The Montgomery County School District in Maryland has removed parents’ rights to opt their children out of certain parts of the curriculum and has made LGBTQ-themed books required reading.
The district has made multiple controversial books mandatory reading for its English language arts curriculum as part of an “LGBTQ-inclusive reading list.”
“MCPS keeps painting these books as rainbow unicorn which they are not,” Moms for Liberty Montgomery chapter president Lindsey Smith told Fox News.
Smith said her three-year-old was assigned a book called “Pride Puppy” and an ABC book with images of drag queens under “Q for Queen.”
The report explains, “while several parents requested a policy to opt out of these books, a recently updated policy by the school board insisted that students will be required to ‘engage’ with these materials. In addition, parents will no longer be required to be informed on which books will be included on the lists.”
“Students and families may not choose to opt out of engaging with any instructional materials, other than ‘Family Life and Human Sexuality Unit of Instruction’ which is specifically permitted by Maryland law. As such, teachers will not send home letters to inform families when inclusive books are read in the future,” MCPS’ policy reads.
It’s not just conservatives who oppose the required materials.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and Montgomery County Muslim Council also oppose the district’s decision.
“We’re trying to be respectful of these groups and their rights, but at the same time, we’re saying our rights need to be represented based off of our belief systems,” Montgomery County Muslim Council President Asif Husain told Fox News.
CAIR has launched a petition demanding parental notification of certain books and restoring the option to opt-out.
“By introducing sexually-themed lessons and materials as part of the school curriculum without advance parental notice, an opt-out option or another reasonable religious accommodation, MCPS is violating the rights of parents and guardians, and undermining Maryland state law, which requires parents or guardians to have the option to remove their children from ‘Family Life and Human Sexuality’ content,” the petition says.
Concerned parents will be speaking out at board meetings, according to Smith.
“We just are parents who see the push to indoctrinate young kids on sexual identity and push this gender ideology on young kids, who just want to play dress up, play and learn. It’s not about academia, so why are we teaching it? Only 31% of our kids in the highest ‘academia’ county can pass math in the newest data released,” Smith told Fox News Digital. “Many parents feel this has nothing to do with equity and inclusion because why aren’t other groups in their community represented?”
When President Donald Trump won the election, MCPS offered a “special curriculum” to “help students cope” with the election results.
The district borders Washington, DC.

The Louisville Metro Police Department has released bodycam footage of yesterday’s mass shooting at Old National Bank on East Main Street Monday morning.
As Gateway Pundit reported, five people were killed after 23-year-old Connor Sturgeon, a former employee at the bank, entered the bank.
Nine more were injured, including Officer Nicholas Wilt, who was shot in the head. He is barely clinging to life.

Witnesses claim Sturgeon just started firing.
From WHAS 11:
A witness who was inside the building told WHAS11 they saw a man with a “long assault rifle” fire multiple shots inside the bank on the first floor, near the conference room area.
He just started firing,” he said. “I didn’t see his face. We were in the conference room. Whoever was next to me got shot; their blood’s on me.”
Another witness, who works in an office building facing the bank, said the shooter and law enforcement officers got into a “shootout.” They said civilians were being carried out.

Wilt and Officer Cory Galloway were the first to arrive on scene. Their bodycams were shown during the press conference.
The first video released by the Louisville police shows officers Wilt and Cory Galloway arriving at the bank in a police vehicle.
Sturgeon immediately fires on them after they step out, forcing the officers to retreat.
Galloway then grabs his police rifle and confirms shots have been fired.
As Sturgeon fired at them, Galloway is seen rolling over and darting down the stairs leading up to entrance. Wilt was able to get inside.
Wilt is then shot in the head by Sturgeon. Despite this, he still is able to heroically exchange gunfire with the shooter.
Galloway’s bodycam is the second video shown. He is at the bottom of the stairs leading to the bank entrance.
In the video Galloway says: “Goddamn it the shooter has an angle on that officer. The glass is blocking him.
He then says: “He’s shooting straight through these windows at the officer.”
After the glass breaks, Galloway is able to fire several time unimpeded and finally kills Sturgeon.
He then screams multiple times: He’s down!

EMT’s immediately entered the building and treated the victims of the shooting. Officer Wilt was one of the individuals treated at scene and was later transported to the hospital.
The Gateway Pundit reported that before the shooting, Sturgeon left a voicemail to friend the night before the shooting claiming that he was going to kill everyone and that he was feeling suicidal.
Reporters also uncovered that Sturgeon was a woke leftist who hated Donald Trump. Furthermore, he used pronouns on his LinkedIn account.

Checks to be deposited were treated like junk mail. Numerous checks became stale and were never cashed. Numerous accounts were created that could have been used to launder money.

Dianne Feinstein’s absence from the Senate is holding up Joe Biden’s judicial confirmations.
Feinstein, 89, has been MIA since she was hospitalized for shingles last month.
The California senator’s absence from the Senate Judiciary Committee has the panel deadlocked at 10-10.
It is unclear when Feinstein will return Washington.
“I can’t consider nominees in these circumstances, because a tie vote is a losing vote in committee,” Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin told CNN. “We still have some nominees left on the calendar that we can work on. … But we have more in the wings that we would like to process through the committee.”
Feinstein has missed 60 votes out of the 82 taken this year, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
In February Feinstein announced she is retiring at the end of her term and will not seek reelection.
The California Senator is retiring after THREE decades in the Senate and more than 50 years in office.
“I am announcing today I will not run for reelection in 2024 but intend to accomplish as much for California as I can through the end of next year when my term ends. Even with a divided Congress, we can still pass bills that will improve lives.” Feinstein said in February.
Last year the San Francisco Chronicle reported Feinstein’s cognitive decline is so bad that her own Democrat colleagues want her to retire before her term expires at the end of 2024.
The California Senator will be 91 years old when her term expires at the end of 2024.

President Trump sat down with Fox News host Tucker Carlson for his first interview since last week’s arraignment.
Trump last week was arraigned on 34 felony charges after Soros-backed Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg sought to ‘get Trump’ for so-called ‘hush payments’ to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Tucker Carlson asked Trump about the arraignment process and what happened when he entered the Manhattan courthouse.
Trump said everybody who worked at the courthouse was professional and treated him well.
“When I went to the courthouse, which is also a prison in a sense – they signed me in – and I’ll tell you, people were crying – people that work there, professionally work there that have no problems putting in murderers and they see everybody. It’s a tough, tough place and they were crying, they were actually crying,” Trump said.

Trump also told Tucker Carlson he doesn’t think Joe Biden will even make it through to a 2024 presidential campaign.
Biden has yet to officially announce a 2024 run, but he teased a reelection bid during Monday’s Easter Egg Roll at the White House.
“It’s almost inappropriate for me to say it… there’s something wrong… I don’t think he can,” Trump said of Joe Biden.

Alvin Bragg should be held in contempt of Congress.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg filed a lawsuit against House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan in an effort to block Congress from ‘interfering’ in his case against Trump.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the Southern District of New York, accuses Jim Jordan of a “brazen and unconstitutional attack” on his criminal case against Trump.
Bragg’s lawsuit seeks to bar Jim Jordan’s committee from enforcing a subpoena issued to Hillary Clinton lawyer Mark Pomerantz.
Last week Jim Jordan subpoenaed former Manhattan DA prosecutor and Hillary Clinton lawyer, Mark Pomerantz for a deposition.
Mark Pomerantz, a former senior prosecutor on the Manhattan DA’s team investigating Trump resigned in protest after District Attorney Alvin Bragg ended the investigation.
He then went on to write a book on the topic.
In the book, he claims the investigation “developed evidence convincing us that Donald Trump had committed serious crimes.”
Jim Jordan summoned Mark Pomerantz for a closed-door deposition on April 20, according to the subpoena reviewed by this reporter.
Bragg’s office is now suing Jim Jordan to block the subpoena issued to Pomerantz.

The Manhattan district attorney on Tuesday sued Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio in an extraordinary step intended to keep congressional Republicans from interfering in the office’s criminal case against former President Donald J. Trump.
The 50-page suit, filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York, accuses Mr. Jordan of a “brazen and unconstitutional attack” on the prosecution of Mr. Trump and a “transparent campaign to intimidate and attack” the district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg. Mr. Bragg last week unveiled 34 felony charges against Mr. Trump that stem from the former president’s attempts to cover up a potential sex scandal during and after the 2016 presidential campaign.
Lawyers for Mr. Bragg are seeking to bar Mr. Jordan and his congressional allies from enforcing a subpoena sent to Mark F. Pomerantz, who was once a leader of the district attorney’s Trump investigation and who later wrote a book about that experience. Mr. Pomerantz resigned early last year after Mr. Bragg, just weeks into his first term in office, decided not to seek an indictment of Trump at that time.
The Trump indictment was unsealed last Tuesday during Trump’s arraignment.
Alvin Bragg didn’t explain what exactly he wants to convict Trump of in the charging documents.
Bragg told reporters he doesn’t have to tell anyone what the underlying felony is.
He’s just allowed to charged Trump with 34 felonies without explaining what the underlying offense was.
Jim Jordan responded on Tuesday afternoon.

Congressional leaders known as the ‘Gang of Eight,’ have gained access to classified documents found in possession of Trump, Pence and Joe Biden.
Senate Intel Committee Chairman Mark Warner (D-VA) and Vice Chairman Marco Rubio (R-FL), both ‘Gang of Eight’ members, previously asked the Justice Department to give them access to the classified documents.

The Biden administration has started giving the congressional “Gang of Eight” access to the classified documents that were recovered from the homes of former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden and former Vice President Mike Pence, according to sources familiar with the matter.
This is a major victory for Congress and, more broadly, a validation of lawmakers’ role as overseers of the U.S. intelligence community.
It’s the direct result of a pressure campaign from the Senate Intelligence Committee’s chair and vice chair, Sens. Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who relentlessly hammered the Biden administration over its months-long refusal to share the documents with the committee.
The Biden administration began producing the documents last week, we’re told. The Gang of Eight includes Warner and Rubio, their House Intelligence Committee counterparts, and the Democratic and Republican leader in each chamber. The members of this group — and some designated staffers — have access to the most sensitive intelligence material.
The FBI raided Trump’s Florida residence last August and seized classified documents lawfully stored at Mar-a-Lago.

The FBI then descended on Mike Pence’s Indiana home and seized classified documents from his residence.

The FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago was meant to distract from the real classified documents scandal involving Joe Biden.
Joe Biden stole classified documents and stored them at his Penn Biden Center.

Biden also stored stolen classified documents in his garage next to his Corvette where his crackhead son Hunter had access to the sensitive materials.

Another day, another mass shooting in a Democrat-run city.
Just a day after a former bank employee gunned down five people in cold blood in Louisville, now we have multiple casualties outside a place where people gather to mourn the dead.
Fox News has the details:
Washington, D.C., police confirmed that multiple people were shot at the location of a funeral home Tuesday.
A DC Metro Police Department spokesperson said officers are at the scene where multiple people were shot in the 4000 block of Benning Road NE.
The confirmed numbers of victims and their conditions were not immediately available, the spokesperson added.

UPDATE:
DC Police Chief Robert Contee said during a press conference that four people were shot, including one fatally. The gunman remains at large.
He also revealed that investigators believe the individuals were targeted, though the motive remains unknown at this point.
At this point, the Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the community’s help. We’re asking for anyone who has information to please call us anonymously at 2027279099 or you may text us anonymously at 50411. At this point, it appears that several people who were in the block were specifically targeted.
We’re unsure why that is. We’re unsure why these people were targeted, more or less why they were targeted at a funeral. We don’t understand that. We’re looking for the community’s help.

After staying silent all day Monday apparently waiting to see if his friends in the media would cover for him (they did), Bruce Springsteen guitarist and Democrat activist Steven Van Zandt on Tuesday backtracked on his Easter Sunday call for Republican genocide, saying he really meant to say “exterminate at the ballot box” when he said “exterminate these cockroaches once and for all.” But Van Zandt continued using the dehumanizing language of genocide, calling Republicans, “MAGotts” in Tuesday’s message.

On Tuesday, Van Zandt replied to a poster who compared his rhetoric to the Rwanda genocide of the 1990s. The poster cited an Atlantic Magazine article excerpt, “The radio station RTLM, allied with leaders of the government, had been inciting Hutus against the Tutsi minority, repeatedly describing the latter as inyenzi, or “cockroaches,””
Van Zandt replied, “In this case the phrase was used as symbolism. I know you pathetic MAGotts don’t have the intelligence to recognize that but that’s your problem. Don’t project your mindless violence fantasies on this peace loving hippie. Exterminate at the ballot box was clearly what was meant.”

Van Zandt was apparently given free rein by Springsteen to continue demonizing American citizens he disagrees with politically. He followed with more inflammatory, dehumanizing language.
