One year after Gov. Ron DeSantis launched Florida’s Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Program, the state has awarded over 1,750 bonuses to newly employed law enforcement recruits. At least 530 of them relocated from out of state, with 200 coming from New York, California, Texas and Pennsylvania.
Several recruits shared why they relocated to Florida in a joint statement released by the governor’s office. Many expressing gratitude are former NYPD officers who argue the city abandoned them.
New York City is seeing record numbers of police officers retire or resign. This January and February, 239 left the force; 176 and 110 left during the same months in 2022 and 2021, respectively. NYPD pension data reveals their departures represent a 36% increase from last year and a 117% increase from 2021, according to a report published by the New York Post.
One former NYPD officer, Davey, who relocated to central Florida last year to serve in the Clermont Police Department, said, “After working in the NYPD for 17 years, I began to feel as if the city I served no longer supported my efforts. I decided to look into relocating my family and practicing law enforcement elsewhere.”
He began the process to join the Clermont PD before the bonus program was offered but still qualified for it. He said the program “carried a message that was very reassuring—law enforcement were welcome and embraced here in the state of Florida.” And the bonus money he received paid his first mortgage payment, he said. Money that came “from a state that truly supports its officers! My family and I are grateful for this blessing as it has made us feel welcome and has affirmed our decision to move.”

Another former NYPD officer, Rob, who also joined Clermont PD, said he relocated to Florida because “New York’s over-taxation is burdensome and pays for failed policies that have led to both a dramatic increase in crime and decrease in quality-of-life.”
After 25 years and four promotions at the NYPD, he said, “the choice of moving to Florida was an easy one.” Florida’s cost of living and weather is far better, he says and “the people and the government in Florida are far more appreciative and supportive of law enforcement.”
“Governor DeSantis’s call is being heard and I was happy to make the move,” he added. “The process of going into law enforcement is relatively easy for out-of-state officers and the Clermont Police Department was incredibly supportive and understanding of the challenges faced by the move. Despite all that, moving was incredibly expensive and the bonus was crucial in easing that burden. It is much appreciated.”
Another New Yorker, Kevin, who relocated to work at the Bradenton Police Department last September, said the bonus offset relocation fees “and more importantly, [gave] us peace of mind by reaffirming our decision to relocate.” But his family greatly benefits even more he said, through the state’s Step Up for Children tuition program and Florida’s education system “that has truly set our children up for success.”
Anticipating that more NYPD officers and others from around the country would continue relocating to Florida, DeSantis’ fiscal 2023-2024 budget allocates $30 million to continue funding the recruitment bonus program. This represents a $10 million increase from the previous budget.

In November 2021, DeSantis first invited police officers to relocate to Florida, saying to those in “NYPD, Minneapolis, Seattle, if you’re not being treated well, we’ll treat you better here: you fill important needs for us, and we’ll compensate you as a result.”
Shortly after his invitation, at least 14 NYPD officers left New York City to join the Lakeland Police Department, located near Tampa. They cited DeSantis’ recruitment plan and a hostile work environment in a city whose leadership they said turned its back on the police.
When announcing the success of the program one year later, DeSantis said, “Florida is first in the nation in law enforcement recruitment because of our focus on back-the-blue initiatives that make our law enforcement officers feel supported by their communities. In Florida, we know the invaluable service that law enforcement professional provide our communities, and we’ve got their backs.”

Texas Officers Apprehend Truckloads Of Single Men Trying To Enter U.S. Illegally

Texas state troopers and local law enforcement officers continue to apprehend truckloads of single military age men attempting to enter the U.S. illegally.
Law enforcement officers have explained to The Center Square that they estimate the number of people they apprehend are a fraction of those coming through, the majority of whom aren’t caught.
In El Paso, Department of Public Safety special agents thwarted a human smuggling operation after observing a group of foreign nationals being loaded into a Penske rental truck on El Paso’s west side after they’d entered the U.S. illegally. They apprehended 58 citizens of Mexico, El Salvador and Guatemala.
All were placed into the custody of U.S. Border Patrol agents. The driver, a Mexican national who was in the U.S. illegally, was arrested and faces federal human smuggling charges.
In the border town of Laredo, residents reported seeing numerous foreign nationals running through their neighborhood after they’d entered the U.S. illegally. Texas National Guard troops blocked off streets throughout the neighborhood to help local law enforcement apprehend as many as they could.
They helped apprehend eight individuals “by using vehicles and manpower to close off the area,” Spc. Sanchez, Bravo Company, Task Force Center, said. “We use our radio equipment to communicate with law enforcement to assist in apprehensions.”

Texas DPS special agents, working with Border Patrol agents in El Paso, found another stash house being used to house 95 Mexicans, Guatemalans and Ecuadorians who’d all entered the U.S. illegally. They were being held by smugglers prior to being sent to their next destination. Border Patrol agents apprehended 74 men, 19 women and two minors. The stash house operator was arrested and is facing multiple felony charges.
Stash houses can be homes, sheds or any structure used to hide illegal activity from law enforcement, the FBI explains, “to blend in, so they can be found even in the middle of a city or gated community.” They often create life-threatening conditions because they aren’t adequately ventilated, cooled or heated. They’re used as holding areas for a “load-up” vehicle to arrive for traffickers to transport illegal foreign nationals to another stash house or move them further into the country.
Texas DPS last September increased its cash reward to $5,000 for information leading to the identification of stash houses. Those with information are encouraged to call Crime Stoppers’ hotline: 1-800-252-TIPS (8477), submit an online tip, or submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “Submit a Tip” link under the “About” section.

Since Gov. Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star in March 2021, as of April 7, multiple Texas law enforcement officers have apprehended more than 363,000 illegal foreign nationals and made over 26,000 criminal arrests, with over 24,000 felony charges reported. They’ve also seized more than 380 million lethal doses of fentanyl, enough to kill everyone in the U.S.

Speaker McCarthy, Who Promised Voters No Blank Check on Ukraine, Voices Support For War Effort: ‘We Have to Win’
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who promised America First voters that he would not back a ‘blank check’ for the war effort in Ukraine, voiced support for the Biden administration’s policies in the region and insisted “we” must win.
McCarthy’s comments came last week as he spoke to reporters at a meeting with the President of Taiwan. They resurfaced when MSNBC’s Chuck Todd played them during an interview with House Foreign Affairs Chairman Mike McCaul (R-TX).
Todd characterized the comments as a “shift” in the “perception of where [McCarthy] is on the issue of Ukraine.”
“I think what’s happening in Ukraine is an atrocity, and I think Ukraine – not just Ukraine, the world has to win there,” McCarthy said before referencing his ‘blank check’ comments.
“What Russia has done is wrong. And a phrase that I used, the ‘blank check,’ I use that for anything. Did McCarthy Flip on His Ukraine Stance Before the Election?
MSNBC’s Chuck Todd questioned McCaul about the comments and wondered if McCarthy (R-CA) had “reassured” Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that House Republicans “are not going to stand in the way of more aid to Ukraine.”
McCaul replied that McCarthy’s new comments on the Ukraine war effort are always how he’s felt on the matter.
“He’s always believed this, felt this way,” the Texas representative said.

McCarthy announced prior to the midterm elections that when the GOP takes control of the House, Ukraine would no longer be the benefactor of a “blank check” from the United States government.

‘Full-Scale Support’ For Biden’s Ukraine War
Republican lawmakers at the time backpedaled and McCarthy didn’t step in to say, ‘No, I said what I meant.’ In fact, reports surfaced that he had been trying to “smooth over” the comment.
The Political Insider declared this was evidence McCarthy “was talking out of both sides of his mouth” and perhaps unfit for the Speakership.
Journalist Glenn Greenwald on Monday blasted McCarthy over his recalibrated stance, which he describes as pledging his “full-scale support for Biden’s war policies in Ukraine.”

A recent poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research shows just 37% are in favor of sending taxpayer dollars to Ukraine, while 38% are opposed. Another 23% say they are neither in favor or opposed.
Republican support for America having a role in the Ukraine-Russia conflict had dropped from 35% the previous year to 17%.
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell responded by saying that while he’s “sorry public opinion is sliding,” the war effort in Ukraine and America’s continued support is “enormously important.”
How important? “The single most important event going on in the world right now,” says McConnell.
Now, McCarthy is echoing those sentiments by saying, “We have to win.”

The leaked Pentagon documents appear to be a physical theft rather than a cyber leak, CBS reported Tuesday evening.
“One U.S. official indicated that not all printers are authorized to print classified documents, and those that have this authorization register a unique ID when printing, so this may provide some clues into the search for the leaker.” CBS News reported.
Classified documents detailing the Ukraine war, Middle East, China, Africa and Israel ended up on a gaming platform.
According to the latest leak, US and UK special forces are on the ground in Ukraine.
NSC spox John Kirby this week said of the Pentagon docs leak, “we don’t know who’s behind this, we don’t know what the motive is.”
“Two officials tell CBS News that it does not appear to be a cyber leak, but rather a physical theft of highly classified material,” CBS’s Catherine Herridge reported on Tuesday.

The FBI is working to track down who leaked sensitive and secret defense and intelligence documents and shared them on social media, and at the same time, the Pentagon is reducing the number of people who have access to the kind of classified information that has been leaked.
The number of people on government-wide distribution lists who receive classified updates has been culled significantly since Friday, U.S. officials said. Before the leak was revealed, about 1,000 people usually had access to these types of documents. CBS News has reviewed a number of the leaked documents, all of which are color printouts with text, graphics or maps that appear to have been folded, unfolded and then photographed and shared on social media sites including 4Chan and Discord.
The Pentagon’s internal review of the matter will be led by Milancy Harris, deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence and security. The review will probe the scope and scale of the leak and the impact on the U.S. and allies’ national security, and examine how information flows and who has access to it.
The FBI is leading the criminal investigation, which is only in its early stages, according to a U.S. official familiar with the probe. Former officials familiar with leak investigations predicted that identifying the source could happen quickly because “the universe of possibilities is relatively small.”

Earlier this year Chris Wray’s FBI sent out a memo warning agents of the dangerous ‘radical traditionalist Catholic ideology’ that was gaining popularity in the country. The memo was posted at UncoverDC.com by former FBI special agent Kyle Seraphin.
Seraphin last year was suspended indefinitely from the FBI without pay after stepping forward as a whistleblower and alleging that the FBI is trying to hide how many man-hours they used on the Jan 6th investigation. Seraphin had worked at the FBI’s Richmond office for six years.

On Tuesday FOX Business Network (FBN) Sean Duffy, a conservative Catholic who attends Latin mass, weighed in on the latest FBI scandal. Sean believes we are just scratching the surface on this FBI scandal.

Country music legend John Rich is no longer selling Bud Light at his wildly popular Nashville bar, Redneck Riviera.
Many Republicans have been boycotting the brand over its partnership with transgender activist and TikTok influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
Rich discussed the issue during an appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight on Monday.

The beer company has defended the partnership, saying they use many influencers to “connect with audiences across various demographics.”

The transgender activist and influencer has over 10 million followers on TikTok and 1.7 million on Instagram.
Mulvaney has become a controversial figure over his “Days of Girlhood” series on TikTok — and meeting with President Joe Biden on “Day 222 of being a girl” to advocate for allowing minors to transition. Mulvaney said at the time, “I’m ready to step up and show that trans people are not going anywhere and that trans kids deserve a fighting chance to be their true selves.”
