Los Angeles city councilman Hugo Martinez recently remarked that he wants illegals to be able to vote in city elections.
He claims that some of these people have lived in the city for years and pay taxes but they don’t have a say in the policies that affect their children. You know what? Tough.
If Democrats are ever given this concession, next year it’ll be state elections and then of course, federal elections. That’s how the left works. It’s baby steps from here all the way to presidential elections.

LA councilmember wants to allow noncitizens to vote in city elections
A Los Angeles city councilmember is pushing to explore whether noncitizens should be allowed to vote in future city elections – a proposal still in its earliest stages but already drawing sharp criticism.
Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez said he hopes his motion will make it onto the November ballot, claiming it could eventually open the door for noncitizen residents to participate in local elections.
Federal law bans noncitizens from voting in national races, but several U.S. cities – including some in California – and the District of Columbia allow limited forms of noncitizen voting. Eighteen states, however, have enacted outright bans.
Soto-Martinez said the idea is about fairness for longtime residents who contribute to the city but have no electoral voice.
“We have folks living in this country who have been here 20 years,” he said. “They started a family, they pay their taxes, many of them are homeowners, but they don’t have a say over the policies that affect their children and families on any given day.”

The answer should be no. Absolutely not.
Note how Martinez tried to frame this as an issue of fairness. This is what the left always does. We all know the real reason. Democrats believe they will benefit from the votes of illegals.
If Democrats thought these people might vote Republican, they would never even think of allowing them to vote and we all know it.

Podcast host and stand-up comic Joe Rogan isn’t always right about everything, but when it comes to California Governor Gavin Newsom, his analysis is dead on.
During a recent episode of his show, Rogan blasted Newsom for being a total fake who changes positions with the wind and doesn’t really stand for anything.
He also pointed out that no matter what people think of Trump, that he is the exact opposite of this and is a real person.

Gov. Gavin Newsom escalated his long-running feud with Joe Rogan, firing back after the podcaster described him as a “cardboard cutout of a person” and questioned whether voters see him as authentic.
In an all-caps post from the Governor Newsom Press Office X account late Thursday, April 30, Newsom accused Rogan of avoiding a direct exchange.
“JOE ‘LITTLE GUY’ ROGAN IS TOO CHICKEN TO HAVE ME ON HIS FAILING PODCAST BECAUSE HE KNOW I’D CRUSH HIM, SO HE TAKES CHEAP SHOTS FROM THE PEANUT GALLERY AS HE GETS RELEGATED TO IRRELEVANCY. ALL TALK, NO ACTION. I’M READY WHEN YOU ARE, ‘LITTLE GUY.’ OR KEEP HIDING!!!!” the post said.

Jim Acosta. who left CNN when the network decided to move his basement-rated show to a time slot that even less people would watch, is very angry that Scott Jennings is now featured.
As is typical of many leftists, Acosta can’t stand the fact that there’s ONE voice on the network that isn’t explicitly anti-Trump.
Acosta claims this is about Jennings telling a liberal guest to get out of his face.
What Acosta doesn’t seem to realize is that his sour grapes come off as little more than petty jealousy.

Media figures are calling on CNN to fire panelist Scott Jennings after the conservative commentator told a fellow on-air guest on Thursday to “get your f***ing hand out of my face.”
“At any other network, in any other era of television news, uttering an impromptu F-bomb would be a fireable offense,” former CNN anchor Jim Acosta wrote on his Substack.
Acosta added that he remembered Jennings as a “hothead” from their time working together, traits the former anchor argued were on display when Jennings lashed out on Thursday at panelist Adam Mockler, 23, a reporter and YouTuber with the progressive MeidasTouch network.
As Mockler and Jennings debated the low popularity of the Iran war, Mockler claimed Jennings was once again backing an “endless war,” after serving in the George W. Bush administration during the time of the Iraq war. Tensions rose as the pair went back and forth, speaking over each other and gesticulating near each other’s faces.
Acosta is complaining to pretty much anyone who will listen. Watch:

Police were forced to shut down the largest academic building at Michigan State University this week after it was discovered that it was housing a meth lab.
This sounds like something out of the TV series ‘Breaking Bad.’
It’s another embarrassing black eye for higher education but on the bright side, at least the lab didn’t blow up first.

Man arrested and charged in meth incident at Michigan State University
A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in an incident involving methamphetamines at Michigan State University, prompting the closure of Wells Hall, the largest academic building on campus, this week.
Xin Tong faces charges of malicious destruction of property over $20,000 and operating or maintaining a methamphetamine lab, state police said in a news release. He is being held at the Ingham County Jail on a $500,000 cash surety bond. It is not clear whether Tong has an attorney.
Campus Public Safety Chief Mike Yankowski said at a news conference Wednesday that the incident involved an unknown substance found on flooring and doors throughout the building in East Lansing.
At around 9:30 p.m. Sunday, campus police responded to a report of possible trespassing. Officers found Tong on the fifth floor with four or five backpacks and duffel bags, Yankowski said.
Police obtained a search warrant and found “several labeled and unlabeled containers of an unknown liquid substance inside,” the safety chief said.
The news release identified the substances as sodium hydroxide pellets, hydrochloric acid, methanol, isopropyl alcohol, acetone and butane. Police said the substances can be purchased legally online and in stores.

President Donald Trump told Congress on Friday that any effort to use the War Powers Act to rein in the strikes against Iran is irrelevant because he has declared that the conflict is over.
The 1973 War Powers Resolution says that a president is supposed to seek congressional authorization for a war if the conflict lasts longer than 60 days, according to NBC News.
The U.S. attacked Iran on Feb. 28. Trump notified Congress on March 2, which started the 60-day time period.
On Friday, Trump formally told Congress he does not need to submit anything for approval.
“On April 7, 2026, I ordered a two-week ceasefire. The ceasefire has since been extended. There has been no exchange of fire between the United States Forces and Iran since April 7, 2026. The hostilities that began on February 28, 2026, have terminated,” Trump wrote in documents sent to the House and Senate.
Trump did not answer whether there would be a phase two.
“Despite the success of United States operations against the Iranian regime and continued efforts to secure a lasting peace, the threat posed by Iran to the United States and our Armed Forces remains significant,” Trump wrote.
“I have and will continue to direct United States Armed Forces consistent with my responsibilities and pursuant to my constitutional authority to conduct United States foreign relations and as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive,” he continued.

Trump later noted that the Vietnam War-era War Powers Act has minimal value in the real world.
“Let me just tell you, on the war powers, so many presidents, as you know, have gone and exceeded it,” Trump said as he left the White House on Friday to travel to Florida, according to a video posted to X.
“It’s never been used. It’s never been adhered to. And every other president considered it totally unconstitutional. And we agree with that.”
“But we’re always in touch with Congress. But, nobody’s ever sought it before; nobody’s ever asked for it before; it’s never been used before. Why should we be different?” Trump also said, according to The Hill.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth offered a nuanced interpretation of the War Powers Act’s timeline during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on Thursday.
“We are in a ceasefire right now, which our understanding means the 60-day clock pauses or stops in a ceasefire,” Hegseth said.
Senate Democrats have failed six times to pass a War Powers resolution that would require military action in Iran to be halted until approval from Congress.
House Speaker Mike Johnson said Thursday that Congress needs to see how peace talks evolve before taking any action that might tie Trump’s hands.
“I don’t think we have an active, kinetic military bombing, firing or anything like that. Right now, we are trying to broker a peace,” Johnson said.
“I would be very reluctant to get in front of the administration in the midst of these very sensitive negotiations, so we’ll have to see how that plays out,” he said.

Keisha Lance Bottoms served as the Mayor of Atlanta until 2021, when she joined Joe Biden’s administration as a senior advisor (DEI hire).
As Atlanta Mayor, Keisha Lance Bottoms destroyed the city by imposing strict COVID policies – as she marched with Black Lives Matter militants during the George Floyd riots.
In one of her more memorable moments as Biden’s advisor, Keisha Lance Bottoms was unable to say why Joe Biden hadn’t visited the southern border amid an invasion of illegal aliens.
“Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms… I’ve known her for a long time, and she’s something special,” Biden said in a low-energy video.
“As mayor of Atlanta, Keisha faced every challenge a leader could face, and then some… a global pandemic, a major cyberattack on the city system, economic uncertainty that tested every community across Georgia,” Biden said.
“And then she came to the White House, served as a senior adviser. And I’ll tell you, those same colleagues that made her a great mayor made her invaluable to our administration,” he said.

SNAP recipients, particularly those who own luxury vehicles very few Americans can afford, have prompted concerns about accountability in federal benefit programs.
On Tuesday, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins revealed that her department has obtained data from one state indicating that thousands of SNAP recipients were driving luxury vehicles. The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, formerly known as the Food Stamp Program, has assisted over 41 million low-income individuals in the United States in accessing a nutritionally sufficient diet on average.
But according to a study done by the Foundation for Government Accountability, ownership of 14,000 luxury vehicles was also linked to recipients of SNAP benefit.
The report revealed the luxury car brands are among the priciest in the country, with Lamborghinis priced at over $680,000…Ferraris valued at over $600,000 and Bentleys ranging from $250,000 to $414,000.
As insane as it is that we have so many people living in luxury while on food stamps, equally insane is the apparent position of the Democrat party.
Leftist politicians are in lock step opposition to Republican efforts to root out and expose fraud.
For example, as The Gateway Pundit reported, California lawmakers pushed legislation known as the “Stop Nick Shirley Act” aiming to punish citizen journalists who expose things like quality “learing” centers.
No doubt, if Republicans end the madness of Ferrari owners receiving food stamps, Democrats will protest and claim that children will starve.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee announced Friday that he is calling a special legislative session next week to review and redraw Tennessee’s congressional districts after the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a major ruling that struck down race-driven mapmaking schemes and weakened one of the Left’s favorite redistricting weapons.
Lee said the move is necessary to ensure Tennessee’s congressional districts “accurately reflect the will of Tennessee voters” and to comply with election qualifying deadlines. The special session is expected to begin Tuesday, May 5.
Tennessee currently has nine congressional districts, with Republicans holding eight of the nine seats. But conservatives have long argued that the current map still leaves opportunities for Democrats to cling to power in areas where the broader state electorate has overwhelmingly rejected their agenda.
The likely focal point of the redraw is Memphis-based District 9, represented by Democrat Steve Cohen. Republicans have openly discussed restructuring that district to better align with statewide voting trends and potentially deliver another GOP pickup.

The Tennessee Star reported:
Following Wednesday’s ruling, President Donald Trump said he spoke with Lee, confirming at the time that the governor would “work hard” to redraw the state’s 9th Congressional District, which is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen (D-TN-09).
Lee announced his decision to call a special session on Friday, releasing a statement, “We owe it to Tennesseans to ensure our congressional districts accurately reflect the will of Tennessee voters.”
“After consultation with the Lt. Governor, Speaker of the House, Attorney General, and Secretary of State, I believe the General Assembly has a responsibility to review the map and ensure it remains fair, legal, and defensible,” the governor added.
Lee said lawmakers will convene on Tuesday, May 5.
Noting how this year’s primary election date for congressional candidates is August 6, Lee’s office said, “In order to comply with mandatory election qualifying timelines and ensure Tennesseans have reflective representation, any change to Tennessee’s congressional map must be enacted as soon as possible.”

Comedian Peter Kay was reportedly rushed off stage about 45 minutes into a show at the 16,000-seat Utilita Arena in Birmingham, England, on Friday night, and the audience evacuated after a suspicious bag was found. Birmingham police reported a 19-year-old man is in custody.
Kay was playing the first of a two-night stand at the arena in Birmingham as part of a tour of the U.K. and Ireland to benefit the fight against cancer, with all profits dedicated to British and Irish cancer charities.

A federal appeals court on Friday blocked nationwide access to abortion pill prescriptions via telehealth and mail.
A three-judge panel on the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously ruled that abortion pills such as Mifepristone must be distributed in person.
Louisiana filed the lawsuit after the FDA allowed Mifepristone to be distributed via telehealth and mail during the Covid pandemic.
In 2023, the ‘Covid’ change to how abortion pills were distributed became permanent.
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) lashed out at Louisiana’s ‘anti-abortion politicians’ after the ruling came down from the appeals court.
“Anti-abortion politicians have just made it much harder for people everywhere in the country to get a medication that abortion and miscarriage patients have been safely using for more than 25 years,” said Julia Kaye, senior staff attorney for the Reproductive Freedom Project of the ACLU.
“Louisiana’s legal attack on mifepristone shamelessly packaged lies and propaganda as an excuse to restrict abortion — and the Fifth Circuit rubber-stamped it,” they said.
“This decision defies clear science and settled law and advances an anti-abortion agenda that is deeply unpopular with the American people,” the ACLU said.
“For countless people, especially those who live in rural areas, face intimate partner violence, or live with disabilities, losing a telemedicine option will mean losing access to this vital medication altogether,” the ACLU added.

A federal appeals court on Friday granted the state of Louisiana’s request to reinstate a nationwide requirement that abortion pills be dispensed in person.
The ruling represents a victory for opponents of abortion rights, since it limits access by blocking people’s ability to obtain mifepristone — one of the two pills used in medication abortions — through telehealth and by mail.
Telehealth prescriptions have been key to maintaining abortion access in states that outlawed or restricted the practice after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022.
During the Covid pandemic, the Food and Drug Administration temporarily eliminated a requirement for mifepristone to be dispensed only in clinics, medical offices and hospitals. The change was then made permanent in 2023.
Louisiana challenged that FDA regulation in federal court last year, alleging that the data to support it was flawed or nonexistent. Multiple studies have shown that mifepristone is safe and effective when taken at home after a consultation with a clinician.
