I Traveled Through TSA Democrat Shutdown Chaos So You Don’t Have To

Thousands of travelers packed into JFK Airport in New York City on Sunday as TSA security lines ground to a standstill.
John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday reflected a level of dysfunction that is difficult to overstate.
The experience was not defined by inconvenience alone; it exposed a systemic breakdown that affected thousands of travelers in real time.
The TSA checkpoint line stretched for hours, baggage drop lines extended deep into the terminal, and even locating the start of security became its own prolonged ordeal.
What should have been a routine travel day turned into a case study in how quickly infrastructure fails when government coordination collapses.
The TSA line itself took approximately four hours for most travelers around me. That figure, while striking on its own, does not fully capture the broader dysfunction. Checking a bag required more than an hour of waiting, often in lines that lacked clear direction or staffing.
Passengers moved slowly through overcrowded terminal spaces, with little guidance on what to do.
For travelers with disabilities, including those requiring wheelchairs, the situation was no better. Accessibility lines mirrored the same delays, reinforcing that this was not an isolated inefficiency but a complete operational failure.
The conditions inside the terminal created an environment that felt increasingly unsafe. Pre-security areas were packed beyond capacity, limiting movement and creating bottlenecks at nearly every point of entry.
With only a handful of TSA agents actively processing passengers, the ratio of staff to travelers appeared severely imbalanced.
That imbalance produced visible consequences. Travelers showed signs of physical distress after standing for extended periods in dense crowds, and multiple incidents appeared to require medical attention. These were immediate, human consequences of a partial government shutdown unfolding in front of thousands of people.
Air travel itself began to break down as a result. Flights were delayed not because of weather or mechanical issues, but because passengers could not physically reach their gates in time.
In several cases (including mine), planes waited for travelers who remained stuck in security lines due to the small number of passengers who actually made it to the flight.
The system had effectively stalled, unable to perform even its most basic function: moving passengers from check-in to departure in a predictable and orderly manner.
This experience is not significant because it was personally frustrating. Rather, the broader significance lies in how government decisions translate directly into real-world consequences.
Policy debates in Washington often feel abstract, removed from daily life. This situation was the opposite.
The failure to maintain full operational funding for the Department of Homeland Security produced extreme disruption to air travel, affecting not only TSA operations but the broader travel system that millions of Americans rely on.
The DHS is not a collection of independent agencies that can function in isolation.
TSA, ICE, FEMA, and the Coast Guard operate as components of a unified structure designed to ensure both security and continuity. Attempting to separate funding for one component while withholding support from another disrupts that structure.
The argument that TSA can function independently of the broader DHS framework does not align with how the system is designed or how it operates in practice.
Recent efforts to redirect personnel, including the temporary use of ICE agents to support TSA operations, underscore the severity of the breakdown.
While such measures may alleviate short-term pressure, they do not address the underlying issue. Reassigning agents from one critical function to another introduces new vulnerabilities elsewhere.
Immigration enforcement cannot be paused indefinitely without consequence.
The real solution is to vote Democrats out of office. While that is a long-term goal, the immediate priority is to present the situation accurately. It must be clearly communicated that the shutdown is the result of Democrat actions—not both parties, and not Republicans.
Democrats often win on messaging, but this is not an issue where they can be allowed to control the narrative.
Out of all the chaos I experienced traveling during the partial government shutdown, one clear takeaway emerged: I have never been more inclined to support Republicans than I am now.

VICTIM BLAMING: Democrat Chicago Alderwoman Says Loyola Student Shot by Illegal Was in ‘Wrong Place, Wrong Time’ (VIDEO)

    Screencap of Twitter/X video.
An 18-year-old Loyola University student named Sheridan Gorman was shot and killed in Chicago over the weekend by an illegal immigrant.
Maria Hadden, a Democrat alderwoman from the city has put out a video in which she says that Gorman may have just been in the wrong place at the wrong time and that she and her friends might have startled the shooter.
This is, by far, the worst reaction to this situation possible. It’s truly stunning.
    The Daily Caller reported:
A Chicago alderwoman appeared to blame an 18-year-old woman for her own fatal shooting last week, allegedly at the hands of an illegal alien.
Chicago police announced Sunday that Jose Medina-Medina had been arrested for the murder of Sheridan Gorman, a freshman at Loyola University. Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden speculated that Gorman was in the “wrong place at the wrong time.”
“From, from what, from what I’ve been told so far, right, from what police know, from, from speaking to the students who were with her, it seems she might have, that as they were just out, you know, people go out to the beach all the time, right?” Hadden, whose campaign website touts her status as the “first Black, queer woman elected to Chicago City Council,” said during a Thursday report by Fox 32 Chicago.
“And they go out on the pier, they walk around, so the, the kids were out doing normal, normal things people do in the neighborhood. And it sounds like this might have been a wrong place, wrong time, running into a person who had a gun, they might have unintentionally startled this person, I think.”
    Here’s the video:

    Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden:

    Is she for real?

    “Wrong place” = anywhere in Chicago”Wrong time” = 24 hours, 7 days a week https://t.co/ltNztNjJ5L
    — End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) March 23, 2026

Has the alderwoman considered the fact that the illegal immigrant shooter was in the wrong place at the wrong time? He is the one that doesn’t belong anywhere in the United States.
It’s just amazing to see how far Democrats will go to defend illegal aliens. They really seem to believe that is who they were elected to serve.

Air Canada Pilots Who Died in Collision with Firetruck at LaGuardia Airport Identified

The two Air Canada pilots who were killed in the collision with the firetruck on the tarmac at New York’s LaGuardia Airport have been identified.
According to CBC, the pilots who died in the crash were identified as pilot Antoine Forest from Coteau-du-Lac, Quebec, and co-pilot MacKenzie Gunther.
The deceased pilots were described as “two young men at the start of their careers.”
National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy said investigators recovered the cockpit recording.
The black box was not damaged.
“They’ve been able to at least verify that the cockpit voice recorder was not damaged,” Homendy said.
“My hope is that we’ll have information to share on that tomorrow,” she said.

Prince George’s County Fire and EMS Department crews returned to Fort Washington Park after finding several more suspected pipe bombs in a remote section of the park. Officials did not provide an exact number.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) said the devices will be taken to its laboratory in the Beltsville, Md., area.
On Sunday, US Park Police officers found five suspected pipe bomb devices, which were all “rendered safe.”
Currently, the National Park Service’s website lists Fort Washington Park as closed until further notice.
The ATF noted that the devices were not recently placed in the park’s woods.
The devices will now be sent to the ATF National Laboratory Center in Ammendale

CNN Forced to Admit ICE Agents Slash Atlanta Airport Wait Times to Under 40 Minute Amid Democrat Partial Shutdown

    Screenshot
Far-left CNN was compelled to report the obvious on Monday: Thanks to President Trump’s decisive deployment of ICE agents to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, security wait times have plummeted from chaotic multi-hour nightmares to under 40 minutes.
At Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, scenes of total travel chaos just hours earlier gave way to something far more manageable.
Long lines that once stretched outside the terminal, leaving travelers stranded for five hours or more, suddenly vanished.
And CNN’s own reporting made it clear when the turnaround happened.

    HOLY CRAP!!!
The Atlanta TSA line has now stretched to a stunning 153 minute-wait-time… AT 6AM IN THE MORNING!!!!
The line is WRAPPING AROUND BAGGAGE CLAIM!!!
    THIS IS PURE INSANITY!!!!!! pic.twitter.com/2MluEMjitJ

    OH MY GOSH!!!
The Atlanta TSA line is so long, that it is not just wrapped around baggage claim…
…BUT IS WRAPPING AROUND THE OUTSIDE OF THE FREAKING BUILDING!!!!
I am hearing that people waited in line for SIX HOURS last night and still missed their flights.
    INSANE!!!!! pic.twitter.com/JP8u7QWmbU
    — Matt Van Swol (@mattvanswol) March 23, 2026

Correspondent Ryan Young admitted on-air that conditions had drastically improved:

    CNN reported Ryan Young:
“Uh, finally, we can take a deep breath here. The numbers have dropped off, the lines are getting shorter. I think the average wait time now is under 40 minutes, so if you have a flight to catch today, it’s a good time to come to Hartsfield-Jackson International.
Talking about those ICE agents—you can see a few behind me right there—and then I’m going to walk you this direction, and you can see some more of them gathered over here. This is what they’ve been doing for the most part today: doing patrols around the airport.”
“Talking and gathering, not really helping the public in the sense that they’re not taking tickets from anybody. They’re not interacting with the public, we’ve seen so far. They’re not checking anyone’s ID. At the TSA checkpoints, they’re not doing that as well.
So the big question is: what have they been doing mostly?”
“Well, it’s been providing perimeter security, as you can see over here. If we come back this direction, there’s also a contingent of officers over here.
And the reason why is what we’re being told—that there’s a protest scheduled against ICE here at the airport in the next two hours or so. So now you have extra police officers from the Atlanta Police Department ready to respond to what may happen when protesters arrive. And we’ve been told they actually applied for a permit.
“So now you’re bringing all these people, surging them into one area. This is where the lines have been long throughout the day. The lines now are gone, so that’s good news.
Whether it’s the north, the south terminals, or even the main checkpoint, we’ve been told that the lines now—again—are under 30 minutes, which is fantastic.”
“That’s after Sunday, when it was more than five hours and we saw lines stretch outside the building. When we arrived here at 6:00 a.m. this morning, there were thousands of people trying to get to the airport.
We talked to several people who we just checked through to try to see how long it would take them. The average wait time was over two hours. And right now, the airport GM is actually telling us they believe the numbers are about a 30% callout.”
“And now we’ve talked to TSA—a steward who tells us, look, they believe things could get better, but they want to get paid sometime soon.”

Travelers are stuck in massive lines, missing flights by hours as the funding battle surrounding DHS continues.
For anyone who is unlucky enough to have to catch a flight, consider taking a moment to thank a Democrat.
    The Gateway Pundit reported,
Senate Democrats have given the world a sneak preview of how they will manage the government if they return to power by effectively shuttering Homeland Security of all mission-critical operations because of a policy disagreement over how ICE, which is housed under the agency, handles deportations of illegal aliens.
The strategy to obstruct DHS operations has become a microcosm for Democratic leadership: at one and the same time, malevolent and incompetent.
Its malevolence is exhibited in the fact that deportations operations are being used as the putative basis for suspending funding indefinitely for the agency.
Its incompetence is on full display in the fact that ICE, the one agency that DHS Democrats hate the most, remains funded and active due to the One Big Beautiful Bill, which allocated hundreds of millions in funds to the subagency separate and apart of the yearly appropriations bills.
Democrats continue to block Republican attempts to fund DHS and end the airport nightmare.
Senator Chuck Schumer desperately attempted to divert attention away from the Democrats by suggesting a suspension of Senate rules to a committee that does not have jurisdiction over spending.
    The Hill reported,
Senate Republicans on Saturday voted against an unusual procedural gambit by Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) to suspend the Senate rules and advance a bill through the Rules Committee to fund the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The motion failed by a party-line vote of 41 to 49. It needed 60 votes to succeed.
Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) dismissed the proposal as a “convoluted” attempt to circumvent the Senate Appropriations Committee, which is engaged in talks with White House border czar Tom Homan to reopen the Department of Homeland Security, whose funding lapsed on Feb. 14.
“This is a Schumer motion to suspend the rules and refer the House message, the bill that we’re on, to the Rules Committee, which doesn’t have jurisdiction over appropriations or spending, and he’s trying to call it a vote to fund TSA?” Thune said on the floor.
Democrats are doing everything they can to avoid funding the Department of Homeland Security, using the suffering of Americans as leverage against immigration enforcement.
For anyone stuck in long lines at the airport, remember to thank a Democrat.

(VIDEO) Trump Goes Off on Democrats, Says He Will Send National Guard to Assist TSA and ICE at Airports

President Trump announced on Monday that he plans to send National Guard troops to assist with airport security amid the ongoing Democratic “extortion” scheme that is causing massive delays at airports across the country.
Trump on Monday surged ICE agents to airports to assist TSA with screening passengers after at least 400 TSA agents quit their jobs due to missing paychecks.
Now, if necessary, Trump says he will send in National Guard troops to provide additional assistance.
Trump ripped the Democrats as “the most destructive, sick people” for refusing to fund the Department of Homeland Security, revealing that he’ll “bring in the National Guard” if ICE agents aren’t enough as he departed from West Palm Beach, Florida, on Monday morning.
    WATCH:
Trump: Yeah, I’d love it. I think it’s great. Let him do that. And I want to thank ICE because they stepped in so, so strongly. They’ll do great. And if that’s not enough, I’ll bring in the National Guard. We’re not going to have the Democrats destroy our country. These people are the most destructive, sick people, the Democrats.
They want— and they’re fighting for this. They’re fighting for men and women’s sports. They’re fighting for transgender for everybody. Everybody go out, get your kid a nice operation, and change the sex of your kid. They’re fighting for— no think of it. They don’t want you to do voter ID.
You walk into a booth in California, if a person who’s doing voting, an official, asks you for identification, they’re subject to being arrested. What’s wrong with this country? So, we’re fighting it hard, and I think they should because the Democrats are being blamed for the shutdown, and it’s their fault, and they’re getting killed. That’s why when I announced yesterday about ICE, the Democrats called, “We want to settle. We want to settle.” And I told the people, don’t settle. Don’t settle because we have something bigger. Only settle if you get the SAVE AMERICA Act, voter ID, and so important proof of citizenship, etc. Thank you very much.

    Rumble(“play”, {“video”:”v75c4lc”,”div”:”rumble_v75c4lc”});
Trump later went off on the Democrats again, doubling down on his plan to potentially call in the Guard to manage airport traffic while speaking at a Memphis Safe Task Force Roundtable in Memphis, Tennessee.
“We’re not going to let this happen. It’s extortion by the Democrats,” he said, accusing the Democrats of acting on behalf of “a criminal element.”
    WATCH:
Trump: The Democrats are fully to blame with the struggle the great American public is going through at the airports. They’re going through a big struggle right now, and we just put ICE in charge, and they’re helping TSA, the agents, and they’re working together, so far, very well. I actually suggested that in the airports they take off their masks, and they did that in the airport.
I’m a big believer in the mask, because we have, you know, Biden allowed hundreds of thousands of killers into our country. We’re rapidly getting them out, by the way, but they would, they would go after these people if they knew exactly who they were. But in the airports is different. I didn’t like, I didn’t love to look in the airport as you get off the plane, so I made a request, and they agreed to it. So, they’re not going to be doing that.
We will also bring out— if we don’t have enough, we will bring out the National Guard, and you know where we need it, to help out at the airports. But we’re not going to let this happen. It’s extortion by the Democrats. They’re holding up money that’s already been approved, and now they’re willing to go $5 billion reduction in ICE in order to get the approval on a deal that they approved, the great Big Beautiful deal, which is the biggest tax cut in history, the biggest regulation cut in history. They want to basically renegotiate a deal that they already approved, and they’re doing it for, largely, for a criminal element.

President Trump on Monday visited Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate in Memphis, Tennessee.
Earlier Monday, President Trump traveled to Memphis to “highlight the remarkable progress in restoring safety to a city long ranked among the nation’s most dangerous.”
“President Trump’s leadership, the Memphis Safe Task Force — a decisive, aggressive federal intervention involving the National Guard and a host of federal agencies — has crushed violent crime where the policies of Democrats had failed,” the White House said.
“The results are undeniable — proof that strong leadership, tough enforcement, and zero tolerance for criminals deliver real public safety and transform communities,” the White House said.
Overall crime in Memphis is down more than 43% compared to the same period last year — a dramatic drop from the bloodshed ushered in by the failed policies of the past.

Motor vehicle thefts are down 67%.
    Robberies are down 51%.
    Sexual assaults are down 38%.
    Homicides are down 35%.
    Burglaries are down 32%.
    Aggravated assaults are down 31%.

Later Monday, President Trump traveled to Elvis Presley’s mansion and was given a tour of Graceland.
“Who doesn’t love Elvis?” President Trump said as he entered through the front door.
“Everybody loves Elvis, right” Trump said.
“I’m a big fan of Elvis,” the president said.
“I understood his life. His life was complicated,” Trump said.
