  • Biden to ‘Lean Into’ Abortion Big Time in 2024 Race

    By Philip Wegmann for RealClearPolitics
Within the first five seconds of officially announcing his run for reelection, President Biden made clear that abortion would be a cornerstone of his campaign.
The second still image from his launch video showed a protestor standing outside the Supreme Court. An encapsulation of Democratic orthodoxy, her sign read, “abortion is healthcare.” The Biden campaign believes that by uniting around that message, and attacking the GOP as extremists on abortion, they can keep a Republican out of the White House in 2024 just like they held off a predicted “red wave” in 2022.
RELATED: GOP Donors, Including Thomas Pafferty, Reportedly Abandon DeSantis for Being Too Pro-Life
A campaign spokesman told RealClearPolitics that abortion access will be “a huge tenet” of the reelection strategy and that, on this question, Vice President Kamala Harris will serve as “the leading voice.”
And while Biden spoke first to a friendly union crowd earlier in the day, touting his efforts to revive domestic manufacturing and promising to “finish the job,” it was Harris who delivered the pro-abortion message at the campaign’s first official rally.
“I stand here, proud to run for reelection with President Joe Biden, as vice president of the United States of America, so we can finish the job,” she told a crowded auditorium at Howard University before blasting Republicans as “so-called leaders who want you to bow down to them, to elect them, to praise them, to say they are strong when they’re in the process of tearing down rights and freedoms.”
Reporters spotted Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the newly announced campaign manager, watching from the crowd. Her number two: Quentin Fulks, an alum of Sen. Raphael Warnock’s 2022 successful reelection and also the pro-abortion group Emily’s List.
Biden and his team are confident they have the right personnel and policy in place to win the abortion argument in a general election, regardless of who Republicans nominate, according to a senior Democratic aide familiar with the campaign’s plans but who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss details on the record.
RELATED: DOJ Continues Pursuit of Pro-Life Activists
“They all have this political anvil tied around their waist, and we can talk credibly about the issue and how extreme Republicans are no matter who their nominee is, even if that’s not Trump,” the aide told RCP in reference to the GOP field led by the former president.
Abortion access was always going to be a central pillar of the campaign, the aide added, but Biden and Harris are “leaning in because Republicans are giving us that opportunity,” before saying that for the GOP, “abortion in this primary for them will be what ‘Medicare for All’ was for us in 2019.”
“And when they stand on a debate stage in August, one of the first questions will be, ‘would you sign a national abortion ban – yes or no? Raise your hand,’” the aide predicted. The resulting image, they said, will be “seared into the minds of voters.”
Democrats have rallied around abortion rights since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last summer, and Biden had promised before the midterms that he would codify Roe into federal law if voters delivered him a super majority in the Senate, a hope that did not develop. Though buoyed politically by the controversy as more and more states pass legislation limiting abortion, the White House has not said if the president favors any national restrictions at all. That debate now consumes Republicans.
Trump earned a strong rebuke from the anti-abortion lobby earlier this month when he said that the “issue should be decided at the state level.”
Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America, promised her group would oppose any candidate “who refuses to embrace at a minimum a 15-week national standard to stop painful late-term abortions while allowing states to enact further protections.”
RELATED: Republican Senators Introduce Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act
Some Republicans, like Mike Pence, who is mulling his own White House bid, have already expressed a willingness to meet that standard. The former vice president told RCP in an interview last September that he supports a 15-week ban. Others, like former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, told RCP earlier this month that debating what week to ban abortion is “a no win.”
Haley was the first declared candidate to address the topic at length, laying out her vision for finding a “national consensus” on abortion at SBA Pro-Life America. At the group’s headquarters in Arlington, the former South Carolina governor, who signed a 20-week ban into state law, insisted that there was a “federal role” for regulating abortion but gave no specifics.
What was possible in red states, she added, would not be enacted at the federal level, noting that “no Republican president will have the ability to ban abortion nationwide. Just as no Democratic president can override the laws of all 50 states.”
In a statement afterwards, the influential pro-life group praised Haley for her commitment “to acting on the American consensus against late-term abortion by protecting unborn children by at least 15 weeks when they can feel excruciating pain.”
RELATED: Poll: 60% of Voters Avoid Talking About Controversial Issues Like Gender Identity
The Haley campaign disputed the characterization by SBA, telling RCP that her speech “was clear” and that she wants to find consensus to ban “late-term abortion” but did not put forward any specific restrictions.
A spokesperson for the organization that promised to oppose any candidate not backing a 15-week ban assured RCP that they listened to every word that Haley just delivered at their headquarters. “We stand by what she assured us,” the official told RCP, without offering additional specifics on the record.

  • Flashback: Tucker Carlson Hammered Jon Stewart So Hard it Ended His CNN Gig

The tragedy of Tucker Carlson’s firing from Fox News had me thinking… of when he was fired by CNN. The hilarious incident came during a contentious interview between comedian Jon Stewart and Carlson, who was co-hosting CNN’s “Crossfire” at the time.
The video is from October 2004, when Carlson joined Stewart alongside co-host Paul Begala on a program meant for rotating hosts representing different political ideologies to debate news topics.
The comic was there to promote a new book but instead launched into a tirade about how the show was “hurting America,” calling Begala and Carlson “partisan hacks.”
“You have John Kerry on your show and you sniff his throne and you’re accusing us of partisan hackery?” Carlson fired back.
If you’ve never seen this brawl, take a watch. If you have seen it, here’s a refresher:

RELATED: AOC Uses Chinese-Tied Tik-Tok to Celebrate Tucker Carlson’s Firing, Censorship: ‘De-platforming Works’
    Tucker Carlson Shreds Jon Stewart
The accusations of ‘partisan hackery’ toward Tucker Carlson are incredibly rich from Jon Stewart.
Carlson for years now has been the absolute gold standard in news/opinion commentary broadcast and is, to a man, far funnier than Stewart has ever been.
He at one point was garnering more Democrat viewers in a key advertising demographic than any other show on television – including left-leaning networks.
By contrast, the Stewart variety of “news” is single-handedly responsible for dumbing down the American voter, running a faux news show that audiences actually thought was real news and took seriously.
Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”used numerous cut-and-paste clips to create false narratives about the topics they were discussing and the subjects they were interviewing during Stewart’s 16-year tenure as host.
Poll after poll showed people were getting their ‘news’ from a show that, if they thought about it objectively, they knew was making up narratives.

Before Tucker Carlson’s Fox rise, an on-air “brawl” led to his CNN firing.
The 2004 exchange with Jon Stewart followed Carlson as he went from a struggling conservative talking head on CNN to the face of Fox News during the Trump years. https://t.co/oja4r4NRx5
    — The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) April 25, 2023

The media often portrays the exchange between Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson with the comedian as the victor.
In reality, that’s how you know he wasn’t.
Even so, Carlson certainly got his shots in.
Stewart suggested that CNN’s “Crossfire” had to be held to a higher standard than his show, which was preceded by “Crank Yankers,” a show he described as “puppets making crank phone calls.”
“When you have this marvelous opportunity not to be the guy’s (Kerry) butt boy … and you go ahead and be his butt boy,” an exasperated Carlson hit back. “It’s embarrassing.”

Jon Stewart still hasn’t recovered from Tucker calling him John Kerry’s butt boy.

RELATED: Trump Says He’s ‘Shocked’ Over Tucker Carlson Firing: ‘What is Going on at Fox News?’
Tucker Was Let Go by CNN
The exchange between Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson is often cited as a reason that the political pundit and CNN parted ways.
“The back-and-forth between Carlson and Stewart made headlines in what The Post and other outlets described as ‘a brawl,’” the Washington Post reports.
“Three months later, there was a larger fallout: CNN canceled ‘Crossfire’ and cut ties with Carlson in January 2005.”
Whether “CYA” or not, Jonathan Klein, CNN’s president at the time, said the network wasn’t renewing Tucker’s contract because the host was seeking his own night-time show.
Carlson later claimed he resigned from the show “many months before Jon Stewart” appeared because he “didn’t like the partisanship” and “thought in some ways it was kind of a pointless conversation.”
Carlson was suddenly and unceremoniously fired from Fox News on Monday.

  • Florida GOP Introduces Bill to Allow DeSantis to Run for President as Governor

A Republican state senator from Florida introduced an amendment on Tuesday that, should the state’s governor Ron DeSantis decide to run for president in 2024, may remove one technical barrier.
A revision was made to the “resign to run” law’s phrasing by Florida State Senator Travis Hutson so that it would not apply to “Persons seeking the office of President or Vice President of the United States.”
RELATED: WATCH: DeSantis Sets the Bar for GOP on Trans Ideology: ‘I Won’t Be Complicit in a Lie’
Currently, a public official in Florida is not permitted to run for an office whose term of office overlaps the person’s existing position without first submitting a letter of resignation.
That letter would need to be sent in DeSantis’ instance 10 days before Florida’s deadline for presidential qualifying at the beginning of December. Even if DeSantis lost the primary or general election, his resignation would be final and take effect on the day the next president is sworn in, in 2025.
According to Hutson’s amendment, “The amendments made to s. 99.012, Florida Statutes, by this act are intended to clarify existing law.”
When then-Republican Governor Charlie Crist was in the race to be John McCain’s running mate for the 2008 GOP nomination, the state overturned the “resign-to-run” rule in 2007. In 2018, Republican former governor Rick Scott, former governor signed legislation that reinstated this rule.
If the change is approved, it would go into effect on July 1. The amendment and the entire election law measure will be discussed and debated on Wednesday, with a vote perhaps taking place that day or on Thursday.
RELATED: Team DeSantis Releases First Ad Attacking Trump: He’s Stealing Pages from the Biden-Pelosi Playbook!
Republican Kathleen Passidomo, president of the Florida state Senate, said in late March that she was still assessing whether modifications to the resign-to-run statute were necessary.
DeSantis has said that he won’t make up his mind about running for president in 2024 until after the legislative session concludes in early May. He is now on an international business trade trip in Asia. DeSantis has been to all four early presidential primary states this year: Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. He is on a promotional trip for his new book and what he calls the “Florida Blueprint.”
“In November, I was re-elected. DeSantis told the Nikkei Asia news organization in Tokyo on Tuesday, “We got a great landslide victory. No announcements until after the legislative session has ended. So simply pay attention.”

Gaslighting 101: Biden Admin Blames GOP for ‘Defunding Border Patrol,’ Putting Fentanyl on the Streets

Presidents past have always had press secretaries who bend facts a bit to push their boss’s agenda. They typically had a finesse about them when they spun information to put their administration in a positive light.
President Biden’s press secretary, Karine Jean-Pierre, however, lies with impunity and does so in such a blatant fashion that reporters sitting there before her could easily fact-check her in real-time. If they so desired.
She doesn’t bend the facts, she shatters them in a cascading onslaught of lies.
One such instance took place on Tuesday when Jean-Pierre accused Republicans of defunding border security and trying to put fentanyl on American streets.
The claim came as part of a retort to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s debt ceiling proposal, which he presented last week.
“It’s clear that the speaker’s bill breaks House Republicans’ commitment to America,” Jean-Pierre claimed.
“In the run-up to the 2022 election, House Republicans promised to put cops on the beat. Instead, they are fighting to put fentanyl on the street by defunding border patrol.”

Jean-Pierre: “[Republicans] are fighting to put fentanyl on the street by defunding border patrol… The only things House Republicans are committed to giving Americans are increased crime, lower economic growth, and more manufacturing jobs sent back to China.” pic.twitter.com/cyWZG79Inq

Look, I’m not sure what Karine Jean-Pierre is smoking when she blames Republicans for the fentanyl crisis in America, but I’m pretty sure whatever it is came across the border under President Biden’s watch.
Critics mauled her for the comments.
The Heritage Foundation think tank stated the press secretary and the White House “must be counting on the media to shill for their blatant lies.”

They must be counting on the media to shill for their blatant lies. Important to note that these lies are admissions they recognize these serious problems, but instead of solving them, they’ll blame shift to avoid responsibility while working to worsen them.

    — Heritage Foundation (@Heritage) April 25, 2023

“I can’t imagine going to work every day having to degrade myself by saying these things with a straight face,” tweeted political commentator Greg Price.
That part must actually be easy for her. See those people sitting in the seats, fervently taking notes while Jean-Pierre speaks? Those are Democrat stenographers masquerading as journalists.
Saying those things with a straight face is less of a challenge when you know the entire legacy media is cheering you on.

I can’t imagine going to work every day having to degrade myself by saying these things with a straight face.
    — Greg Price (@greg_price11) April 25, 2023

There’s what Jean-Pierre is peddling and then there is reality. Always.
The Border Reinforcement Act of 2023, introduced by House Republicans last week, calls for an “immediate resumption of border wall construction,” hiring over 22,000 full-time border patrol agents, and a means to support local law enforcement.
Representative Mark Green (R-TN) touted the legislation in an op-ed column for the New York Post, specifically citing Biden’s open border policies for an influx of fentanyl into the United States.
“Federal officials say CBP seizes just 5% to 10% of illegal drugs smuggled across the southwest border,” he wrote. “These anti-security policies are wreaking havoc on our nation.”
That’s the reality. Democrats are pro-open borders, making them pro-crime and pro-fentanyl. They have been for decades now. Not the other way around.

I just can’t understand why nobody trusts our public institutions.

RELATED: Jedi Mind Trick: Biden Claims It’s Actually Republicans Trying to Cut Border Security, Helping Fentanyl Get In
This is Their New Big Lie
Of note here is the fact that Karine Jean-Pierre’s comments on fentanyl are not a one-off. This is the new messaging coming out of the White House – blatantly lie to the American people in the hopes that enough people will believe the lies.
Less than a month ago, President Biden himself made a similar proclamation that it’s actually Republicans who are weak on the border.
“MAGA House Republican proposals would slash funding for border security – a move that could allow nearly 900 pounds of fentanyl into our country,” Biden tweeted.
“We need more resources to secure the border,” he added. “Not less.”

    — President Biden (@POTUS) March 26, 2023

That’s pretty rich coming from the guy who halted construction of a wall at the southern border immediately upon taking office and said the border crisis was far less “important” than other matters.
It also comes from the guy who tried to stop Arizona from building a makeshift border wall out of shipping containers.
It’s almost as if they’re under the impression the media is exclusively on their side and they’re free to say whatever they want.
Perhaps earlier on in Karine Jean-Pierre’s press conference, there was a bit of a clue as to why she is so ridiculously bad at her job.
Before making false claims about fentanyl and fielding questions, Jean-Pierre took a moment to celebrate ‘Lesbian Visibility Week’ which, as far as I can tell, she completely made up.

Jean-Pierre: “This week is lesbian visibility week, and as the first openly queer person to hold the position of press secretary for the president of the United States, I see every day how important visibility and representation are.” pic.twitter.com/blJ2VqAgLD
    — Washington Free Beacon (@FreeBeacon) April 25, 2023

“This week is Lesbian Visibility Week,” she said with a straight face (pun intended).
“And as the first openly queer person to hold the position of Press Secretary for the President of the United States, I see every day how important visibility and representation are.”
See that? Visibility and representation are more important than facts. Or being good at your job.
Karine Jean-Pierre became the face of the White House because she’s black, female, and ‘queer.’
She’s proven that she certainly is not standing up there because she knows what she’s talking about.

  • GOP Senator Grassley Accuses FBI of Covering Up Biden Family ‘Potential Criminal Conduct’

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) allegedly has evidence of possible criminal activity by members of the Biden family, according to Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa.
In his remarks on Tuesday’s Senate floor, Senator Grassley said that the FBI had concealed this material by erroneously classifying it as Russian misinformation.
Senator Grassley said, “I know the FBI improperly categorized that material as Russian misinformation to bury it. The FBI and the Biden Justice Department haven’t disputed the veracity of these claims as of yet. They cannot since the claims are supported by documents that my team has independently verified.”

    Grassley Goes On Offense
Senator Grassley alleged selective prosecution in his criticism of the Biden Justice Department’s treatment of pro-life activists. He mentioned the incident of Mark Houck, who was reportedly detained under duress by the FBI after an altercation at an abortion clinic, despite the fact that the local police had decided not to file charges.
Senator Grassley said, “Let’s genuinely commemorate the heroes in law enforcement and the everyday sacrifices they make for the American people by delivering more than a tone-deaf political resolution that further divides the nation.”
Democrat colleagues, according to Senator Grassley, have used the FBI as a political weapon against him and his probe into the Biden family. He referred to a letter addressed to the FBI in July 2020 by Minority Leader Schumer, Senator Warner, Speaker Pelosi, and Chairman Schiff, which was intended to malignly link the Grassley-Johnson Biden family probe to Russian misinformation.
The American people formerly had faith in federal law enforcement, but as Senator Grassley said, “the facts show that it’s been our Democratic colleagues who have consistently used federal law enforcement to further their political ends.”

  • Sorry Friends, a Trump-DeSantis Ticket is an Awful Idea

    By Dr. Derek Ellerman
Before anyone freaks out, know that this is just one man’s opinion (and the man behind it is no one’s idea of a genius.)
Since the day after Election Day 2020, I’ve heard some of my fellow righties promote the idea of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis being Donald Trump’s VP running mate in 2024.
It’s only been just that so far – rumblings from regular old civilians who just want to win in the next presidential race.
But then I saw the idea break out into the open: Page Six reports that one of those Chatty Cathy “anonymous sources” close to Trump sees it as more than rumblings.
According to them, Trump’s team is looking to convince The Don to pick DeSantis as his VP running mate.
They say Trump is “listening” to the idea. But this is a silly, nonsense idea (and I mean that with absolutely no offense to my friends who support it.)

IS TRUMP CONSIDERING DESANTIS AS HIS VP?
Of course, you may recall this was my original PLAN A, but it appeared Trump’s hubris would not allow it. Hard to imagine after the terrible things Trump has said about DeSantis, but it wouldn’t be the first time former enemies have…
    — Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 26, 2023

RELATED: Florida GOP Introduces Bill to Allow DeSantis to Run for President as Governor
Just Say No to Trump-DeSantis 2024
Let’s get the most obvious out of the way: Both of these men hail from the same state!
It doesn’t get much more obvious than this. Both candidates drawing from the same home support base is a total waste of effort – and likely to be the epicenter of the most contentions rancor between Trump and DeSantis die-hards.
Now, I’ve heard one objection to this: Trump is actually from New York. OK, fair enough, but Trump ain’t winning New York. So why have both eggs in the same basket?
The second reason why this is a bad idea: the two do not compliment each other at all.
Yes, there are going to be major differences on a few issues.
I can tell you right now that DeSantis is not anywhere near as America First on foreign policy as Trump is. Trump stands completely alone on the national stage in that regard. And we all saw what happened when his cabinet included neoconservatives who opposed that agenda.
DeSantis is going to have to answer for his support of the Trans-Pacific Partnership. Trump has been adamant about protecting Social Security and Medicare.
But to the average voter, they won’t see a dime’s worth of difference. DeSantis has even taken to emulating Trump’s mannerisms.
And elections come down to the average voter, not those of us who are plugged in constantly.

RELATED: Trump Blasts RNC, Won’t Participate in Debate Hosted by Washington Post CEO
I Hate To Even Say It
There are two more reasons why this partnership doesn’t make a heck of a lot of sense.
I’m trying to type this with one hand because the other is knocking on wood – what if Trump-DeSantis were to lose in 2024? Such a thing has the potential to ruin DeSantis’ chances in 2028. Fairness here doesn’t matter. Anything could happen.
Why give the media and Democrats the chance to paint DeSantis with a scarlet letter, when he should have an open runway in 2028?
The last point I’ll make here is that Trump needs help with women. Specifically, white suburban women.
Now I’m sure the ladies love DeSantis just fine, but I think at this point, suburban women will only pull the lever for Trump if he has a running mate that can really soften his image in this regard.
At this precise moment, only South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem seems to fit the bill as a semi-national figure on the right.
I hate to break it to you, dear reader, but a very sizable number of voters will see “woman.” And that’s it. And their vote counts just as much as yours. That’s how democracy works, unfortunately.
But picking Noem would return us to a previous issue: South Dakota is a reliable red state. Can Noem push Trump over the line in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Georgia?
Are there any candidates in those states who could fill the VP role?
Look, it’s very early to be talking about running mates. At the same time, let’s nip bad ideas in the bud.

  • Chief Justice John Roberts Tells Democrats to Get Lost After They Request He Testify on Supreme Court Ethics

Chief Justice John Roberts rejected an invitation from Senator Dick Durbin to testify before Congress on ethics rules for the Supreme Court.
Roberts sent a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman implying that such testimony would threaten the basic government concept of separation of powers.
“I must respectfully decline your invitation,” he wrote.
“Testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee by the Chief Justice of the United States is exceedingly rare, as one might expect in light of separation of powers concerns and the importance of preserving judicial independence,” Roberts explained.
Accompanying his letter declining Durbin’s invite was a copy of the court’s Statement of Ethics Principles and Practices.
Roberts stated “all of the current Members of the Supreme Court subscribe” to that ethics statement.

Another one of those ‘high-tech lynchings’ the left likes to engage in every now and again regarding the longest-tenured black justice serving on the court.
A report this month by the left-leaning outlet Pro Publica alleged billionaire Harlan Crow, a GOP donor,  provided trips and gifts to Thomas that were not disclosed.
Following that report, other liberal media outlets have tried to make specious links between Thomas and other gifts from friends that they suddenly find scandalous.

“neither Crow nor his company were involved in the matter or discussed it with Thomas.”
This is about a case SCOTUS declined to hear, involving a company that isn’t owned by Crow, but tangentially related to another company he had a minority stake in.

Thomas, following allegations of impropriety, explained slowly and carefully to those wondering, that the gifts in question were from close personal friends and, as they “did not have business before the Court” it “was not reportable.”
He said he would amend his financial disclosure forms to comply with changes made to disclosure rules that were announced last month.

It’s good to see Roberts stand up to Durbin, a rare morphing from a spineless jellyfish patsy for the Democrats to somebody finally showing a modicum of intestinal fortitude.
Think about it – Roberts has spent the vast majority of his time as Chief Justice abandoning his principles and voting intentionally with the liberal wing of the Court as a means to convey an image of fairness.
His lone goal is to create a legacy of a court not swayed by politics, but rather, guided by the law. And he’s been more than eager to side with the left to create that faux ethical image.
And Durbin has the gall to question the ethics of his court?

In June of 2020, Roberts cast the deciding vote, joining the court’s liberal justices in a 5-4 decision that ruled against the Trump administration’s bid to end the DACA program, despite it having been implemented illegally.
That same year he sided with the liberal court justices, ruling in favor of coronavirus restrictions on religious services in the state of California.
He ruled alongside liberals yet again in a ruling that struck down a Louisiana abortion safety law.
There are so many other cases in which Roberts abandoned the rule of law to cast his lot with the left just to seem impartial.
How bad must Durbin’s circus request be that even he would stand up and say, ‘No, this is a bit too much.’
Roberts though, does have a bit of a history of being irked by Democrats for daring to question the legitimacy of his Supreme Court.
He became visibly agitated after having to read a question from Senator Elizabeth Warren which suggested the legitimacy of the Court, the Constitution, and his own career would be tainted following the impeachment trial of then-President Donald Trump.

Fox News reported at the time that upon finishing the question, Roberts became “visibly irritated” and “pursed his lips and shot a chagrined look.”
We imagine he had the same look while writing the letter to Durbin.

  • Trump Fires First Shot at Biden in 2024 Presidential Faceoff

By Casey Harper (The Center Square)
President Joe Biden announced he is running for reelection early Tuesday, and former President Donald Trump responded with the first shot in what could be a presidential campaign rematch.
“You could take the five worst presidents in American history, and put them together, and they would not have done the damage Joe Biden has done to our nation in just a few short years,” Trump said in his video response on TruthSocial.
    “Not even close,” he added.

Biden is 80 years old, and Trump is 76. Trump led his response video by attacking Biden on the economy, pointing to inflation and wages.
“Thanks to Joe Biden’s socialist spending calamity, American families are being decimated by the worst inflation in half a century,” Trump said. “Banks are failing. Our currency is crashing and the dollar will soon no longer be the world standard, which will be our greatest defeat in over 200 years. Real wages have been falling 24 months in a row – in other words, under Biden, workers have gotten a pay cut each and every month for two straight years. We have surrendered our energy independence, just like we surrendered in Afghanistan, which we had just a short time ago – and the price of gasoline just hit a five-month high, and it’s going much higher than that.”
No major Democratic candidates have challenged Biden so far, and his announcement Tuesday will likely clear the field.
“Every generation has a moment where they have had to stand up for democracy. To stand up for their fundamental freedoms,” Biden said in his announcement. “I believe this is ours. That’s why I’m running for reelection as President of the United States. Join us. Let’s finish the job.”
On the Republican side, radio host and commentator Larry Elder, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy top the list as other announced candidates.
Sen. Tim Scott, R-SC, publicly launched an exploratory committee earlier this month. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is also considered a major contender but has not yet announced.

So far, though, Trump is leading the charge in attacking Biden, painting the president’s tenure as a disaster and giving a window into the focus of the campaign going forward.

“Biden has totally humiliated our nation on the world stage – starting with the Afghanistan disaster, perhaps the most embarrassing event in the history of our country,” Trump said. “It meant so much to our enemies when they watched that horrible retreat. Russia is teaming up with China. Iran is days away from a nuclear bomb – not even thinkable. Ukraine has been devastated by an invasion that would never, ever have happened if I was president. And Joe Biden has led us to the very brink of World War III. They say Trump was right about everything. Well, I’m not predicting World War III, but I will say this: We’re very close and they’re only talking about nuclear weapons.”

  • Syracuse University Students Object to Talk From Woman Who Escaped Communist Nightmare of North Korea, Call Her a Liar

Syracuse University Students Object to Talk From Woman Who Escaped Communist Nightmare of North Korea, Call Her a Liar

Just last week, students at Whitworth University in Washington state objected to a talk from a woman who survived Mao’s communist revolution in China.
Now, students at Syracuse University in New York have objected to a talk from Yeonmi Park, who escaped from the communist nightmare of life in North Korea. They even called her a liar.
American college students are objecting to hearing from people who escaped real communism.
Part of the reason for this has to be that so many American college students have been brainwashed into believing that socialism/communism are some sort of left wing utopia.
    Campus Reform reported:
Leftist students call North Korean defector Yeonmi Park a ‘liar,’ destroy fliers for her event at Syracuse
Leftist students at Syracuse University recently voiced opposition to an event featuring Yeonmi Park, a North Korean defector.
Ahead of the event hosted by the Syracuse College Republicans in partnership with Young America’s Foundation, students destroyed fliers and posted messages critical of Park and the College Republicans in an online forum.
Park, who delivered her speech on Apr. 5, “has criticized concepts like political correctness, trigger warnings and ‘woke culture’ in her career,” according to the student newspaper, The Daily Orange.
Photos obtained by Campus Reform show fliers for the event torn, thrown to the ground, or covered by other fliers.
In an online forum for Syracuse students, someone posted a photo of a torn flier. Underneath the photo, another user wrote, “The b**ch is a liar and a fraud.”
One post tells the forum to “[r]espect other people’s viewpoints.”
“I don’t respect people [who] are actively trying to take away my (and others [sic]) rights,” another user replies. “I don’t have to respect anyone.”
Yeonmi Park has seen life under Marxist rule, so the left goes crazy when she says things like this:

    Normal day in Chicago!
This is what happens when Marxists run the city… https://t.co/A6ed0rK9DX
    — Yeonmi Park (@YeonmiParkNK) April 17, 2023

As a result, some people on the left will actually deny reality and history by claiming that she is a liar.
Our system of higher education has become leftist indoctrination and deserves most of the blame.

  • REPORT: DeSantis Jumping in 2024 Presidential Race Mid-May

REPORT: DeSantis Jumping in 2024 Presidential Race Mid-May

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will reportedly jump into the 2024 presidential race mid-May.
According to NBC News, DeSantis will launch his presidential exploratory committee in a couple weeks.
    NBC News reported:
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is poised to jump into the presidential fray as soon as mid-May, four GOP operatives familiar with the conversations told NBC News.
One of the sources emphasized that it would be an exploratory committee, with the official launch coming soon after.
Some of his backers are urging him to declare as early as May 11, in an effort to counter the creeping national narrative that former President Donald Trump is the overwhelming front-runner for the 2024 GOP nomination. Others in the governor’s orbit, however, have argued that that date would be too soon, according to two of those sources. All emphasized, however, that mid-May is the target.
DeSantis, long viewed as Trump’s strongest Republican challenger in 2024, has traveled far outside Florida in recent weeks to raise his profile. But some of DeSantis’ allies have started to question his readiness as his poll numbers have lagged and he has fell victim of a series of self-inflicted wounds.
A new Premise poll of 1,509 registered voters conducted March 16–21 shows President Trump leading Ron DeSantis in a landslide 31 points in the primary.
DeSantis only leads Joe Biden by one point in the same poll for the General Election, and Trump gained one point over Biden from a recent poll conducted February 15-16.
