mar Union School District board member. Dr. Scott Wooden, a molecular biologist who used to own a massage parlor, was in town visiting his elderly parents when he was arrested after allegedly soliciting a sex worker for $200, Judd said.
    The school district issued a statement, saying Wooden had “resigned from the District’s Governing Board of Trustees effective immediately” and the board is “currently exploring options to fill the vacancy.”

    Officers involved in the operation also seized fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine and marijuana, as well as firearms.
    Those arrested were between the ages of 19 and 68. In total, those arrested were charged with 68 total felony and 308 misdemeanor counts.
    Participating in the operation were detectives from the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the police departments of Auburndale, Winter Haven, Haines City, Lake Wales, Lakeland, Davenport and Bartow. The Office of the State Attorney 10th Judicial Circuit, State Attorney Brian Haas, and the Florida Department of Children and Families were also involved. Several organizations provided assistance to victims, including One More Child, Heartland for Children, My Name My Voice, Selah Freedom, and the Children’s Home Society Child Advocacy Center.

    Beam Me Up Scottie! The Legacy of UFOs and the Presidency

    These last few weeks, hope was rekindled within the UFO community that the United States government would finally have to pony up to their knowledge of extraterrestrials and their visitation of our planet. Those who have seen too many movies (and by those of us, I mean me) anxiously wondered if the government had the tones just right for first contact a la Close Encounter of the Third Kind.
    But, alas, it looks as though our ‘top notch’ military and fearless Commander in Chief have shot down three car dealership balloons, or perhaps they were gifted drones of teenagers from Christmas, or even better…weather balloons.

    While this likely possibility is super disappointing, albeit predictable, I figured in honor of one of my favorite holidays; it’d be fun to reminisce on some of the greatest UFO hits from Presidential history.
    So find your tin foil hat, grab those binoculars, and get ready for things to get a little weird, as most topics associated with aliens tend to get. Cue Hail to the Chief, and let’s get this outer space party started.
    The Founding Fathers and UFOs
    UFOs have been rumored to visit our great leaders since the original and my personal favorite President, George Washington. Many UFO enthusiasts debate the validity of the story that a UFO and an alien visited Georgie on a fateful night at Valley Forge.
    They point to the story that George Washington claimed an angel had visited him that night and told him the prophecy of what a great nation we would become. Clearly, this said angel left out the part about reality television and avocado toast.
    The argument is that this angel was actually a time-traveling alien. But, unfortunately, this story is based on, well…a story. 
    George Washington never claimed to be visited by an angel, but it makes for some fantastic historical romanticism. But let’s not forget, good ole’ George wasn’t the only Founding Father tied to UFOs.
    One of my other favorites of all time had an interest in otherworldly visitors. When Thomas Jefferson was Vice President, he described a close encounter that he was made aware of in the 6th volume of Transactions of the American Philosophical Society.
    The article was titled ‘Description of a singular phenomenon seen at Baton Rouge, by William Dunbar. Esq.’ This event told of a giant floating orb about the size of a house over poor Willie Dunbar’s barn. 
    Too bad Jefferson didn’t have sidewinder missiles back then.

    UFOs or Weather Balloons?
    Fast forward to arguably the most significant UFO incident in American history, the Roswell Incident of 1947. It is easily one of my favorite UFO stories; the legend is that a flying saucer crashed in Roswell, New Mexico.
    In fact, the USAAF (United States Army Air Forces) put out a statement saying that a saucer had been recovered, only to awkwardly walk it back, stating it was a weather balloon. Nice to know that the DOD has kept its communication strategies the same. 
    A year later, President Harry Truman instructed his aide Robert B. Landry to report to him quarterly after regular consultations with the Central Intelligence Agency on whether these ‘UFO’ incidents had any dire strategic implications. Now that is interesting and frustrating at the same time.
    If there were UFOs, wouldn’t they inherently have a threatening strategic implication? But, again, perhaps I’ve seen way too many movies. Still, it’s been my expert experience that, generally, aliens are always bad news. 
    I mean, you can’t think that aliens will resemble the little nugget from E.T.? They will obviously take on a much more menacing and horrific flavor, like the Xenomorphs from Alien.
    While I’m a fairly tough cookie, I’m no Ellen Ripley.

    Bipartisan Experiences
    Two presidents from modern history claimed to have actually seen a UFO. The first one is none other than peanut-head Jimmy Carter. 
    That’s right; he told Larry King that he and 25 other young men experienced a UFO encounter one night on campus when he was younger. He described it as a “strange light coming toward us, a round light.”
    Carter went on to say, “It got closer and closer and right above the pine trees it stopped and then it began to change colors from blue, to red, to white. Then it stayed there for a while. We were all aghast.” 
    Oh my! You don’t hear much about this story when people recall Jimmy Carter. But it doesn’t end there.
    Another favorite of mine, President Ronald Reagan, saw what he described as a “big light flying a bit behind the plane” when flying to Bakersfield in 1974. But alas, still no disclosure.

    President Responses on Knowledge of Aliens
    Perhaps the most dogged inquisitor of presidential UFO knowledge is none other than wanna-be funnyman Jimmy Kimmel. On his show, he has asked every President who comes on it if they know anything about aliens.
    When he asked President George W. Bush, he said, “I’m not telling you nuthin’.” Good for your George; you keep that secret buried deep down inside and don’t share it with a late-night hack.
    When he asked President Bill Clinton if he would’ve told the American people if aliens existed, he said yes. As if we can believe that; come on now, he isn’t called Slick Willie for nothing. 
    When he asked the left’s Lord and Savior, President Barack Obama, he naturally gave a bloated response, saying “The aliens won’t let disclosure happen, you’d reveal all their secrets, and they exercise strict control over us. I can’t reveal anything.”
    Here we are today, if you take reports at face value, our geriatric President is shooting down benign balloons while letting Chinese spy balloons traverse the nation willy-nilly.
    If aliens ever visit, I hope they beam me up and take me away because they’ve got to have better sense than some of the jokers we have behind the wheel here.

    Popular podcast host Joe Rogan heavily criticized Pete Buttigieg after the Transportation Secretary complained about too many white people working in the construction industry, noting hiring based on diversity can lead to “disasters.”
    Buttigieg last week focused on alleged racial inequality in construction sites during an appearance at the National Association of Counties Conference.
    “We have heard way too many stories from generations past of infrastructure where you got a neighborhood, often a neighborhood of color that finally sees the project come to them,” he explained.
    “But everyone in the hard hats on that project looking like, you know, — doing the good paying jobs – don’t look like they came from anywhere near the neighborhood,” Buttigieg asserted.

    Joe Rogan Blasts Buttigieg For Racially Charged Comments
    Joe Rogan responded to Buttigieg’s comments and focused on this month’s train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, an environmental disaster that released toxic chemicals into the air, onto the ground, and into the water of that community.
    “Do you know that he [Buttigieg] gave a speech the other day about how there’s too many White people working in construction sites?” Rogan asked guest Bridget Phetasy.
    “Where these construction sites are set up in these communities, where the people in the community can benefit from it.”
    Rogan said that Buttigeg’s comment “shows a profound lack of understanding of skilled labor.”
    “Like, you have to hire people that are really good at that, and if they don’t exist in that community, you have to hire them from outside that community,” he explained.
    “That’s why those unions are important, that’s why it’s important that, look if you see what happens when you have unskilled labor and unskilled people working on buildings, you have fucking disasters.”

    Rogan: Train Derailment is a Colossal Failure
    Rogan went on to describe the Ohio train derailment as a “colossal failure” for the Department of Transportation.
    Buttigieg’s response – or lack thereof – has led to criticism on both sides of the political aisle and calls for his resignation.
    The Transportation Secretary was heavily mocked not just for the comments on white construction workers themselves, but the fact that he ignored the train derailment during that same appearance.

    The Daily Mail reports that Buttigieg “took ten days to say anything in response to the accident and even then appeared to shift some of the blame onto the Trump administration.”
    When he did finally talk about the toxic train derailment, his words made things infinitely worse. Here he is downplaying it as just one of many derailments.

    If you need proof of Rogan’s claim that diversity hires can lead to “fucking disasters,” one only needs to look at Pete Buttigieg, a man specifically appointed to a role in which he had no experience, no knowledge, based on his sexual orientation.
    He is one of many Biden administration diversity hires, and he has been an absolute disaster.

  • Georgia State Senator Uses ‘Uncle Tom’ Slur, Claims Ignorance on Origin of the Term

    The Democratic Party has a predictable formula for dealing with people in the Republican Party that they believe should fall in line with the left based on physical attributes. Therefore, if you are a gay Republican, you are a traitor to your fellow homosexuals.
    If you are a Republican woman, you are a traitor to your sex and probably brainwashed by Christianity and your overbearing husband. And finally, if you are a black Republican, you are a traitor to your race and often called an ‘Uncle Tom.’
    Even Supreme Court Justices aren’t immune to this sort of treatment, as illustrated in the Georgia state Senate this week. In an act of sheer ignorance, Georgia state Senator Emanuel Jones called Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas an ‘Uncle Tom.’

    What could cause such vitriol to spew forth for Justice Thomas? A Republican-led proposal to place a statue of the Georgia native on the state Capitol grounds.
    The debate on this proposal prompted Senator Emanuel Jones to protest, saying “We cannot avoid that conversation so I’m not going to avoid it either.” What conversation might that be?
    “In the black community we have an expression – and I don’t want to use this label too deeply here because I’m just trying to tell you what we have in the African American community when we talk about a person of color that goes back historically to the days of slavery and that person betraying his own community – we have a term in the black community.”
    That’s quite the build-up. So what is this term, Senator Jones? “That term that we use is called ‘Uncle Tom,’” he continued.
    Ah, there it is, right on time, the insult against a man based on his political views focused on the color of his skin. 
    I believe we have a term for that in the overall community; it’s called racist. But this isn’t the best part; Senator Jones goes on to say:
    “And ‘Uncle Tom’ is a – either fictional or non-fictional character, I don’t really know the origin of ‘Uncle Tom’ – but it talks about a person who, back during the days of slavery, sold his soul to the slave masters.”
    At least he admits publicly that he hasn’t a clue what he’s talking about.

    In the same breath that he says he doesn’t know the origin of “Uncle Tom,” he uses it to describe Clarence Thomas for having the audacity to have his own beliefs.

    A Quick Cliff Note
    It always bothers me when people, and let’s be honest, most of the time it’s African Americans referring to other African Americans as ‘Uncle Tom’ use this epithet. For numerous reasons, this should make people uncomfortable if not because it lacks class and is racist.
    But what bothers me the most is the epithet doesn’t make sense. I’m an avid reader, and unlike most people who use the term ‘Uncle Tom,’ I’ve actually read Harriet Beecher Stowe’s 1852 classic ‘Uncle Tom’s Cabin.’ 
    Harriet’s book was groundbreaking for the time because it humanized the plight of the suffering of slaves. This was not previously done or at least not done well in literature. It struck a chord with, perhaps most notably, the white population at the time.
    In her book, ‘Uncle Tom’ is ultimately beaten to death for his quiet refusal to give up the location of three runaway slave women. The book was also interesting as Tom is definitely a passive stoic in understanding his situation. But, on the other hand, the three slave women are bold and daring – not something often thought of concerning women let alone black women at the time.
    The actual epithet comes from derivatives of this book known as ‘Tom Shows’ in which the main character of the original work is made fun of and distorted. Adopting the term ‘Uncle Tom’ as a slur is not only insulting, but it’s showing passive acceptance of the same culture that aimed to degrade the original work.

    It’s Never About Color
    One good thing that comes out of Senator Jones’ nonsensical argument is that he brilliantly illustrates what this faux outrage is about in the most wonderfully ignorant way. 
    Mr. Jones explains, “I don’t expect people of non-color to get the sensitivity that we feel about a person of color whose policies and practices and decisions and votes…we’ve rallied to fight against.” Ah, so disagreeing with someone else’s political positions has a different emotional reaction for those of color than us white folk?
    Jones continues, “Justice Thomas’ decisions have certainly sparked outrage among women and not just women of color, but all women.”
    Geez, I mean, I’m a woman last I checked, and Justice Thomas hasn’t sparked any outrage in me.
    Then again, I’m probably just some dumb racist white woman who needs a black man who doesn’t know if Uncle Tom was fictional or not to tell me how I should feel.
    Mr. Jones added, “And certainly, when we look at the LGBTQ+ community, his votes and positions he’s taken have raised outrage in that community as well.”
    Bravo, Mr. Jones; you have inadvertently given a masterclass on poorly using an already inaccurate distorted epithet because you cannot debate issues based on their principles versus relegating individuals to their base characteristics.

    Not the first time, won’t be the last
    Unfortunately, this wasn’t the first time Justice Thomas has been called an ‘Uncle Tom.’ In 2017, Mississippi Congressman Bennie Thompson referred to the Justice as an ‘Uncle Tom.’ When asked if that was appropriate to say by CNN, he said it was because “I’m black.”
    Typical response. Racism is ok if you are a minority but not ok if you are white. The reality is racism is wrong regardless of what color your skin is. But as usual, mainstream media and the establishment Republicans won’t dare call this activity out.
    After the 2021 State of the Union rebuttal from Senator Tim Scott, the all too clever term ‘Uncle Tim’ trended on Twitter. And it is because of this passive acceptance of the unacceptable that minority Republicans will continue to face baseless and tasteless attacks from the left.
    Recently I was accosted by an acquaintance alleging that when I write articles calling out the racism that isn’t from the right or originating from the White population, it makes me a racist. The truth is this country does have a problem with racism.
    We have racist leaders in every industry and racist elevated stereotypes in media that glorify all the wrong things and trash the good things. Unfortunately, our society is too afraid to stand up and say enough is enough. Racism comes in many shapes, colors, and sizes – it is not unique to just one color, group, or environment.
    It can even come in the form of blissful ignorance from a state Senator.

    Al Gore is the left’s godfather of climate change. He has been talking about it for over 20 years, after writing a book about it which was even made into a movie.
    Yet like so many liberal climate change activists, Gore is a total fraud. Not only does he fly around the world in private jets, his green investment firm apparently owns shares in companies that pollute.
    Is anyone surprised?
    The New York Post reports:

    The “green-friendly” investment firm co-founded and run by former Vice President Al Gore, 74, owns a portfolio of more than $26 billion worth of shares in nearly two dozen companies that were found to have increased greenhouse gas emissions in recent years, according to a report.
    Gore, whose Oscar-winning film “An Inconvenient Truth” cemented his status as the most prominent doomsayer on climate change, chairs the London-based Generation Investment Management, which touts a “stated emphasis on sustainable investment options.”
    But a recent analysis by Bloomberg News found that Generation’s Global Equity fund, which numbers a total of 42 companies, includes 18 firms which emitted increasingly more greenhouse gases annually between 2015 and 2021.
    Bloomberg ranked Generation, which has $40.4 billion worth of assets under its management, as among the companies that owned the greatest share of greenhouse gas-emitting firms when compared to other funds that placed a priority on so-called ESG — environmental, social and governance — investing.

    It’s difficult to imagine how the optics of Biden’s trip to Ukraine on Presidents’ Day could be worse.
    As people in Ohio are suffering, Biden visited a foreign country. It doesn’t just look bad, it’s downright insulting.
    The liberal media however, thought this was a big win for Biden. They are really this out of touch with the American people.
    NewsBusters reports:
    Networks Get Weak Knees for Biden’s ‘Secret’ & ‘Historic’ Trip to Ukraine
    On Monday night, the three evening network broadcasts went ga-ga over President Biden’s “historic” trip to Ukraine. Each of the three networks (ABC’s World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, & NBC Nightly News) got weak-kneed over the trip and made no snide comments or said anything at all negative about Biden or his Ukraine visit. This is in stark contrast to how they treated both former Presidents George W. Bush and Donald Trump when they visited the U.S. troops overseas.
    ABC’s World News Tonight anchor David Muir drooled at “President Biden’s secret and historic trip into Ukraine, a daring act by a sitting president visiting a war zone. And one where no American troops are serving.” Muir added that “the journey planned in secrecy and unannounced, playing out in the overnight hours, and it comes just as the world is set to witness the one-year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.”…
    Meanwhile, over on CBS Evening News, anchor Norah O’Donnell was even more over the top in her praise for the Biden photo-op swooning over the “historic trip of President Biden to Ukraine,” and meticulously detailing the entire itinerary…
    The talking points went out. This trip was ‘historic.’

    Philadelphia, PA- An incredibly disturbing video surfaced last Wednesday showing a group of teens savagely assaulting a helpless man at Temple University.
    The video shows the teens knocking the man to the ground and proceeding to kick and punch him for roughly ten seconds. While the assault in progress, the two security guards present refused to intercede.
    Two brave students then finally intervened and chased away the attackers.

    Much like the rest of Philadelphia, violent crime is an ongoing crisis at Temple. Worse, there is no one on campus willing to protect the students.
    The students are angry and frightened over the negligent security.
    FOX29 News reported:
    Disturbing video obtained by FOX 29 shows what appears to be a random, unprovoked attack at one of the busiest intersections on Temple University’s campus, while two security officers appear to be present.
    The video shows a group swarming a man by the SEPTA station at Broad Street and Cecil B. Moore Avenue and start attacking him Wednesday afternoon, just before 5 p.m.
    Students first saw it on the “Keep Us Safe TU” Instagram page.
    “I shouldn’t be finding out attacks from an Instagram page,” student Allison O’Toole said.
    Student Carmen Dephillippo added, “It was terrible and frightening. As you can see, there are a ton of students. This is a direct walkway to our campus.”
    The video shows the brutal attack ends seconds later when two people appear to intervene, one pushing at least one of the attackers away.
    A wider shot shows two people in neon jackets. Temple University says they are Allied Universal security officers that serve as eyes and ears.
    Freshman Veronica Rin and her friend, Nate, were the two to jump in.
    “Yesterday was a joke,” Veronica stated. “Two students, two young adults that don’t have any experience dealing with public discourse or violence had to do jobs of two people that probably have much more training or experience than either of us did.”
    Strategy talks with all law enforcement, including Philly police, are ongoing.
    “Something needs to be done. I should’ve never been in that situation,” Rin said.

    Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has sent a strongly worded letter to the Norfolk Southern Railway, which is responsible for the disaster unfolding in Ohio.
    Naturally, the letter includes an attempt to blame the Trump administration for situation.
    This incident has shown Buttigieg for the useless figure he really is. It’s amazing how little is being done to help the people of this community.

    U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has called out the rail operator at the center of a hazardous train derailment in Ohio.
    In a sharply worded, three-page letter sent Sunday to Norfolk Southern Railway president and CEO Alan Shaw, Buttigieg accused the Atlanta-based company of repeatedly prioritizing profit over safety — a problematic ethos within the larger transportation industry that the secretary said has contributed to a number of derailments over the years.
    “The derailment of a Norfolk Southern train carrying hazardous materials near East Palestine, Ohio, has upended the lives of numerous residents, many of whom continue to worry about their immediate health and safety as well as the long-term effects of the dangerous materials released near their homes,” Buttigieg said. “They fear for their future, as do thousands of American communities and neighborhoods that sit along railway lines.”…
    “Rather than support these efforts to improve rail safety, Norfolk Southern and other rail companies spent millions of dollars in the courts and lobbying members of Congress to oppose common-sense safety regulations, stopping some entirely and reducing the scope of others,” Buttigieg said, specifically noting the Trump administration’s repeal of a 2015 rule that mandated the use of electronically controlled pneumatic (ECP) brakes on train cars.
