Republican Sen. Josh Hawley has introduced a bill to ban social media for children under 16.
The bill, called the Making Age-Verification Technology Uniform, Robust, and Effective (MATURE) Act, would require platforms to verify that a user is over 16 before allowing them to create an account.
To do this, users would be required to provide their full legal name, date of birth, and government-issued identification to verify their information.
“Children suffer every day from the effects of social media. At best, Big Tech companies are neglecting our children’s health and monetizing their personal information. At worst, they are complicit in their exploitation and manipulation. It’s time to give parents the weapons they need to strike back,” said Senator Hawley in a statement.
“That starts with an age restriction for social media,” the senator continued. “And it’s long past time for well-funded research on the scale of the problem. We must set the precedent that these companies can no longer take advantage of our children.”
The legislation would hold social media companies accountable by creating an audit process and a private right of action.
Hawley has also introduced a bill called the Federal Social Media Research Act, which would commission a report on the harms of social media and fully fund a longitudinal study to track social media’s effects on children over 10 years.
The bill states, “Such study shall aim to assess in particular any relationship between social media use patterns and the following medical conditions: Suicidality, Anxiety, Depression, Eating disorders, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and Gender dysphoria.
Earlier this week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released The Youth Risk Behavior Survey Data Summary & Trends Report: 2011–2021.
The study found that “approximately 57% of female students surveyed reported persistent feelings of sadness and hopelessness, 25% made a suicide plan, and 10% attempted suicide in 2021. In 2011, 13% of boys and 19% of girls said they had seriously considered killing themselves. In 2021, 14% of boys and 30% of girls expressed the same sentiment.”

Former MSNBC host Krystal Ball recently appeared on the Joe Rogan podcast and made some revealing contents about the inner workings of the far left network.
According to Ball, she criticized Hillary Clinton on the air ahead of the 2016 election and was ultimately called into her boss’s office where she was told all future comments about Hillary would have to be approved by the network president.
This is the same network that accused FOX News of being ‘state-run media’ when Trump was president.

Former MSNBC host Krystal Ball claims she was given a slap on the wrist for criticizing Hillary Clinton leading up to the 2016 election, and was told that if she wanted to continue criticizing Clinton on air, she needed to obtain approval from the network’s president.
Ball’s comments came during an episode of Joe Rogan’s popular “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, where Ball is a regular guest.
“Shortly before I was let go, I did a monologue when Hillary Clinton was building up to run for president,” Ball said on a recent episode of the podcast. “It was back in 2014, so it was early on and I did this whole thing that was like, ‘She sold out to Wall Street. People are gonna hate this lady. She’s like a terrible candidate for the moment. Please don’t run.’ And I was allowed to say it, I delivered my thing, I did it exactly how I wanted to do it. Afterwards, I get pulled into an office and you know, ‘Great monologue, everything’s fine. But next time you do any commentary on Hillary Clinton, it has to get approved by the president of the network.’”
Ball added that the incident never stopped her from continuing to comment on Clinton, but it did impact the manner in which she did it.

FBI agents searched the University of Delaware at least twice in connection with the investigation into Joe Biden’s stolen classified documents.
The FBI searched the University of Delaware with the “consent” of Joe Biden’s lawyers in recent weeks, according to CNN.
FBI agents seized materials from two university locations, the outlet said.
CNN reported:
The FBI has conducted two searches at the University of Delaware in connection with the investigation into President Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents, a source familiar with the investigation told CNN.
The previously undisclosed searches were conducted in recent weeks, with the consent and cooperation of the president’s legal team, the source said.
The library at the University of Delaware, Biden’s alma mater, is home to an extensive collection of papers from the president’s time in the Senate, according to its website.
Investigators retrieved materials from two university locations on two different days. The material did not appear to have classified markings, according to the source, but they are now being reviewed by the FBI.
They examined two separate batches of documents during the searches: an archive of materials from Biden’s time in the US Senate and documents that Biden sent to the university in recent years.
FBI agents searched Joe Biden’s Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach homes looking for classified documents.
Feds also conducted a search of the Penn Biden Center in DC.
Biden’s spokesman Ian Sams earlier this month refused to answer if the FBI searched any other locations for classified documents.
He didn’t come clean about the FBI searches at the University of Delaware.

El Paso, Texas- Tragedy has struck the city of El Paso as police have confirmed one person was killed and three other were wounded as a result of a shooting inside Cielo Vista Mall.
Police say they have have one person in custody but there may be another shooter who has not been detained.
Two of the wounded individuals are in critical condition.
The first calls about shots fired came in around 5:10 Mountain Time according to police.
Law Enforcement officers remain on scene.
The El Paso Times reported:
A person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting Wednesday evening inside Cielo Vista Mall, El Paso police confirmed.
“We have one person in custody,” El Paso Police Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Gomez said at a news conference. One more person might be involved as well but has not been detained, he added. No description of the outstanding suspect was available.
“We don’t have any active shooters at this time,” Gomez said. “All we know right now that it’s isolated to Cielo Vista Mall.”
He said the shooting was inside the mall, but could not confirm it was at the food court.
Cellphone videos posted on social media showed customers running out of the mall into the parking lot as police rushed to the scene. A young man was detained nearby.
Gomez said the first calls came in at 5:10 p.m. about shots fired, and multiple law enforcement units responded.
One person died in the shooting and three others were injured, he said. The injured were transported to area hospitals.
“We have two patients, both in critical condition,” said University Medical Center of El Paso spokesman Ryan Mielke. He said he didn’t know the patients’ ages or genders yet.
El Paso police, including the SWAT team, and units from other agencies responded to help clear and secure the mall he added.
He said the shooting suspect was taken into custody soon after the attack, but did not know the suspect’s gender or age.
A large police presence remained at the mall Wednesday night. The public is asked by police officials to stay away from the area.
Some customers and mall employees took shelter inside the mall.
The El Paso Police Department issued a citywide tactical alert as numerous agencies responded.
Cielo Vista Mall is next to the Walmart store where a gunman killed 23 people on Aug. 3, 2019. The Walmart shooter pleaded guilty last week to federal hate crime charges in the mass shooting targeting Latinos.

A Blackhawk military helicopter crashed near Huntsville, Alabama on Wednesday, killing everyone on board.
“We have no survivors,” Investigator Brent Patterson said. “We have a crime scene here. We have it taped off.”
U.S. military officials said two people on board were killed.
The crash occurred at approximately 3 p.m. near the intersection of Burwell Road and Highway 53 near Huntsville, Alabama. This is about 10 miles northwest of Huntsville.

The National Guard Bureau confirmed that the helicopter belonged to the Tennessee National Guard and was on a routine training mission.
Redstone Arsenal released the following statement after the crash:
Redstone Arsenal leaders are aware of reports of a helicopter incident near Highway 53 in Huntsville. First responders are on scene, and Redstone Arsenal is in full support of local authorities in their active investigation. Initial investigations have not determined that the incident is connected to Redstone Arsenal assets, and we will continue to support community authorities as the situation develops.
Alabama Republican Congressman Dale Strong expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the crash.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is never one to hold back — and she certainly isn’t doing so when it comes to neoconservative presidential hopeful Nikki Haley.
The congresswoman has blasted Haley as “Bush in heels.”
“Nikki Haley is just another George (or Jeb!) Bush,” Greene tweeted on Wednesday. “She is weak on the border, doesn’t want a wall, claimed ‘Legal Immigrants are more patriotic than most Americans these days,’ and she defended Obama when Pres. Trump criticized his terrible open-borders policy.”
Greene continued, “and Nikki Haley refused to support a transgender bathroom bill to protect children.”

Prior to Haley formally announcing her run, former President Donald Trump took a swipe at her as well.
“Nikki has to follow her heart, not her honor,” Trump wrote. “She should definitely run!”

Trump also included a video from April 2021 of the hawkish politician saying, “I would not run if President Trump ran” in 2024.
“I would not run if President Trump ran and I would talk to him about it. That’s something that we’ll have a conversation about at some point if that decision is something that has to be made,” Haley said in the video.

Federal prosecutors investigating Trump’s handling of classified documents are seeking testimony from Trump’s lawyer, M. Evan Corcoran.
Trump lawfully stored presidential records at Mar-a-Lago but Joe Biden sent his machine gun-toting thugs to raid the Florida residence last summer.

Recall, Corcoran recently appeared before a Washington DC federal grand jury and asserted attorney-client privilege on President Trump’s behalf.
Mr. Corcoran refused to answer questions so now the prosecutors are seeking to the turn the screws on him to compel testimony.
The team of prosecutors working for Special Counsel Jack Smith are investigating whether Trump ‘obstructed justice’ in refusing to comply with demands to return his presidential records following a subpoena that was issued last June.
The New York Times reported:
Federal prosecutors overseeing the investigation into former President Donald J. Trump’s handling of classified documents are seeking to pierce assertions of attorney-client privilege and compel one of his lawyers to answer more questions before a grand jury, according to two people familiar with the matter, adding an aggressive new dimension to the inquiry and underscoring the legal peril facing Mr. Trump.
The prosecutors have sought approval from a federal judge to invoke what is known as the crime-fraud exception, which allows them to work around attorney-client privilege when they have reason to believe that legal advice or legal services have been used in furthering a crime. The fact that prosecutors invoked the exception in a sealed motion to compel the testimony of the lawyer, M. Evan Corcoran, suggests that they believe Mr. Trump or his allies might have used Mr. Corcoran’s services in that way.
Among the questions that the Justice Department has been examining since last year is whether Mr. Trump or his associates obstructed justice in failing to comply with demands to return a trove of government material he took with him from the White House upon leaving office, including hundreds of documents with classified markings.
It remains unclear what questions Mr. Corcoran sought to avoid answering by asserting attorney-client privilege or what crime the Justice Department cited in invoking the crime-fraud exception in its motion to Judge Beryl A. Howell, the chief judge in the Washington federal courthouse, who oversees all grand jury matters.
But after his appearance in front of the grand jury, Mr. Corcoran received notice that the Justice Department was seeking to use the exception to break through his assertions of privilege. Judge Howell, who has consistently decided in the government’s favor on privilege issues surrounding Mr. Trump, will ultimately rule on the department’s request about Mr. Corcoran. She will be stepping down from the position of chief judge next month.

Brandon Straka from the Walkaway campaign released Part 1 of “The American Prisoner” today.
Brandon Straka started the campaign “Walkaway” after the 2016 when he decided to take an honest look at why Americans voted for President Trump in that election.  Straka soon came to the conclusion that these voters weren’t stupid like the far-left media portrayed, rather they were concerned about their country and wanted an outsider to fix the mess that the US had become.
After digging into it all he began recommending others to do the same and he started the very successful “Walkaway Campaign” on social media.
Fast forward to Jan 6, 2021. Straka was at the Capitol protesting with the million people who showed up that day to hear President Trump speak.  Americans knew the 2020 election results were uncertifiable and as a result, the election was stolen from President Trump.
Straka saw no riots on the side of the Capitol that he was on.  People were praying and singing.  He never entered the Capitol.  A short time later the corrupt DOJ charged him with bogus crimes and made his life hell for the next year while they tried to force him under duress to plea to bogus crimes knowing he did nothing wrong.  The DOJ’s actions were criminal.
Straka was eventually sentenced to 3 months for protesting the 2020 election.

East Palestine, Ohio “controlled” explosion and resulting toxic chemical mushroom cloud.
On February 3, 2023, a Norfolk Southern freight train hauling carcinogenic chemicals derailed in the small town of East Palestine, Ohio, sending plumes of dangerous gas into the atmosphere during a “controlled release” burn.  The main chemical mentioned in reports, vinyl chloride, is used to make PVC.  Exposure to vinyl chloride is known to cause certain cancers, according to Cancer.gov:
Vinyl chloride exposure is associated with an increased risk of a rare form of liver cancer (hepatic angiosarcoma), as well as primary liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma), brain and lung cancers, lymphoma, and leukemia.
The Gateway Pundit reported earlier about additional chemicals that were disclosed as being a part of this derailment and the impact its having thus far on local wildlife.  Fish and aquatic life are turning up dead in local creeks and rivers that feed into the Ohio River and eventually, the Mississippi River.  Most residents, however, have been told they can return safely to their homes.
TGP will be releasing more articles specifically focused on the preventability of this accident, but first, the direct cause needs to be clear: shocking video released by the Post-Gazette shows CCTV footage of the Norfolk Southern train moments before it derailed.  In this video, the axles on one car appear to be on fire.  This is confirmed by a photo shown to The Gateway Pundit in color and with a timestamp.   The timestamp on the photo suggests this axle may have been on fire at least 40 minutes prior to the reported 9 pm derailment.

East Palestine officials will hold a town hall meeting tonight at the local high school to discuss the recent train derailment and the mushroom cloud of toxic chemicals that was released by non-resident experts.
They are expecting a huge turnout and changed the rules to run the meeting.
