U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop is leveraging Twitter to expose how the company worked with the FBI to silence free speech, the latest in a series of his recent posts that have gained significant social media attention.
“The FBI sought to silence constitutionally protected speech & access internal Twitter data to further their spying & censorship regime,” the North Carolina Republican posted Thursday, along with a video clip from a recent House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing. “The Twitter Files only tell part of the story. How much did the FBI pressure other social media platforms, ones w/ even more users & influence?”
The Twitter files refer to thousands of internal Twitter documents exposed by CEO Elon Musk and journalists Matt Taibbi, Bari Weiss and others that expose how the company handled numerous issues. This includes its moderation process for a New York Post article on the Hunter Biden laptop controversy; shadow banning; Donald Trump’s suspension from the platform; and FBI communications with the company’s Trust and Safety Team.

The video posted by Bishop on Thursday featured testimony from George Washington University professor Jonathan Turley, a nationally recognized constitutional law scholar.
“The question that gets at me is this,” Bishop says in the 1 minute, 52-second video clip of the committee hearing. “How could the FBI, which is sworn to protect the Constitution, ever justify using intense application of its resources, agents, etcetera, to urge social media platforms to use those standards to take down speech the Constitution protects?”
Turley replied that aside from the legal issues, there’s bigger questions at play.
“It’s a particularly ominous thing to have the chief law enforcement agency performing this role, an agency with incredible powers,” he said. “Here you had the government itself looking for citizens who should be silenced and targeted. That’s a problem in and of itself, whether it also triggers an agency relationship.
“Do we want to go back to the day when governments created those types of lists?” Turley questioned.
Bishop’s post generated more than 70,000 views, with over 1,800 likes and 660 retweets in about 17 hours.
One of his many Dec. 20 tweets about the 4,155 page, $1.7 trillion spending bill now has more than 24 million views. That was the tweet telling the world he and his team were reading the bill and would post “some of the most egregious provisions.” Subsequent tweets generated hundreds of thousands to more than 1 million views each.
One of the follow-ups said, “The omnibus contains over $15 billion in earmarks. That’s nearly 700 extra pages – with over 7,000 total earmarks from BOTH parties.”

A Jan. 10 tweet, on Friday, was pinned on the congressman’s page. It says the “The Deep State is on notice,” referring to House Resolution 12 calling for a probe of the U.S. government and private companies collecting and sharing information. Late in the day, it had garnered more than 500,000 views.
Other Bishop posts to Twitter in recent weeks have also been popular. A Jan. 2 tweet asked why congressmen didn’t get Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s rules package at least 72 hours in advance. McCarthy infamously needed 15 rounds of voting to become speaker of the chamber.
A post that panned President Joe Biden’s State of the Union on Tuesday generated more than 41,000 views and nearly 850 likes: “This meeting could’ve been an email,” Bishop wrote.

National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby has announced that the US Military has shot down a “high altitude object” that was within US airspace over Alaska within the last 24 hours.
“So I can confirm that the Department of Defense was tracking a high altitude object over Alaska airspace in the last 24 hours,” said Kirby. “The object was flying at an altitude of 40,000 feet and posed a reasonable threat to the safety of civilian flight. Out of an abundance of caution at the recommendation of the Pentagon, President Biden ordered the military to down the object.”
According to Kirby, the Unidentified Ariel Phenomenon (UAP) did not breach US airspace but came from within. Recovery efforts are being planned but will be difficult since the waters the debris landed in are frozen.
When asked by a member of the press if it was perhaps another Chinese spy balloon, Kirby stated that the UAP was “much smaller” than the previous Chinese spy balloon, and was around the “size of a small car.” He also stated it did not carry a “significant payload”

An Administration Under Pressure
The downing of this UAP comes at a time when the Biden White House is already under scrutiny after the recent Chinese spy balloon, which traveled across the country for a week until it was shot down outside of North Carolina over the Atlantic Ocean, was allowed to travel across the country undeterred for so long.
While the Chinese government said the balloon was, according to The Post Millennial, “a civilian weather vessel” which “accidentally” entered US airspace, the Pentagon has confirmed the balloon was in fact gathering information as part of a intelligence gathering program by the Chinese government that the US has apparently known about for years.

China’s Foreign Ministry, in response to their downed balloon, stated that “The Chinese side has clearly asked the US side to properly handle the matter in a calm, professional and restrained manner. Under such circumstances, the US use of force is a clear overreaction and a serious violation of international practice.”
The spy balloon was described as being “the size of three school busses” and flew roughly 60,000 feet in the air, therefore not similar to the size or altitude of the downed UAP over Alaska
At this time, the Pentagon has not released further details as to the nation of origin, whether it was unnamed or not, or any other information that was not initially conveyed by Kirby.
According to a report from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in early January, since March of 2021 there have been over 350 UAP reports from within the United States that the Pentagon was aware of.

Sixteen attorneys general are urging members of Congress to modify, clarify, and rescind an emergency-use authorization authority still being used by federal agencies to mandate coronavirus-related policies.
The letter sent at the end of January to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy and House Committee on Energy & Commerce Chair Cathy McMorris Rogers, both Republicans, relates to curtailing the authority of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Food and Drug Administration.
The AGs have requested that Congress override existing emergency-use authorization policies still in effect and to conduct rigorous oversight to establish what mistakes were made related to current and past implementation of the federal authority. They also asked Congress to “consider revising the liability protections provided by a prior Congress, and confirm what President [Joe] Biden has admitted and what the American people in their sound judgment know: any valid grounds for claiming a state of medical emergency due to COVID have ended; normalcy and the rule of law must be restored.”
Led by Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, the coalition represents the states of Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who has sued the administration over its COVID-related mandates, said the Biden administration “has attempted to use the pandemic as a pretext for instituting a number of unrelated left-wing policy objectives. HHS and FDA have also abused the emergency powers to force vaccine injections, which can have severe, adverse side effects on young children and healthy adults even though they are the least likely to be impacted by Covid-19.”
The attorneys general argue that HHS and FDA continue to misuse the authority granted to them for times of emergency, specifically relying on emergency powers “to justify numerous uses of novel vaccines that are not only failing to halt the transmission of COVID but are also exposing young people (who are least likely to be harmed by COVID) to unnecessary risks,” the letter states. “Shockingly,” they write, “the FDA is still invoking its emergency use authorization authority to push [COVID-19] vaccines out to infants.”
The agencies are doing so after Biden said “the pandemic is over” last September. He told 60 Minutes, “the pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lot of work on it. But the pandemic is over. If you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape, and so I think it’s changing …”
He made the remarks after his administration had sought for months to add another roughly $22 billion to the Omnibus spending bill to fund COVID-related programs, NPR reported at the time.
Despite these claims, the president and his administration are using emergency use authorization to justify “an unprecedented expansion of executive power.”
“From student loan forgiveness to a moratorium on evictions, the President and his Administration continue to attempt to push through an authoritarian agenda based on an emergency that, according to the President, does not exist,” the AGs wrote. “The idea that we are still in the midst of a medical emergency flies in the face of the facts on the ground. Yet, HHS and FDA continue to perpetrate the myth that an emergency exists to aggrandize their power at the expense of people’s freedom.”

They also called on Congress to clarify and amend the various statutory emergency authority provisions the agencies “have abused in their unrealistic and impractical quest to operate under emergency authority indefinitely” and to “narrow unilateral authority that agencies and the president have during times of emergency.”
They urged Congress “to move quickly” to “override any remaining emergency use authorizations for COVID vaccines, consider reforms to the sweeping liability shield created in 2005, and ensure that our liberties and system of government are robustly protected against any such future attempts at medical tyranny.”

A new report indicates Senator John Fetterman is struggling to adapt to life in the Senate as he adjusts to auditory issues since suffering a stroke back in May causing him to hear voices that sound like the teacher in the “Peanuts” cartoons.
The in-depth description of Fetterman’s current struggles comes via the New York Times and casts doubt on the Pennsylvania Democrat’s past assertions that he could “serve effectively” if elected.
It also comes after Fetterman has remained hospitalized for two nights since an incident in which he was feeling “light-headed.”
The Times goes into significant detail on how colleagues and the sergeant-at-arms have gone to great lengths to aid an ailing senator who has found the transition into the chamber “extraordinarily challenging” due to”strains of his recovery, which left him with a physical impairment and serious mental health challenges.”
It’s almost as if the media is finally prepared to talk about the many issues Fetterman suffers from now that the election has been secured.

Fetterman Hears Voices Like the Teacher in “Peanuts”
The physical impairment mentioned by the New York Times that Fetterman contends with is an auditory processing issue that forces him to rely on tablets or screens to transcribe what is being said to him.
There is a monitor at his desk that adjusts to whether he is standing or sitting, there is a custom desk at the center-dais with a similar monitor, and there is a live audio-to-text transcription service for committee hearings.
He needs these things, according to the report, because at times listening to people is as difficult for Fetterman as “trying to make out the muffled voice of the teacher in the ‘Peanuts’ cartoon, whose words could never be deciphered.”

The New York Times goes on to describe how Senate colleagues have had to adjust to Fetterman’s “special needs.”
Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) experimented with the tablet used to transcribe voices for her colleague and suggested others would “have to learn our own styles with it.”
Representative Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez (D-WA) was initially confused why he had to use a tablet for “small talk” but indicated it worked rather seamlessly.

Everyone Knew He Had Issues
The New York Times report is rather striking when you consider that Democrats did their best to keep Fetterman’s health concerns under wraps prior to his election to the Senate this past November.
One reporter – NBC News’ Dasha Burns – who dared to admit he couldn’t understand speech and needed transcripts to aid him in that regard was heavily rebuked by Democrats and even her media cohorts.
“In small talk before the interview without captioning, it wasn’t clear he was understanding our conversation,” Burns reported months ago.
Burns had the daggers turned on her, even being insulted by fellow reporters as being the one who’s bad at ‘small talk’ while others suggested she was increasing the chances of violence against the disabled.

Now the media finally feels free to admit that Fetterman has “special needs” and is basically hearing the teacher from “Peanuts” when he speaks to his colleagues.
The New York Times also points out that Fetterman is unable to speak with journalists in the hallways of the Capitol, something most lawmakers partake in, and he needs a team of staffers to make sure his technological aids are working properly.
He is not fit to serve in Congress. He needs rest and recovery time. those close to him who are forcing him to serve in the Senate should be ashamed of the abuse they are actively engaged in.

Who else would you want on your show to provide deep political analysis post State of the Union than the “Ragin’ Cajun” himself, and MSNBC did not disappoint. So naturally, Mr. Carville chose to use his words wisely and illustrate his thoughts on the shift in environmental decorum in this political tradition.
So how did he choose to characterize Republicans in the audience in our Nation’s Capitol? He called them white trash.

On MSNBC’s ‘The Beat,’ Carville laid out his credentials when it comes to judging white Republicans.
“Well, you know, I told people I have a Ph.D. in white trashology,” said Carville. “You saw white trash on display.”
Oddly enough, I bet there probably are college-level courses on ‘white trashology’ albeit under fancier names. Carville focused his racist comments on the left’s political wicked witch of the right, Marjorie Taylor Green, saying that the congresswoman dressed “like white trash.”
Oh yes, please, let’s have an old white man dressed in a beat-up polo and baseball cap for television provide women’s fashion commentary. And because he’s James Carville and he can’t help himself, he went on to give some advice.
“She really needs a fashion consultant,” he added. “I recommend George Santos. He could do a good job of dressing up where she doesn’t announce her white trashdom by her own clothes and her attitude.”
Oh my, James, is that a dig at drag queen culture? Careful, you might find yourself in hot water with your party.

An Expert in Hate
Let’s not get it twisted; while he did focus on Congresswoman Greene, his comments were meant to characterize the entire Republican Party.
“The level of white trashdom in the Republican Party is staggering. I mean, for somebody that has observed it for a long time, like I have, I’ve never seen it manifest itself on a level that it’s manifesting itself,” said Carville.
He continued to liken us to rabid dogs stating, “We got a bunch of crazy, trashy white people that are just foaming at the mouth.”
I wonder how much MSNBC pays this dried-up racist to spit his hate on television. Of course, this wasn’t the first time he’s done this in recent history.
Earlier last year, after the midterms, he characterized Republicans as dumb, stating “They have a lot of stupid people that vote in their primaries.”
This week he described us as “rude” and “ill-mannered.” Granted, I’m not a fan of the theatrics during the State of the Union, but this isn’t unique to the Republican Party.

Hypocrites
I don’t recall James calling the previous Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, white trash when she tore up President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech. And let’s not forget back when President George W. Bush was President, the ‘Chorus of Boos’ he was met with during his 2004 State of the Union and the shouting during his 2005 State of the Union.
Was that an example of ‘white trashdom’? Of course not! It was considered perfectly acceptable because it was Democrats doing it.
Fox News’ Emily Compagno had it right on a recent episode of Outnumbered when she said “No matter what, the Democrat Party will see everyone else as less than them.”
“We will never be good enough. We will never be educated enough, good enough, smooth enough, rich enough for Hillary Clinton or James Carville.”
Indeed. It was Hillary who called us all in a strange turn of phrase, a “basket of deplorables.” My favorite was from John Kerry in 2006, when he told an audience that if they don’t go to college, they could get “stuck in Iraq.”
I was actually “stuck” in a deployed location when he joked that only dumb people who can’t cut it in college join the military. Because that’s what we are to them, expendable idiotic fodder.
It didn’t matter to him that many of us joined because we were, as Mr. Carville would call us, “white trash” that couldn’t afford to go to college. Hence, we had to get our higher education by dedicating our lives in service to our nation.
But I guess I’m the dummy with a Masters Degree and no student debts.

A Look in the Mirror
I’ll give James one thing; he was right when he said in his white trash tirade.
He said “I’m a big believer that, you know, the State of the Union, I mean, no one cares. It doesn’t change anything.”
Now that is some expert political analysis. On Fox News’ Outnumbered, former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer took us back in time, pointing out “When Paula Jones accused Bill Clinton, James Carville’s boss, of sexual assault, a fact that Bill Clinton pled guilty to, lost his law license over, and agreed to an almost $1 million fine, James Carville said about Paula Jones that if you drag $100 through a trailer park, it’s amazing what you’ll find.”

Perhaps his extensive employment with Bill Clinton is why James Carville claims he has a doctorate in white trash. Imagine the reaction if a Republican pundit were to use this sort of terminology to describe the First Lady.
Or better yet, what would happen if the word white were to be replaced by the word black, as Fleischer posed yesterday? How is it not racist to call someone white trash?
It’s not, because the Democrats do it and they can do no wrong. I like to think that after 20 years in the military working for ego-bloated elite old men, I have a Ph.D. in male jackassery.
As an expert in misogynistic trash, I can tell you that what you see when James Carville attacks Congresswoman Greene and the Republican Party is male racist, sexist insecurity on display.

February is the month of love, Punxsutawney Phil’s shadow, and of course, the deluge of Black History Month propaganda. It’s everywhere, from your recommended TV shows and movies to your kid’s classroom.
Growing up, I don’t recall heritage months being prevalent. Honestly, I don’t think the emergence of these months dedicated to the rich cultures that make up our great country is terrible. Ideally, during these months, kids are introduced to the history and culture of said heritage which would naturally include such topics as traditional dress, music, and of course, my favorite… cuisine.
However, suppose it’s Black History Month. In that case, the focus is on how to acknowledge your white privilege and the exhaustive search for benign things to be offended over. You can’t even enjoy chicken and waffles without being called a racist.

An Offensive Dish
I hadn’t had chicken and waffles until a few years ago. It just wasn’t something that sounded appealing to me, and I suppose that’s, in some backward way, a reflection of my toxic whiteness. 
Needless to say, I have had the dish, and it’s alright; it’s not my favorite, but I understand why so many people from all walks of life enjoy the meal. Interestingly, a middle school in New York must apologize due to their cafeteria vendor changing the menu to include chicken and waffles.
Their crime — serving the dish along with a watermelon dessert on February 1st, the first day of Black History Month. 
“We are extremely disappointed by this regrettable situation and apologize to the entire Nyack community for the cultural insensitivity displayed by our food service provider,” said Nyack Middle School principal David Johnson in a statement.
I’m sorry, I need a minute; it’s culturally insensitive to serve kids chicken and waffles with watermelon? I mean… you’ve got protein, a delicious sweet treat, and hydrating fruit. 
Did I miss something? Is it just black people who are allowed to enjoy this tasty meal and fruit?
Mr. Johnson continued, “I am disappointed that Aramark would serve items that differed from the published monthly menu. Especially items that reinforce negative stereotypes concerning the African American community.”
Since when is chicken and waffles with watermelon a negative stereotype? Oh, I know, since it’s Black History Month.

You Must Atone!
Falling in line with the February requirement to apologize for things that are ridiculous to apologize for, food provider Aramark put out a statement as well.
“While our menu was not intended as a cultural meal,” they said, “we acknowledge that the timing was inappropriate, and our team should have been more thoughtful in its service.”
Oh, so chicken, waffles, and watermelon are not unique to the black culture? So what is the problem, and what are we apologizing for again?
“This was a mistake and does not represent the values of our company, and we are committed to doing better in the future.”
Values?! It’s chicken, waffles, and watermelon! This isn’t as if the meal was served by cafeteria workers dressed in traditional KKK clothing or with a helping of racial slurs. 
But alas, we wouldn’t be America if we didn’t try to solve a non-problem with nonsense training. So the vendor has agreed to partner with the school district to ensure their employees attend ‘sensitivity training’ to ensure they align with the district’s “vision and commitment to equity-driven work.”
The joint statement on the training said, “We believe this will provide a good learning opportunity to deepen understanding on the impact of systemic biases and negative stereotypes concerning the African-American community.”
What a world we live in that a sweet and savory poultry dish with a side of fruit could cause so much emotional damage.

You Will Feel Bad, and You Will Like it
I remember when these heritage months were supposed to celebrate the said culture in focus. A time to learn about the past, embrace the culture, and look optimistically toward the future with pride.
Instead, Black History Month has become a focus on one aspect of history, embracing the culture at your own peril and assuming all actions, present and future, are meant to and will cause damage to the black community. 
“We need to educate the folks who are in those spaces of doing these things on culture competency,” Nyack school district parent and president of Nyack NAACP Nicole Hines explained, “and knowing that adding these items together is going to cause harm for the students in the school and families and community.”
I’m curious what Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, and the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. would think about the black community feeling ‘harmed’ by chicken and waffles. This is nothing compared to the harm caused by rap and hip-hop songs glorifying gang culture, the dissolution of the two-parent household, and drug dependency.
But sure, let’s focus on fried chicken and watermelon as harmful.

Was this an honest mistake by the vendor? No, I don’t think so, I think they changed the menu on purpose, or at least someone did, and I think it was meant as a jab at the black culture.
Hard to prove, of course, but this wasn’t the first time Aramark has faced criticism for doing the same thing in the past, so all signs point to this being deliberate. The reaction though from the school district, members of the community, and the vendor themselves was ridiculous.
I have a family member that likes to passive-aggressively push my buttons to get me to react. It has taken years of discipline, but I no longer ‘rise to the occasion,’ so to speak. 
The same should’ve been done here. With all of the actual obstacles and real racism that we have to deal with, focusing on something so trivial as a menu change meant to incite petty reactions is a distraction that the African American community doesn’t need.

It is time for Black History Month to get off its high horse and stop embracing the cathartic need to punish those based purely on the color of their skin and elevate the narrative that the black community will always be hapless victims. There is more to this community than the legacy of slavery and the actual negative stereotypes that run rampant in our country.
Enjoy the damn chicken and waffles and focus on real problems instead of made-up ones.
