Democrats flat-out refused to support full funding without gutting immigration raids and deportation operations.
Instead of fighting for the full funding, Thune and the Senate GOP folded in the dead of night, when no one was watching.
Thune then left town with a private escort. He was able to skip the long TSA security lines while Americans miss flights.

President Trump on Friday signed an executive order authorizing pay for TSA agents amid the Schumer shutdown.
Trump said he will sign an order instructing DHS Chief Markwayne Mullin to pay TSA agents.
“The Radical Left Democrats, and their “Leader,” Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, have made it very clear where they stand, and that is, ON THE SIDE OF CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS, AND NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

Every single Minnesota House Democrat voted against a bill that would have required age verification on pornographic websites to protect children from watching or accessing explicit online content.
The vote on House File 1434 ended in a 67-67 tie on Thursday, with all 67 Republicans supporting the measure and all 67 Democrats opposing it.
The tie killed the bill.
The legislation would have mandated that commercial websites where 25 percent or more of the content consists of material harmful to minors verify that users are at least 18 years old before granting access.
The bill defines “harmful to minors” based on standards lacking serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value for youth.
It included protections for data privacy and enforcement mechanisms through the attorney general and private lawsuits by parents.

At least 10 US service members were injured in an attack on Prince Sultan Airbase in Saudi Arabia on Friday.
The Wall Street Journal and CBS News reported that an Iranian missile struck the air base, wounding up to 10 US service members.
According to CBS News, two American service members were very seriously injured and eight were seriously injured.
The Wall Street Journal reported:
Ten American servicemembers were wounded in an Iranian attack on the Prince Sultan air base in Saudi Arabia Friday, according to multiple U.S. and Arab officials. Two of the servicemembers are considered seriously wounded, the officials said.
The injured servicemembers were inside a building on the base that was struck in the attack, the officials said. The attack also damaged multiple U.S. refueling aircraft. At least one missile struck the base, as well as several unmanned aerial vehicles, according to two of the officials.
The missile strike is at least the second to strike the base during the war against Iran. Five refueling aircraft were damaged in an earlier strike, the Journal reported.
Thirteen US service members have been killed in action in Operation Epic Fury.
Seven service members were killed in attacks on bases in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

The heroes died on March 1, 2026, in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait, during an unmanned aircraft system attack.

In an interview with CBS host Robert Costa that will air this Sunday, Paul was asked about his feelings on the Trump administration and the current direction of the Republican Party.
He explained:
There used to really be a free market/Libertarian wing of the party, and now there’s not much left.
In fact, on many days it’s me in the Senate, the only one left for free trade.
But I think there still is a desire among business for it, and it may make the so-called Libertarian vote, hich might not be big enough to ever win anything, if you combine that with the Chamber of the Commerce and the traditional business community that doesn’t like protectionism, there may be a force out there for a different direction from the party other than being continued to be led by populism.
Costa then remarked that Paul “sounds like he’s running for president.”
“Yeah, I don’t know yet, so maybe they know something,” Paul responded.

President Trump trolled Iranian regime leaders over the destruction of their military and gave the Strait of Hormuz a new name while speaking at the Future Investment Initiative Priority Summit in Miami Beach, Florida, on Friday.
While speaking about Iran’s desire to make a deal with the United States, Trump said, “They have to open up the Strait of Trump,” causing the room to burst into laughter.
“I mean Hormuz, excuse me. I’m so sorry. Such a terrible mistake,” he continued. Then he doubled down that he was serious, telling the crowd, “There’s no accidents with me.”

A former Biden security staffer was arrested and charged for killing his girlfriend in San Francisco.
Nation Wood, 25, was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly fatally shooting his girlfriend, Samantha Emge, 22, on Tuesday night.
According to Wood’s LinkedIn page, he worked part-time as a security staffer for Joe Biden’s Secret Service.
Wood once posed for a photo with Kamala Harris.
“Very greatful (sic) to have had the opportunity to help the VP with her trip to APEC in San Francisco,” Wood said in the caption.

According to reports, Samantha Emge was suffering from a gunshot wound on Tuesday night in a home in San Francisco’s Ocean Beach neighborhood.
Nation Wood was taken into custody and charged with involuntary manslaughter.

A former security staffer for President Joe Biden has been charged with allegedly shooting and killing his girlfriend in San Francisco.
Nation Wood, 25, was arrested Tuesday after his girlfriend Samantha Emge, 22, was found shot with a gunshot wound at a home in the California city.
According to Wood’s LinkedIn page, he was a part-time security staffer for Biden’s White House security team starting in November 2023. The US Secret Service told the Daily Mail that he was not a member of the Secret Service.
He described his work as an ‘independent pre-event site security advisor’ at the White House for almost two years before leaving in July 2025, leaving under President Trump.
During his time working with the White House, Wood shared a picture of himself posing alongside Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff in front of a presidential jet in 2024.
According to police, Wood shot and killed his girlfriend at the home near San Francisco’s Ocean Beach on Tuesday.
