The unidentified driver is in custody.
The sheriff said based on a preliminary investigation, the driver, who was reportedly inebriated, did not intentionally plow people over.
Several people suffered serious injuries.

Several people were injured when a car struck revelers at a parade celebrating the Lao New Year in Louisiana, officials said.
The car struck “multiple pedestrians” Saturday afternoon at the corner of Savannakhet and Melancon Road in New Iberia, the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office told NBC News.
A Louisiana Lao New Year event celebrating the Buddhist new year was underway at the time.
“Several individuals sustained injuries, some of which are believed to be serious,” the sheriff’s office said.
The driver is in custody, the sheriff’s office said, without disclosing their name.
“Sharon and I are praying for all those affected, and are grateful for the first responders who have responded to the scene,” Governor Landry said.

President Trump kept his commitment to the American people to secure the border upon resuming office in January 2025. Illegal crossings are down over 99 percent.
The previous four years under the Biden regime resulted in an estimated 15 million illegal aliens entering the United States. The invitation of an open border resulted in nothing short of a disaster for our great nation.
Great law enforcement agencies like the Texas DPS work hard every day to find and arrest illegal aliens and the smugglers transporting them.
DPS troopers in Cameron County went on a high-speed chase with a smuggler carrying illegal aliens. In addition to that, the smuggler had three bundles of marijuana weighing around 145 pounds.
The smuggler, driving a white Ford Escape, was eventually forced to stop when the DPS trooper used a PIT maneuver. After the vehicle came to a stop, numerous people fled on foot.
The driver, Anna Lilia Arriaga, and her passenger, Dilon Butler, both from Texas, were arrested for evading arrest, smuggling illegal aliens, and possession of marijuana. The illegal aliens, who had crossed the Rio Grande, were caught and handed over to the Border Patrol.

Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), who infamously became criminal illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s greatest champion, shared a sob story about a supposed “asylum seeker” named Ever Alvarenga Rios that later blew up in his face.
As WMAR reports, an attorney for Rios alleged that his client was driving in Highlandtown Thursday morning when agents supposedly “violently rear-ended” his vehicle and proceeded to take him into custody.
Rios was later hospitalized with injuries to his head, chest, back, and hands.
“I think this is probably the most egregious case that I’ve seen in terms of causing physical bodily injury to the person involved,” Rios’s attorney, Adam Crandell, said. “It’s disturbing, to say the least, that this is how ICE appears to be choosing to interact.”
Crandell went on to state that ICE agents are refusing to allow him or any other people to visit Rios.
Initially, we were told that it was a medical issue that he needed to be stabilized before he could accept visitors or any type of legal visit. Then the story changed and we were told today that there was an issue with the paperwork,” Crandell claimed. “Even more recently, I was told that so long as he remains hospitalized, ICE will not allow us access to him.”
On Saturday morning, Van Hollen took the opportunity to regurgitate Alvarenga’s attorneys’ talking points and to smear ICE agents as “endangering our communities and violating the Constitution.”
“Ever Alvarenga, an asylum seeker, was driving to work Thursday morning when he was rear-ended by an ICE vehicle,” Van Hollen wrote. “He is still in the hospital after suffering significant injuries to his head, chest, back, & hands.”
“After the accident, he was detained & ICE now refuses to allow his attorneys to meet with him privately, a clear denial of the due process rights afforded to all under our Constitution,” he added.
“ICE tactics are endangering our communities & violating the Constitution.”

But the DHS blew up this silly sob story later in the afternoon by revealing that Rios was not an asylum seeker but an illegal alien from Honduras who had had a final deportation order since 2018.
Moreover, the authorities did not maliciously rear-end him. Instead, Rios engaged them in a high-speed chase before slamming on his brakes and causing a multi-car pileup.
Then, he attempted to run away on foot before being arrested.

An illegal alien criminal in Long Island, NY, was arrested at the end of last month for allegedly kidnapping a 4-year-old girl from a laundromat.
Local police arrested 38-year-old Carlos Corte, an illegal alien from Ecuador, and charged him with kidnapping. Shockingly, he was then released with an ankle monitor to track him.
Fortunately, the 4-year-old girl was found safe.
According to authorities, a mother was at a local laundromat with her two kids when the little girl was escorted out of a door by Corte.
The alleged kidnapping happened last Saturday, a little after noon.
ABC 7 News NY Reported:
PATCHOGUE (WABC) — A man was arrested and accused of kidnapping a 4-year-old girl on Long Island, sparking a desperate search, police said.
The little girl was found safe.
Carlos Corte, 38, was arrested in Patchogue after allegedly kidnapping a girl from Laundry Kingdom, police said.
“Court documents revealed that Corte took ‘her to a second location without the authority or permission of her parents, thus causing a substantial risk of danger to her life or health,’” ABC 7 News NY Reported.
The little girl was found at a kids’ play area at the local library, which was in a nearby shopping center.
Library staff noticed something was wrong and contacted authorities. The little girl was reunited with her mother shortly after that.
Corte was arrested near his residence on March 31st by ICE New York’s Long Island Fugitive Operations.

It is now widely known that one of Trump’s most effective 2024 ads was the one where he reminded voters that Kamala Harris supports all of this craziness. Now Gavin Newsom’s wife is reminding people that she and her husband support all of this, too.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, wife of California Gov. Gavin Newsom, is drawing attention online for resurfaced remarks about giving her boys dolls to play with and even changing male characters in books to females.
“I’ve given our boys dolls, even if they tear the head off,” Newsom said in an undated interview that resurfaced on X. “I’ve given them dolls to learn that care and caregiving is not just an activity that’s reserved for women, but that it’s also an activity that is a responsibility of men.”
She also said she changes male characters to female when reading books to her sons.
“What I have done with both my daughters and my sons is if I’m reading a book and the protagonist is a male, I just change the he to a she,” Newsom said. “And it just normalizes for my sons, in particular, it’s not even … I don’t even just do it for my girls. I do it for my sons because I want them to see that women can be the center of a story, that women matter, that women are interesting.” …

The progressive activist group ‘Demand Justice’ is already warning their fellow travelers on the left that President Trump may be able to pick two more new justices for the U.S. Supreme Court before leaving office.
If you remember the ordeal that the left put the country through when Justice Kavanaugh was being confirmed, you have an idea of what the left would do if Trump got to pick not one, but two more judges for the court. The term ‘meltdown’ doesn’t even begin to cover it.
It would be funny though, especially after all of the left’s talk about packing the court.

US Coast Guard rescues 3 federal agents and 2 boaters after vessels capsize near Isla de Cabras in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico
The US Coast Guard said three federal agents and two boaters were rescued after capsizing in rough waters near Isla de Cabras in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday. 
The US Coast Guard and Puerto Rico Police Joint Forces of Rapid Action air crews executed the mission.
Video released by Coast Guard Southeast shows the stranded persons signaling for help as they’re beaten by waves in the ocean before air crews come to their rescue.
Three US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents were thrown into the water after their vessel capsized while attempting to perform the rescue.

Coast Guard was notified by the Puerto Rico Police of the capsized vessel at 9:05 pm on Tuesday before dispatching a 45-foot Coast Guard response boat and Coast Guard MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter, the Coast Guard said in a news release.
“A Customs and Border Protection Caribbean Air and Marine Branch marine unit and a Puerto Rico Police Joint Force of Rapid Action (FURA) also responded,” the Coast Guard said.
A “Good Samaritan” later reported seeing the 22-foot vessel with two people clinging to it. The three CBP agents initially attempted to rescue the boaters, but 10-foot swells sank them, the Coast Guard said.
According to the press release, “All three agents and the two boaters are safe and there are no other people missing.”
Coast Guard Air Station MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircraft commander Lt. David Tirado-Tolosa, CBP Air and Marine Operations Southeast executive director Andy Blanco, and Coast Guard Sector San Juan Search and Rescue mission coordinator Commander Zach Geyer issued statements on the case:
“Excellent team effort on this case late Tuesday night, said Lt. David Tirado-Tolosa, Coast Guard Air Station MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter aircraft commander for the case. “The quick actions by FURA and   CBP AMO allowed for constant eyes on all five people in the water and their prompt rescue. This mission highlights the high-risk environment our crews, federal, and local partners face every time they respond to a search and rescue. We are very glad everyone made it home safely, as this could have easily had a different outcome. I encourage everyone to check the weather before heading out; the next couple of days will not be safe for small vessels or swimmers on the north shore.”
“I am incredibly grateful for the swift and courageous actions of all the agencies involved in Tuesday’s rescue, especially our partners at the U.S. Coast Guard and Puerto Rico Police,” said Andy Blanco, CBP Air and Marine Operations Southeast executive director. “Their outstanding coordination, expertise, and rapid response were instrumental in ensuring the safe recovery of our agents and the boaters. This successful rescue is a powerful reminder of the risks our crews face every day, and of the strength and importance of our partnerships in safeguarding our maritime communities.”
“This case highlights the dangers facing rescue professionals coming to the aide of mariners peril,” said Cmdr. Zach Geyer, Coast Guard Sector San Juan Search and Rescue mission coordinator for the case. “The responding CBP asset crew exemplified the courageous effort our federal and local responders make in a deliberate and calculated risk decision to save two individuals in immediate danger of death. FBI arrests healthcare fraudsters in Los Angeles – April 2, 2026
The Trump Administration’s fraud task force, led by Vice President JD Vance, revealed on Thursday that it has identified and suspended 221 fraudulent hospice and healthcare providers. 
According to Fox News, the massive progress comes after just 70 providers were initially suspended last week.
But it’s not stopping there.
“We expect this number to grow much, much higher in the coming weeks,” a senior Administration official said.
“The Administration’s War on Fraud once again yields results as more suspensions take place and fraudsters face justice for ripping off hard-working Americans and stealing their tax dollars and social services,” a spokesperson for Vance said. “The Vice President and his task force are proud of these latest figures and expect to see this number continue to grow dramatically.”
As The Gateway Pundit reported, federal authorities raided several healthcare providers in Southern California on Thursday for defrauding Medicare.
FBI Los Angeles posted footage of agents arresting the fraudsters, writing, “Early this morning, the FBI and partners arrested 8 of 15 defendants charged in connection with 9 separate health care fraud investigations focusing on hospice fraud and other schemes. The arrests were made in and around Los Angeles County, as well as in Court d’Alene, Idaho. Some of the defendants are health care professionals, including nurses, a psychologist and a chiropractor. Losses to taxpayers exceed $50 million.”

The DOJ announced that “Eight defendants, including three nurses, a chiropractor, and a psychologist, have been arrested on federal charges that they schemed to defraud the nation’s health care system out of more than $50 million.” This includes arrests for Medicare hospice care fraud, private health care plan fraud, and immigration health care fraud.
