There is only one National Anthem. And it’s the only one Americans should honor by standing, hand over heart.
However, in their never-ending quest to placate woke social justice warriors, the NFL decided to play what they would like to convince America is the ‘Black national anthem’ prior to Sunday’s Super Bowl game.
Former Arizona Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake wasn’t having any of the nonsense.
An image quickly circulated of Lake sitting in her seat, looking incredibly unimpressed, while others around her stood during the playing of the so-called anthem.
On social media, she responded to the image writing, “I’m just here for THE National Anthem.”

Kari Lake Refuses to Stand for ‘Black National Anthem’
Sunday marked the first time the ‘Black national anthem’ was played before the Super Bowl game, a milestone Kari Lake seemingly couldn’t have cared less about.
Nor should she have.
The National Football League (NFL) announced in 2020 that they would have the song “Lift Ev’ry Voice and Sing” either performed live or played on a recording before the actual National Anthem during their weekly contests.
Because apparently being woke means having separate anthems – black and white – for separate people. That sounds an awful lot like segregation.
But then, that’s what leftists want – to set us back 100 years in race relations by reversing roles. At some point down the line, there’s no doubt they’ll push to have the ‘Black national anthem’ played as the exclusive song prior to the big game.

Support For Lake
Nothing quite exemplifies the hypocrisy of the NFL quite like having end zone messages stating “end racism” while trying to divide America by race. And yet, that’s exactly what they are trying to do.
Kari Lake was right to sit during the ‘Black national anthem.’ In fact, the only thing that would have been better is if she moved into the center aisle and took a knee instead.
Many people saw the image of Lake sitting while other mindless lemmings stood for a fake national anthem and commended her.
Singer Lisa Matassa responded to the photo saying, “For the record, it’s ‘ONE NATION UNDER GOD’. No reason whatsoever to sow the seeds of division with two National Anthems during the #SuperBowlLVII.”

“The REAL national anthem is for ALL people,” one person replied to Lake.
“Proud of her!” wrote Newsmax contributor and former lawyer to President Donald Trump, Jenna Ellis.
Radio host Todd Starnes pointed out how the woke liberal mob would have blasted her whether she stood or sat for the ‘Black national anthem.’
“There’s no reason to stand for a song that is not our national anthem — but had (Lake) stood — they would’ve accused her of cultural appropriation,” he mused.

No doubt.
Aside from putting a pathetic, nearly no tackle product on the field, decided by referees who have clearly taken more social justice classes than officiating classes, we now have to sit through constant lectures during the game about how racist America is.
Hence the need for a fake ‘Black national anthem.’
On the flip side of the current debate, there is this.
In 2016 the Dallas Cowboys were forbidden from wearing decals honoring fallen members of the Dallas Police Department.
The Cowboys had requested an opportunity to commemorate those who fell victim to the Dallas shooting in July of 2016, in which officers were specifically targeted.
The NFL denied that request. 
Watching this garbage league is like watching ‘The View’ but with the hosts wearing shoulder pads. They’re woke. They’re hypocritical. And they’re pathetic.

The White House over the weekend announced that Ben Labolt, a press adviser to former President Barack Obama, had been promoted to White House Communications Director.
In doing so, however, they revealed their focus when it comes to choosing people for high-ranking roles in the administration.
“Ben is making history,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre proudly announced to reporters. 
“As you know, we believe, here in the Biden-Haris White House, that representation matters,” she continued. “He will be the first openly gay Communications Director, which is very, very important indeed.”

Ben Labolt is Gay – And That is What’s Important
Karine Jean-Pierre’s comments on Labolt’s hiring left many viewers baffled. Why is it important for a ‘communications director’ to be openly gay? Not just gay, but openly gay.
It’s a mystery.
Worse, hiring people or not hiring people based on their race, gender, or sexual orientation was illegal once upon a time.
Instead, you have the White House proudly proclaiming the importance of being gay for a very important and high-paying position from the briefing room for all the world to hear.

Labolt, don’t get me wrong, has the overall qualifications to do the job for a Democrat administration. But how many straight people were passed over for the job because they didn’t meet the desired demographics?
If somebody else had been hired and an ‘openly gay’ candidate was passed over, you could bet your ass there would be lawsuits filed for violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

The Diversity Hire Administration
If anybody would know about being an unqualified diversity hire, it’d be Karine Jean-Pierre. She is an idiot savant, minus the savant part.
On the daily, she fumbles her way around the podium, giant binder in hand to guide her even as she fails to answer basic questions. Recently, she struggled with the word ‘Canada.’

In a sane world, Jean-Pierre wouldn’t be conveying messages on behalf of the leader of the free world. But she’s black, she’s a woman, and she’s gay. And that is very, very important indeed.
Speaking of ‘woman’ we now have a sitting Supreme Court Justice who can’t define what a woman is because she’s not a biologist.

Ketanji Brown Jackson doesn’t know what a woman is but she now sits on the highest court in the land. Why? Because President Biden openly advertised that he would make a nomination to the court based on their skin color and gender. It had to be a black woman.
Which is discriminatory. And illegal.
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg also checks the right box for a diversity hire. Sure he’s as white as the driven snow, but damn it he’s gay, and that’s what matters.
In fact, he’s so super-woke that he took nearly two months for paternity leave while America was mired in a supply chain crisis. How’s that hire working out?

Vice President Kamala Harris was chosen to run alongside Biden because of the optics she provides. And she continues to provide material that would be absolutely hilarious if it weren’t so sad.

Buttigieg, Harris, Jackson, and Jean-Pierre are all borderline incompetent when it comes to handling their jobs. They were chosen exclusively based on certain characteristics. And they are all failures.
Best of luck to Labolt. Let’s hope he doesn’t fall into the same category of failed diversity hires.

The portion of students taking advantage of Arizona’s Empowerment Scholarship Account program after previously attending a public school has dramatically shifted. 
According to the latest information from the Arizona Department of Education, the ESA program now has 47,200 students participating. The data, released Monday, is a marked increase from the roughly 30,000 students participating in January.
“We get 150 new applications a day,” said Christine Accurso, executive director of the ESA program. “When we first started on Jan. 3, we were at about 120 a day.”
Accurso shared with The Center Square a change in the proportion of ESA students who were at one time a student of a public school in the state.
“Back in August, the Department of Education announced that 75% of the students that were in the ESA program had never had any public school experience,” Accurso said. “That number today is 51%.” 
Accurso can easily arrive at this number because students who never enrolled in a public school in Arizona lack a state ID. 
“If you look at all of the ESAs that we have and who has a state ID and who doesn’t, 51% do not and 49% do,” she said. “You’re seeing a lot more people leave the public school system.”

Arizona’s ESA program allows parents to take 90% of the state allocation meant for a public school student and use that to pay for their child’s private school tuition or a host of other educational materials.
Former Gov. Doug Ducey ushered through the Arizona Legislature an expansion of the program to apply to any student, not just those whose parents are low-income or have a disability. The ESA program allows around $7,000 for parents in the form of a pre-paid card.
Critics of the program say the approved expenses lack oversight. Accurso, who oversees the approval process, said any approved expenses must be tied to the student’s curriculum. 
Newly-elected Gov. Katie Hobbs said in her State of the State address that the program would bankrupt the state’s budget. She promised to roll the program back. 
“Funding this expansion is poised to cost Arizona taxpayers an estimated $1.5 billion over the next 10 years if left unaddressed,” she said. 
Accurso said a rollback of the ESA program represents pulling potentially thousands of students out of a school where they’re thriving. 
“That’s horrible,” she said. “We would never want to move a child from a school they’re thriving in that parents put them in.”

Arizona’s legislative leaders have assured the department that they will not allow the ESA program to be rolled back, Accurso said. 
Accurso expects the spring to bring an increase in ESA applications for students applying to private schools for the 2023-2024 school year.

The pool of candidates for the 2024 GOP nomination might begin to swell up over the next month, meaning that former President Donald Trump will have to fight for his party’s nomination after all in order to face off against Joe Biden in the general election. 
While many names including former Ambassador Nikki Haley, Secretary Mike Pompeo, Vice President Mike Pence, and current Governors Ron DeSantis and Glenn Youngkin have been tossed into the potential field of Republicans, insiders are now adding South Carolina Senator Tim Scott and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy into the mix as well.

Tim Scott’s Time to Shine?
According to congressional Reporter Eliza Collins from the Wall Street Journal, Senator Scott is “taking steps to run for president.”
Scott made the rounds nationally during the 2022 midterm elections where he made a series of endorsements and campaign appearances with Republicans. While not an uncommon thing for a popular senator or politician to do, it only adds fuel to the fire of speculation since now he will also be traveling to Iowa, which is the first voting state for the Republican primaries, in late February.
According to Forbes, Scott “has made key hires for a super PAC in support of his political ambitions, Axios reported last week, and is set to hold a listening tour starting this week in celebration Black History Month in which he will promote a message of ‘hope and opportunity.’”
Senator Mike Rounds of South Dakota has publicly expressed his support for a potential Scott presidential campaign. 
“Having Tim get into the race would be very well-received by a number of members of the Senate, me included,” Sen. Rounds said in an interview with The Hill. “He’s sharp. He’s got a business background. He’s got a great personal story.”
“There’s a number of us that have basically been encouraging him to at least consider that type of run,” he continued. “This is good news, we think, that he’s at least exploring the possibility.”

Who is Vivek Ramaswamy?
Vivek Ramaswamy is a bestselling author (“Woke Inc.” and “Nation of Victims”) and entrepreneur who has founded multiple companies in the healthcare sector. The 37-year-old businessman is a first generation American, with his parents having migrated from India to Ohio where Ramaswamy was born and raised.
According to Daniel Lippman from Politico, Ramaswamy is currently eyeing a presidential run which seems to be gaining some traction towards an official announcement after he made a visit to Iowa for a speaking appearance last week.
“He [Ramaswamy] is exploring a run for president,” wrote Lippman, “testing, among other things, whether his warnings about the dangers of ‘wokeism’ and socially-responsible investing — in business vernacular what’s called environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing — has political currency with Republican politicians, business leaders and, yes, farmers.”
Lippman continues that Ramaswamy want to “pull off what Donald Trump did in 2016: enter the race with an entrepreneurial spirt, unorthodox ideas, and few expectations, and end up developing a major following that will carry him.”

Everyone vs Donald Trump
Former President Donald Trump, the only official 2024 GOP candidate thus far, has held a steady lead as the public leader of the GOP since leaving office in 2021, and despite the contested election results and looming presence of the January 6 Capitol riot, has maintained the position of favored candidate among Republicans to face President Joe Biden in 2024.
However, while other candidates may attempt to fight for their shot at the nomination, most polling indicates this fight could ultimately come down to Trump and DeSantis, should DeSantis officially enter the race.
According to the latest Monmouth University Poll published on February 9, “While Trump has gained some ground over the past two months, he trails DeSantis in a head-to-head contest. At the same time, either candidate is preferred to other popular Republican officeholders, suggesting that the race is a two-person contest in most GOP voters’ minds right now.”
Other potential candidates outside of Trump (33%) and DeSantis (33%) who received mentions by poll participates included Mike Pence (2%), Nikkie Haley (1%), Ted Cruz (1%), Rand Paul (1%), and Mike Pompeo (1%). 
“Trump and DeSantis are grabbing most of the media attention,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute. “So it is not surprising that most Republican voters do not come up with any names other than these two.”

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants the Legislature to restrict politically motivated banking and investment policies with taxpayer funds and protect Floridians from discrimination from the banking industry in the upcoming session.
DeSantis held a news conference in Naples Monday to discuss legislative proposals to address environmental, social and governance investment policies. While ESG was prohibited in investment decisions for the state’s pension program through the State Board of Administration last year, DeSantis wants more restrictions.
New bills will be introduced during the regular session that are intended to safeguard Floridians from discrimination from large banks and financial institutions for their political, religious or social beliefs and ensure that fund managers invest solely on maximizing rates of return when investing taxpayer funds.
Under new bills that will be considered by the Legislature, banks will also be prohibited in Florida from using social credit scores when making banking and lending decisions. Monetary deposits from state and local governments will be prohibited with institutions that are pursuing the ESG agenda.

State and local governments would also be prohibited from considering, giving preference to or requesting information about ESG as part of the procurement and contracting process.
“We believe that this is an elite driven phenomenon, it is not ultimately going to be a road that is going to be good for this country and it’s not going to be good for other industrialized countries.” DeSantis said.
According to DeSantis, ESG is a way to inject political ideologies into investment decisions, corporate governance and the every day economy.
“That is not ultimately something that is going to work out well for us here in Florida, or in the United States of America.” DeSantis said.
DeSantis noted that the average citizen does not want ESG, and that the ideas are coming from both within the U.S and internationally. DeSantis noted that most of these ideological governance programs come from places like the annual World Economic Forum meeting held in Davos, Switzerland.
“One of their big targets is energy production, they do not like us producing more oil and gas, they do not want us to be energy independent.” DeSantis said, adding that it’s a bad policy because it affects the amount that Floridians have to pay for energy to get to work and live.
“It affects our national security, when you have to go to foreign countries that are hostile to us to try to get energy, that is not a good place to be in.” DeSantis said. “Why does that affect our national security? Well one of the major things facing our country that we need to do is recapture all the supply chains and bring them out of China.”

DeSantis pointed out that during the COVID-19 lockdowns, most consumer goods were produced in China and noted that China is not an ally of the United States and that ESG gives China a competitive advantage.
Constraints on personal investments would also be part of adopting ESG policies and DeSantis said that people should be able to invest their money where they want – like oil and gas companies. DeSantis added shareholder funds were being used to fund these ideological policies.
“That is not an appropriate use of corporate power.” DeSantis said.
DeSantis also said that banks were using procedures like social credit scores for companies, similar to what has been implemented under the Chinese Communist Party.
“That is not something that is acceptable here in the State of Florida.” DeSantis said, adding that those who are being targeted the most, are those who do not follow the same ideology held by the “jet setters in Davos.”
“They are not accountable to you, they are not accountable to us, and I think ultimately it does represent a threat, not just to a smooth and prosperous economy, but also our very freedom itself.” DeSantis said.

In January, Border Patrol agents apprehended 1,402 foreign nationals illegally entering Florida, according to preliminary data obtained by The Center Square from a Border Patrol agent on condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation. 
They also reported 58 gotaways, those who were known and reported to have illegally entered and got evaded capture by law enforcement. Combined, these totaled 1,460.
The sector also reported 2,083 turnbacks, those who attempted to enter illegally but were turned away, and 675 “outstanding,” meaning they didn’t have enough information to categorize the incidents of detected traffic they reported.
The January data is up from 1,399 apprehensions and 40 gotaways, previously reported by The Center Square last month.
It’s also slightly down from December, when Miami Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended a record 1,664 illegal foreign nationals and 107 gotaways, according to preliminary data obtained by The Center Square. The preliminary data excludes Office of Field Operations data. 
The numbers continue to break records after the Miami Border Patrol Sector reported a significant increase in apprehensions over the last several months and a 500% increase in apprehensions in fiscal 2022 compared to fiscal 2021.

From Sept. 1, 2021, to Oct. 31, 2022, Miami Sector Border Patrol agents apprehended 2,350 foreign nationals attempting to enter Florida illegally by sea. The majority were Cubans.
They also stopped 131 maritime smuggling events, a 330% increase from fiscal 2021, Miami Sector Chief Agent Walter Slosar said in December.
Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz announced on Feb. 1 that, since Oct. 1, 2022, Miami Sector agents had responded to 246 migrant landings and encountered over 4,400 migrants. He also said the sector increased personnel and worked with federal, state and local agencies to deter, detect and interdict illegal maritime attempts in Florida. 
On Feb. 9, Slosar issued an alert stating that “Border Patrol agents and law enforcement partners were responding to a migrant landing near Tavernier, Florida, involving a large number of individuals. There is an increased presence of law enforcement and first responders in the area.”
He later provided an update, stating that 114 Haitians had been apprehended and transferred to a local Border Patrol station for processing.
The day before, agents took into custody 26 Cubans after they made landfall in the Marquesas Keys, uninhabited islands west of Key West. 
The day before, they responded to a smuggling event where they encountered 3 Chinese, one Haitian and two Dominican Republic nationals. The same day, U.S. Coast Guard officers interdicted a smuggling operation using a sailboat near Lake Worth and apprehended 23 Haitians. 
Of those on the sailboat, one suspected smuggler was arrested and “will be prosecuted by U.S. Border Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations-Miami,” CBP AMO Regional Director SE announced. 
On Feb. 6, agents arrested a “Columbian national with a significant criminal history and an active arrest warrant in Texas for his involvement in organized crime related to theft and fraud,” Slosar said. He was turned over to local authorities for extradition. 
On Feb. 3, BP agents and law enforcement partners apprehended a group of 29 Cubans after they landed in the Florida Keys. The day before, they arrested 30 Cubans who landed at the Dry Tortugas National Park, including 19 adults and 11 juveniles. 
Dry Tortugas National Park on Jan. 2 temporarily closed and prohibited public access so law enforcement and medical personnel could deal with a group of 300 Cubans and others who’d arrived.

After 500 people were apprehended off Key West around New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, Gov. Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency. He issued an executive order activating the National Guard and other state resources “to protect Floridians from the dangerous impacts of the Biden Border crisis.
Miami Sector agents, responsible for patrolling 1,200 miles of coastal border in Florida, regularly work with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies, including the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, which has jurisdiction over the Florida Keys.
An influx of people has become “particularly burdensome for the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office,” DeSantis’ office said, which has 194 deputies and limited resources dedicated to providing public safety.
“The number of individuals attempting to come to the United States and unauthorized alien interdictions in and around Florida have risen to alarming levels not seen for decades,” DeSantis’ order states. Since last August, federal, state and local officials have interdicted more than 8,000 people in Florida’s territorial waters alone, he said.

President Joe Biden is taking criticism after the IRS said it will go after service industry tips in a new effort to increase collection.
The IRS issued new guidance this week for a “voluntary tip reporting program” for service industry employers.
The plan allows for the “monitoring of employer compliance based on actual annual tip revenue and charge tip data from an employer’s point-of-sale system, and allowance for adjustments in tipping practices from year to year.”
The IRS incentivizes employers to allow this monitoring by saying “employers receive protection from liability” and that it makes them less likely to receive a “compliance review” from the IRS.
“Participating employers demonstrate compliance with the program requirements by submitting an annual report after the close of the calendar year, which reduces the need for compliance reviews by the IRS,” the IRS said.
Republicans blasted Biden over the new plan.
“Stop the presses. No need to raise the debt limit,” said Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky. “Biden is going after those billionaire waitresses’ tips,” he added, apparently referencing Biden’s call for a billionaires tax.

The effort comes the same week Biden emphasized in his State of the Union address that no one making less than $400,000 will pay more in taxes.
In the speech, Biden also called for the “wealthiest and biggest corporations to begin to pay their fair share,” and proposed quadrupling the tax on corporate stock buybacks from 1% to 4%, a proposal critics say would cost countless jobs.
“Look, I’m a capitalist, but pay your fair share,” Biden said. “The idea that in 2020, 55 of the largest corporations in America, the Fortune 500, made $40 billion in profits and paid zero in federal taxes … folks, it’s simply not fair.”
Biden also touted the 15% minimum tax on book income passed in the Inflation Reduction Act in his speech.
A more aggressive IRS is not new. Biden has made clear since taking office that it is a key part of his agenda. The president pushed for greater IRS enforcement to fund some of his spending as an alternative to raising taxes. The main thrust of that plan came through the previous Democrat-led Congress funding 87,000 new IRS agents to audit Americans and thus increase revenue.
“Joe Biden’s radical war on the working class just expanded to tipped workers, further proof that working-class Americans who make less than $75,000 will bear the brunt of over 710,000 new IRS audits under the newly supercharged IRS,” said Ways and Means Committee Chairman Rep. Jason Smith, R-Mo. “While the president talked a big game about going after billionaires in his partisan State of the Union address, it’s clear that the White House is doubling down on crazy and prioritizing going after hardworking middle-class employees.”

House Republicans voted to defund Biden’s extra IRS agents earlier this year, but that bill will almost certainly not become law on Biden’s watch.
“When Biden says the IRS is going after millionaires and billionaires, apparently he means the ones that are waitresses living off of tips,” said Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo.

ChatGPT, an AI program capable of responding to queries in great detail, has captured the interest of the world. But when asked to serve in a congressional capacity, the program essentially turned into an incompetent far-left Squad member.
Last month, reports surfaced indicating the chatbot tool had passed law school exams at the University of Minnesota Law School. That same month, the program generated a speech delivered by Representative Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) on the floor of the House.
The Washington Times, however, assigned ChatGPT with tasks expected of a lawmaker and in a roundabout way delivered exactly what you would expect … from a Democrat lawmaker.
“Its comprehension of government was stunted,” the Times wrote, a commentary you could easily assign to somebody with the last name of say, Ocasio-Cortez, or Pressley.
“It boiled complex issues down to book report analysis,” they continued. “It also showed bias: ChatGPT tilted far to the left and at times seemed unable to comprehend conservative points of view.”
It’s basically Hakeem Jeffries, just slightly more charming.

ChatGPT is Fundamentally a Left-Wing Democrat
The Washington Times experiment further noted that ChatGPT refused to write a bill funding construction of the border wall, with the AI describing it as a “controversial topic.”
When asked to draw up legislation that bans abortion in all circumstances except for when the life of the mother is at risk, it also balked.
However, when the outlet requested a bill banning assault weapons, ChatGPT “delivered.”
“Legislation to defund U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement? No problem,” they added.

Elon Musk – ‘Concerning’
The Washington Times revealed that when a machine learning expert put ChatGPT through some tests, he discovered it was clearly a left-wing AI program.
That expert “ran 15 tests of political orientation on ChatGPT, and 14 of them diagnosed its answers as leftward political preferences.”
The latest experiment with the program comes as reports indicated the program was so woke that it would allow nuclear annihilation before ever uttering a racial slur.

That is, in a word, terrifying.
Other reports of a less serious nature show that ChatGPT refused to write a poem – a task that is popular for users to request – for Donald Trump but was all too anxious to pen one for President Biden.
“A leader with a heart of gold; Joe Biden, a name to hold; With empathy and grace he leads; Inspiring all with noble deeds,” the program wrote.

The ChatGPT responses were described by Tesla CEO Elon Musk as “extremely concerning.”
Which is putting it rather mildly consider the real-world implications.
The program is being touted as a means to improve office tasks and performance.
The New York Times ran an op-ed recently calling on schools to utilize ChatGPT in the classroom.
“Schools should thoughtfully embrace ChatGPT as a teaching aid — one that could unlock student creativity, offer personalized tutoring, and better prepare students to work alongside A.I. systems as adults,” they wrote.
Not only do they want left-wing indoctrination at our jobs and in our schools, but they want computer-generated AI programs like ChatGPT to indoctrinate children and workers with left-wing ideology as well.
Which should be, as Musk said, extremely concerning.
