    Project Veritas Begs Supporters to ‘Give Us a Chance’ After James O’Keefe Ouster

    Project Veritas sent a mass email to subscribers and donors begging them to remain with the conservative media group after a very public divorce with founder James O’Keefe.
    The email seeks to clarify some things regarding the split and outlines some issues that caused conflict and are currently under an independent two-dimensional audit.
    “We understand and share your frustrations,” the emotional letter begins. “We all love and respect James and hope he returns. This is difficult for everyone.”
    The missive contends that Project Veritas did not oust O’Keefe.
    “James’ ‘removal’ was not a removal,” they write. “He specifically said he did not resign, and the board did not fire him.”

    Project Veritas Explains James O’Keefe Departure
    The Political Insider reported earlier this week that James O’Keefe was placed on paid leave as the board of Project Veritas sorted through their next course of action.
    The suspension was reportedly due to O’Keefe’s attempt to fire the group’s chief strategy and financial officers over alleged conflicts over fundraising.
    That issue was front and center of the email sent out to supporters attempting to explain why there was internal strife between the board and O’Keefe.
    “Breaking the Bylaws of the organization by unilaterally dismissing the CFO and co-opting another board member’s vote by saying that board member supported the dismissal (they did not),” was the first issue mentioned regarding the audit.

    Since it’s already out there, here are my heartfelt remarks to my staff this morning.
    I need to make clear I have not resigned from the company, Project Veritas, I founded 13 years ago. I was stripped of my position as CEO and Chairman.

    Also of note, the outfit claims the audit was seeking to investigate claims O’Keefe used “donations for private benefit” and that he violated “employment laws/workplace safety regarding appropriate treatment of … employees.”
    Previous reports have surfaced accusing O’Keefe of running a toxic work environment, with the Post Millenial reporting on “vague charges” that he was “a brutal taskmaster who demanded perfection.”

    Beg Donors to Stick With Them
    The email goes on to practically beg donors to stick with them despite the inner turmoil and the ousting of their beloved founder, James O’Keefe.
    They also accuse O’Keefe of not responding favorably to an olive branch to get him back on board with the group.
    “He has been invited, but has chosen not to, engage in conversations with the board and management following steps taken so far with the goal of returning to Project Veritas,” they allege.
    Even with his departure, the group claims to be “passionately dedicated to James’ mission” of exposing corruption.
    “We hope that you might continue to give us a chance. We can’t stress how separate the board’s role is from daily operations here at PV,” they write. “We are still grinding and pursuing stories of great public importance.”
    “In either case, thank you so much for your support in the past and we hope we might regain your trust if you’ll give us a chance.”

    O’Keefe had strongly insinuated that his forced departure was due to an undercover video allegedly showing a Pfizer official losing his cool, destroying an iPad, and getting into a physical altercation with him after being confronted with footage of his own statements.
    In that video, the Pfizer employee claimed the company he works for wanted to ‘mutate’ the COVID virus to make new vaccines and profit off of them.

    That individual later claimed he was simly making wild statements to impress the person he thought he was on a date with.
    Project Veritas recently released a video response to Pfizer’s use of force by their security to keep the group’s journalists from asking questions.

    “The mission and our work continue,” the email to donors reads.
    Will you continue to support that mission now that O’Keefe is no longer there?

  • Arizona Troopers Seize Enough Fentanyl To Kill Nearly 800,000 People

    Arizona state troopers last week seized enough fentanyl to kill nearly 800,000 people. The fentanyl had been smuggled in a pickup truck and made it nearly 150 miles north of the border, authorities said.
    Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers on Feb. 16 responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on I-10 in Sacaton. Located just south of Phoenix, it’s a straight shot north along highways I-19 and I-10, 146 miles from Nogales, Mexico.
    The driver of a 1989 Ford pickup truck lost control of the vehicle, the truck rolled over, and the driver was ejected, sustaining life-threatening injuries, Arizona DPS said. As emergency responders transported the driver to a hospital, troopers conducted an investigation and discovered numerous packages of pills concealed throughout the truck.
    Their investigation led to the seizure of roughly 286 pounds – nearly 1.3 million pills of suspected fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $5.1 million.
    Two milligrams of fentanyl is considered a lethal dose. According to a public safety alert issued by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration last November, six out of every 10 pills it’s tested contain a lethal dose.
    AZ DPS cited an older statistic of four out of every ten pills, suggesting the seizure was enough fentanyl to potentially kill over half a million people. But using the updated DEA stats, the amount of pills seized, 1,297,000 pills is enough to kill 778,200 people. That’s enough lethal doses being smuggled in one vehicle to kill the entire individual populations of every town and city in Arizona except for Phoenix.
    “Unfortunately, incidents like this are an all-too-common occurrence for law enforcement agencies in Arizona and across the country,” AZ DPS said, adding that its “troopers will continue working hard every day to combat the illegal smuggling and distribution of drugs such as fentanyl, undoubtedly saving many lives in the process.”

    One individual in possession of 286 pounds of fentanyl nearly 150 miles from Mexico, further indicates that not all fentanyl being smuggled into the U.S. is caught at the border. Customs and Border Protection agents are doing their best to seize record amounts at ports of entry, law enforcement officials have told The Center Square, but what’s not known is how much more is coming through between ports of entry that isn’t caught and is smuggled into the U.S.
    Tucson Sector Border Patrol Chief John Modlin testified before the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Accountability earlier this month that Border Patrol agents seized more than 700 pounds of fentanyl in 2022, about half of which was in the field, meaning not at ports of entry.
    “To give you an idea of the lethality of fentanyl, that’s enough to kill everyone in Arizona 21 times or basically half the population of the United States,” he said. Agents seized 52% at the port of entry and the rest in the field after “being backpacked across the border,” he said.
    Law enforcement officials have explained that fentanyl precursors are produced in China and shipped to Mexican ports, where Mexican cartels manufacture them into fake prescription pills and lace other drugs with fentanyl.
    Mexican cartels operate a multi-billion-dollar business in trafficking people and drugs, Jobe Dickinson, president of the Border Security Alliance, told The Center Square. “They’ve developed a multi-pronged approach as to how to smuggle illegal drugs into this country. They don’t just use one avenue, such as the ports of entry. They also use established smuggling routes and remote parts of the border to get more drugs across.”

    A former law enforcement officer serving in southern Arizona, Dickinson has seen first hand the effects of fentanyl on communities and local law enforcement. “If you want to know, if the cartels are succeeding, take a look around the streets in your city,” he said. “Open air drug use is up and overdose deaths across this nation continue to rise because fentanyl is being delivered into our communities at record rates.”
    “Local law-enforcement seizures away from the border have skyrocketed,” he added, pointing to AZ DPS’s seizure in Sacaton. “Over one million pills the DPS officers found didn’t likely come through a port of entry. In Arizona, large fentanyl seizures aren’t just happening in our southern counties at the border but they are happening in our northern counties as the cartels move this product on the interstates, trying to take them across America.”
    To combat the cartels’ sophisticated criminal network, he said, “We need a secure border using barriers and technology. In as many places as we can. We need high tech ports of entry to vet people and inspect them as they come across, we also need Border Patrol agents out, patrolling the smuggling routes that the cartels are using. Our last defense should be local law enforcement protecting our communities.”

    With Sensitivity Readers Adjusting Language in Roald Dahl’s Books, They’re Now Unbearable to Read

    While I didn’t grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth, I was blessed to have grown up in a house filled with books. As a kid, I loved books full of adventure, hilarity, and a little bit of horror. 
    One of my favorite authors growing up was the wildly popular Roald Dahl. While I wasn’t a big Charlie and the Chocolate Factory fan, I did enjoy The BFG, James and the Giant Peach, and my favorite…The Witches.
    The classics I grew up on and loved are now being updated to make them more ‘inclusive,’ which is just a fancy way of saying the late author is being censored to appease the woke culture mob. So let’s look at how Mr. Dahl’s words are being watered down so as not to offend the delicate sensibilities of our society.

    Who are These People?
    The publishing company Puffin announced it would release new editions of Roald Dahl classics without “problematic phrasing and terminology.” The public notice explained that ‘sensitivity readers’ had “reviewed” the language and altered some of it to “ensure that it can continue to be enjoyed by all today.”
    I had never even heard of ‘sensitivity reader’ until this story hit the wires, and I’m still in shock that this is a paying job. So I naturally became curious and had to look into what this job entails; after all, I’m always open to new experiences and opportunities.
    A sensitivity reader is someone a publisher hires to read through a book with characteristics outside the authors. For example, I’m a white heterosexual female, so if I were to write a book, a publisher might hire a black homosexual nonbinary sensitivity reader to make sure I don’t use harmful or inaccurate stereotypes in my writing.
    This article alone has caused me to think twice about writing a book to begin with. Zoe Dubno wrote in The Spectator that these people are the new “moral gatekeepers” of fiction.
    To become a sensitivity reader, you need a resume and credentials like any job.
    Zubno writes, “To become a sensitivity reader you have to advertise your suffering — create and market a CV of otherness, of emotional pain, trauma, credentialising your oppression to enter a victim-for-hire system.”
    You might as well make some money while wallowing in your victimhood. So what did the Puffin sensitivity readers deem inappropriate in Dahl’s books?

    Does This Book Make me Look Fat?
    The change garnering the most headlines is removing the word ‘fat’ from the beloved books, most notably the description of Augustus Goop from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Instead, Augustus is just “enormous,” which detracts from the character’s point. 
    The rotund Augustus symbolizes gluttony and greed; one can be enormous without being gluttonous and fat with greed. Mrs. Twit from The Twits is now just “beastly” and no longer “ugly and beastly.” 
    Why the term ‘ugly’ is offensive, I don’t know; the truth is some people are just ugly. They may be physically unattractive or ugly on the inside, but ugliness is just a reality in our world.
    The ‘sensitivity readers’ adjusted a crucial line in The Twits that initially read, “You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double-chin and stick out teeth, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams.” The line reads almost the same, except they removed the double chin for some bizarre reason.
    As someone who sports a double chin, I take offense. Are they implying that having a double chin is so egregiously disgusting that no good thoughts will make my face look like sunbeams?
    What message does this send to children?

    Just Bad Writing
    My favorite Roald Dahl book was The Witches. I loved and read it so much that the book curled out and had numerous stains from spilled drinks and dog-eared pages – all signs of a well-loved book.
    These witches spend their days hunting down children. As the original work explained, their dedication to their dastardly deeds knows no bounds, “Even if she is working as a cashier in a supermarket or typing letters for a businessman.” The line now reads, “Even if she is working as a top scientist or running a business.”
    There are so many issues with this terrible change I’m wondering if I have enough word count allotted to cover them all. First, there is nothing wrong with being a cashier; many of us started our young adult life as cashiers, and plenty of men and women make honest good livings as cashiers. 
    Second, in their attempt to show that women these days can be anything they want to be because of the progression of time, they show just how elitist this group of ‘sensitivity readers’ are, top scientists? What does that even mean?
    Is there such a thing as a bottom-rung scientist? Plus, why are we concerned about marginalizing witches?
    In George’s Marvelous Medicine, in describing the potion’s effects, the original text was, “Look at you! You’re standing up all on your own and you’re not even using a stick!” Now the text reads, “Look at you! You’re full of beans!”
    What the hell does that mean? If I wrote that poorly I would no longer be writing articles for you to read.

    The Real Point
    Is all of this rewriting an effort to make Roald Dahl more accessible to today’s kids? Obviously not. Children don’t need the new disclaimer in The Witches that states, “There are plenty of other reasons why women might wear wigs and there is certainly nothing wrong with that.”
    To assume they do is to assume children are dumber than they are and care about the same nonsensical things that their far dumber and dimmer adult counterparts care about. This is about appeasing a very powerful cabal of special interest groups and investors who either actively are pushing a woke ideology or are passively supporting the same.
    In 2021, Netflix acquired the rights to the Roald Dahl books allowing them to create series and movies from these classic books. Interesting timing that now there are some rewrites in the works, an apparent move to enable Netflix to inject as much woke nonsense into their series and movies as possible.
    The great Ray Bradbury commented on edits after his Fahrenheit 451 was ironically changed to appease so-called feminists. “There is more than one way to burn a book,” Bradbury said, “and the world is full of people running around with lit matches.”
    Unfortunately, these changes aren’t going to make these classics more palatable.
    The changes will force Roald Dahl’s work to disappear into obscurity because, besides the obvious ideological smear in these edits, the books will be boring. And kids don’t like to read boring books. 
    But perhaps that was the goal as well, talk about cancel culture.

  • Republicans Demand Oversight Of Ukraine Funding

    The Russian invasion of Ukraine hits its one-year anniversary this week, and lawmakers want to know: where has all the money gone?
    With $113 billion allocated by Congress to help Ukraine in the past year, House Oversight Committee Chair U.S. Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., sent a letter to the Biden administration demanding oversight of how those funds are being spent.
    “It is critical that government agencies administering these funds ensure they are used for their intended purposes to prevent and reduce the risk of waste, fraud, and abuse,” the letter said.
    The groups under scrutiny are the Department of Defense, the Department of State, and the U.S. Agency for International Development, three groups that will largely be handling the more than $100 billion in Congressional funding.
    Comer pointed to the waste of taxpayer dollars during the war in Afghanistan.
    “We learned from efforts in Afghanistan that the World Bank does not always have effective monitoring and accounting of funds, and often lacks transparency,” the letter said. “We also learned that unrealistic timelines and expectations that prioritize spending quickly lead to increased corruption and reduced effectiveness of programs. As the United States continues to filter assistance through multilateral organizations with pressure to spend funds quickly, we must ensure proper protections are in place to prevent the misuse of funds.”

    Comer also pointed out that the Ukrainian president recently fired officials for corruption.
    “Ukrainian government officials allegedly engaged in bribery, used government vehicles for personal use, and purchased inflated food supplies for Ukrainian forces,” the letter said. “In response, President Zelensky named a new Minister of Defense. Based on Mr. Kirby’s remarks, however, the U.S. National Security Council appears unaware of this corruption scandal, heightening concerns that U.S. agencies are not conducting oversight of taxpayer assistance to Ukraine.”
    The Biden administration has also handed weapons, not just cash, directly to Ukraine, raising questions of accountability.
    Comer gave the Biden administration officials until March 8 to provide more information on how money is being used and how waste, fraud, and abuse is being avoided.
    “Of the $113 billion approved in 2022, about three-fifths ($67 billion) has been allocated toward defense needs and the remaining two-fifths ($46 billion) to nondefense concerns such as general Ukrainian government aid, economic support, and aid for refugee resettlement,” the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget said in a statement.

    The Congressional Budget Office estimates the money won’t be fully spent for years, even though the funds have already been set aside. As The Center Square previously reported, CBO estimates that three-quarters of the funding will be spent by the end of fiscal year 2026.

    Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot claims she simply “misspoke” when she told residents on the South Side who don’t support her not to vote.
    Lightfoot is facing a re-election campaign against other frontrunners U.S. Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia and former Chicago Public Schools CEO Paul Vallas.
    It is a very crowded field and the incumbent, according to a recent poll, is languishing in third place.
    As such, it appears she opted for a message of voter suppression to give her campaign the boost it needs.
    Speaking at a “Get Out the Vote” rally this past weekend the mayor said, “Any vote coming from the South Side for somebody not named Lightfoot is a vote for Chuy Garcia or Paul Vallas.”
    “If you want them controlling your fate and your destiny, then stay home,” she added. “Then don’t vote.”

    Lori Lightfoot – I Didn’t Mean It When I Said Don’t Vote
    Can you even imagine the 24/7 media outrage if a Republican politician told predominantly black voters to stay home and ‘don’t vote’ the way Lori Lightfoot did?
    Fear not, however. The Chicago Democrat who sometimes moonlights as the superhero ‘Rona Destroyer,’ said she didn’t mean what we all heard her say.
    “If I said anything other than everybody everywhere needs to vote, then I misspoke in the heat of a campaign rally,” she told reporters as she cast her own vote.
    “But I’ve been very consistent all along saying everybody everywhere needs to step up, and they need to vote just as I said today.”

    Another Off the Cuff Remark
    Lightfoot’s remarks had all the echoes of President Biden telling black voters that if they don’t vote for him, then “you ain’t black.”
    But, as she checks off all the desired diversity boxes Democrats and the media are always on the lookout for, she likely won’t see much in the way of political backlash.

    Earlier this week, Lori Lightfoot told people if they weren’t going to cast their ballot for her, not to vote– later apologizing for misspeaking.

    Garcia and several other opponents in the Chicago mayoral campaign, though, jumped all over Lightfoot’s initial comments telling black voters to stay home if they don’t support her.
    “This is disqualifying rhetoric for anyone hoping to lead a Chicago that is a multi-racial and multi-ethnic city,” Garcia said.
    Philanthropist Willie Wilson called Lightfoot’s words “delusional, divisive, dangerous and disappointing.”
    But then, Lightfoot has a history of ‘delusional, divisive, dangerous and disappointing’ rhetoric.
    During the Spring of last year, Lightfoot issued a “call to arms” in the wake of the then-likely Supreme Court abortion ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.

    She made those remarks even as pro-abortion advocates were protesting outside the homes of several Supreme Court justices and the headquarters of a pro-life group in Wisconsin was set on fire while other churches had been targeted.
    Maybe she simply misspoke then as well?
    At least if Lightfoot ends up losing the election, she’ll have a career in dancing with marching bands to fall back on.

    Sarah Palin Offers Advice to DeSantis: Stay Out of Trump’s Way in 2024

    Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin has some advice for Ron DeSantis regarding a 2024 presidential run – It’s not your time.
    Palin offered up the guidance in an interview with NewsMax host Eric Bolling.
    “DeSantis doesn’t need to [run]. I envision him as our president someday but not right now,” she said. “He should stay governor for a bit longer. He’s young, you know. He has decades ahead of him where he can be our president.”
    Palin believes former President Donald Trump has the best chance of capturing the GOP nomination for President, and hinted any challenges to his frontrunner status are foolhardy.
    “When you talk about the specific people, the individual people who are looking at putting their hat in the ring… they got a lot of guts thinking they’re gonna go up against Trump,” she contends.

    In further discussion about the 2024 presidential election, Sarah Palin seemingly angled for the role of Vice President alongside Trump, as opposed to what many believe to be a conservative dream pairing of the former President and DeSantis.
    “Trump needs to choose somebody who, like him, has nothing to lose,” she advised, an apt description of Palin herself. “What more can they do to that person personally or verbal attacks or anything else on family?”

    Palin was famously put through the wringer — by Democrats, the media, and some Republicans — when she was chosen as the late Senator John McCain’s vice presidential running mate in 2008.
    The brutal portrayal of her by the media as a bumbling fool has left a lasting mark even to this day.

    Palin/Trump 2024?
    In the interview, Bolling asked Palin flat-out if she was describing herself as the ideal candidate to run alongside Trump in 2024.
    “Not necessarily,” she laughed.
    “However, I’ll tell you, the opportunity that I had to run with someone who wasn’t as commonsense [of a] constitutional conservative as I, and I think the majority of Republicans were, but still having the opportunity to form a team like that in running, in offering ourselves up in service to America — oh my goodness, no greater honor, no greater opportunity,” she said referencing 2008.

    That said, perhaps DeSantis should think twice before accepting political advice from Palin.
    In McCain’s final book before his death, he wrote that he regretted choosing Palin as his running mate and wished he’d picked Joe Lieberman instead. Apparently, McCain thought adding a vanilla running mate to his already vanilla campaign would help.
    He would have lost regardless, because McCain was too weak of a candidate to go up against Barack Obama.

    Palin in 2022 lost elections to represent Alaska’s at-large congressional district twice — one, in a special election and another for the full term — despite being endorsed by Trump.
    A recent Monmouth poll shows Trump and DeSantis tied as the leading choice amongst Republican voters for the GOP nomination in 2024.
    Several other polls, however, show Trump with a clear advantage over the Florida governor, while the two seem light years ahead of any other challengers, including Nikki Haley who recently launched her own campaign.

When President Trump announced his trip to meet the people of the community and bring tractor-trailer loads full of essential supplies to help people still affected by the train derailment, the Biden administration curiously sprang into action and approved FEMA resources that were initially rejected.
    While President Trump forced the inept federal government and Biden to act, here is how Biden and Buttigieg spent the last 20 days ignoring the concerns of the citizens of East Palestine.

    East Palestine Mayor Trent Conaway said on Monday that Biden’s trip to Ukraine was the “biggest slap in the face,” and showed he “doesn’t care about us” and that he was “furious” Biden was supporting Ukraine and not his town.
    “It’s ridiculous that Joe Biden hasn’t been to East Palestine. It’s all politics all the time for Biden and he doesn’t give a damn!” U.S. Senator Ted Cruz wrote on Twitter
    “It is unacceptable that it took nearly two weeks for a senior administration official to show up,” U.S. Senator Joe Manchin said in a statement Thursday. “I urge President Biden, Administrator Regan, and Transportation Secretary Buttigieg to provide a complete picture of the damage and a comprehensive plan to ensure the community is supported in the weeks, months and years to come, and this sort of accident never happens again.”
    “We need Congressional inquiry and direct action from Secretary Buttigieg to address this tragedy,” Minnesota Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar wrote on Twitter.
    “Amidst an impending possible rail strike last year, Secretary Buttigieg left the country to vacation in Portuguese wine country,” Senator Marco Rubio wrote . “Near misses in commercial aviation, as well as recent system failures, including the one that shutdown air travel in Florida in January, indicate that serious and persistent problems across the DOT are not being sufficiently remedied. I do not have confidence that Secretary Buttigieg is capable of keeping the American people safe.”
    “The people in East Palestine had their water, air, and soil poisoned,” Ohio Senator Mike Rulli wrote on Twitter. “Pete Buttigieg’s only response was to spin and say it wasn’t a big deal. He’s not doing his job. He needs to resign. Now.”
    His comments drew backlash from U.S. Senator J.D. Vance . Appearing in East Palestine, Senator Vance said, “your Department of Transportation has things it can do. Stop blaming Donald Trump, a guy who hasn’t been president for three years, and use the powers of the federal government to do the things necessary to help people in this community.”
    “I give Secretary Buttigieg an F,” U.S. Representative Bill Johnson said . “I mean, he hasn’t shown up.”

    Joe Biden has allegedly given the Teamsters Union a bailout in the form of $36 billion tax dollars for their poorly managed pensions.
    One of the issues facing the United States in the near future is unfunded liabilities. In other words, money that was promised to people with no real money to back up the promise.
    If you think this is bad, wait until the bill comes due for public employee unions in cities like Chicago and Detroit. They owe billions upon billions in pensions. Guess who is going to pay for that.
    The Federalist reports:
    Biden Shoveled $36 Billion In Taxpayer Funds To Bail Out Teamsters For Mismanaged Pensions
    Can Americans be bribed with their own money? The powers that be are certainly putting that question to the test. In recent years, we’ve seen inflation-inducing cash giveaways associated with “Covid relief.” We’ve seen the ongoing attempts at profoundly inequitable student loan forgiveness. In December, we saw a $1.7 trillion pork pie omnibus appropriations bill passed by a Congress that had no time to read it.
    Lost in all of this has been one spectacular giveaway: $100,000 per beneficiary of the Central States Pension Fund (CSPF). The fund provides pension benefits to nearly 360,000 private-sector workers and retirees, mostly Teamsters Union members. U.S. Rep. Kevin Brady, R-Texas, called the deal out in December, noting it was “the largest private pension bailout in American history” that benefited only “a tiny minority of workers.” He suggested it resulted from the insanity of “allowing those who mismanaged pensions to determine whether their funds qualify for taxpayer assistance with no safeguards.”
    The $36 billion comes almost two years after the passage of the $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. That “rescue” was the Biden administration’s Covid spending bonanza. Biden signed it into law in the spring of 2021, when the economy was already well into recovery. The housing market was booming. The stock market was on a steady upward climb. It was obvious that the “rescue” would cause inflation. It was obvious Democrats were taking advantage of an opportunity to give away public largesse. And did they ever.
    Lest we doubt the ongoing influence of the Teamsters in American politics, the recent $36 billion giveaway says it all. It says to the union bosses, who make up half of the CSPF board: “You can watch the pension fund’s health decline for decades. You can make unrealistic promises to employees. You can keep the plan below 75 percent funded. You can depend on a pyramid concept where imaginary new members keep coming in to pay for retired members. None of that matters now.

    Billionaire investor Thomas H. Lee, 78, was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in his swanky NYC office on Thursday morning, according to the New York Post.
    “The family is extremely saddened by Tom’s death. While the world knew him as one of the pioneers in the private equity business and a successful businessman, we knew him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, sibling, friend and philanthropist who always put others’ needs before his own,” Lee family friend and spokesperson Michael Sitrick said in a statement.
    “Our hearts are broken. We ask that our privacy be respected and that we be allowed to grieve.”
    “Lee was a good friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton and in June 2008, following Hillary’s unsuccessful presidential run, the couple reportedly stayed at his East Hampton home.” the Daily Mail reported.
    The New York Post reported:
    Billionaire financier and investor Thomas H. Lee was found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at his Manhattan office on Thursday morning, police sources said.
    Cops responded to a 911 call at 767 Fifth Avenue — where Thomas H. Lee Capital, LLC is located on the sixth floor — at around 11:10 a.m., the sources said.
    EMTs pronounced the 78-year-old businessman dead at the scene.
    The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.
    A front desk worker at Lee’s office building was told there was an “emergency,” on the sixth floor, but was unaware of Lee’s death.
    “They don’t want anyone going to that space right now, not even the building staff,” the man said.
    Lee is credited with being one of the first financiers to purchase companies with money borrowed against the business being bought — what is now called a leveraged buyout.
    The Harvard graduate founded Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. in 1974, serving as the chairman and CEO of the company and its predecessors.
