TALKING POINTS: Kimmel, Colbert, and Fallon All Make the Same Stupid Joke About Trump and Venezuela (VIDEO)
Credit: The Late Show with Stephen ColbertYouTube Screenshot
Late night TV shows are dying for a very good reason. They’ve become unfunny, overly-political, and they’re all the same, with the single exception of Greg Gutfeld, who gets better ratings than all of the others.
During the course of the last week, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, and Jimmy Fallon, all made the same stupid joke about Trump and Venezuela. Talking points clearly went out.
These guys are such talentless hacks.
NewsBusters reports:
On ABC, Jimmy Kimmel quipped that “President Trump said his New Year’s resolution this year is peace on earth, and that lasted for just under two days. If you are wondering how bad these Epstein files are for Trump; turns out they’re ‘invade Venezuela bad.’ This is literally the plot of the movie Wag the Dog. The president gets caught in a sex scandal, so he attacks a smaller country to distract us, and here we are, distracted.”…
Back on CBS, Stephen Colbert began The Late Show’s final year by echoing Kimmel, “Do you know what this means? Those Epstein files must be crazy! I mean, bomb something! Bomb anything! This operation, launched just two days into the New Year, came as a shock, especially since—and this is true — Trump’s New Year’s resolution was ‘Peace on Earth.’ Well, that didn’t last long. And as a result, neither did my resolution to switch to clear liquor.”…
Earlier, Meyers’s NBC colleague, The Tonight Show’s Jimmy Fallon, echoed Kimmel and Colbert on the Epstein point, “Good luck to everyone who’s made New Year’s resolutions. Yeah, some people want to lose weight while others want to gain Venezuela and—. Yeah, the big news from this weekend is that President Trump sent U.S. troops into Venezuela to capture the country’s president, Nicolas Maduro. Yup, the news took everyone by surprise. When I heard there was an operation to extract a president, I just assumed Trump got stuck in his tanning bed… it turns out Trump’s New Year’s resolution was to distract everyone from the Epstein files.”

Scott Jennings Schools CNN Colleague After She Questions Trump’s Words About Minnesota Shooting (VIDEO)
Following the shooting of a woman in Minnesota by an ICE agent today after she appeared prepared to run him over with her car, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey made things worse with reckless statements. Frey was particularly unhinged.
For some strange reason, CNN’s Kasie Hunt decided to single out comments from President Trump and asked Scott Jennings if his comments were appropriate.
Jennings, in the nicest way possible, reminded Hunt that Trump is not the only one who has spoken and that Walz and Frey have said horrible things about ICE before today.
From Overton News:
Before facts were known, BOTH Minnesota’s governor and Minneapolis’ mayor had already weighed in and effectively called the ICE officer a murderer.
HUNT: “Do you think it’s appropriate for the president to be weighing in in this way, while so many of the facts are still in dispute?”
JENNINGS: “Well, all the political actors seem to be weighing in.”
“The president has weighed in. The governor of Minnesota and the mayor of Minneapolis have weighed in and effectively called this guy a murderer.”
“They don’t know that. I mean, there’s obviously two points of view, and I assume there’s going to be more facts that we’re all going to learn in the days and weeks ahead.”
“But it’s pretty apparent this guy was standing in front of a vehicle and somebody accelerated it at him.”
“How this shakes out in the legal system, I don’t know.”
“I do know this. The president has been a strong proponent of standing up for these ICE agents and other federal law enforcement who have been, in fact, under assault from protesters since he took office and instructed them to simply enforce federal immigration law.”
“And we have seen, in my opinion, a lot of irresponsible rhetoric over the years from Democratic officials like Tim Walz, who have called them gestapo and murderers and everything else.”
Here’s the video:CNN set the table — and Scott Jennings flipped it over.

— Overton (@overton_news) January 7, 2026Leave it to Kasie Hunt to go directly after Trump while ignoring Walz and Frey. She knew what they said but they get a pass because they’re Democrats and not Trump.
