Industry-leading commentary on global financial markets, the Kobeissi Letter, has published its data on tech layoffs for 2023.
According to their analysis, this year’s layoffs have already topped 190,000. This is a significant increase from 2022’s total of 165,000.
“January marked the most tech layoffs in a month since 2001, impacting 89,500 employees. Total tech layoffs since 2022 are now at 355,000 employees from 1,700 companies,” Kobeissi Letter wrote on its Twitter.

“The number of layoffs accelerated beginning in Nov. 2022. Over the last 7 months alone, total tech layoffs are now at 255,000 employees. Most companies have cited cost cutting and economic uncertainty as reasons behind the layoffs,” it added.

Companies that deal directly with consumers and retailers continue to feel the greatest impact from layoffs, according to Kobeissi Letter’s data.
Surprisingly, the transportation industry has also been hit hard.
As interest rates climb and inflation remains high, consumers are cutting back on their spending.
According to their analysis, this pattern is predicted to continue in 2023.

Elon Musk, founder of Tesla Inc. and current owner of Twitter, gave his followers a glimpse into his past on Saturday by telling a story from his youth in an effort to refute claims made by the liberal media that he comes from a privileged background and to discredit his success.
Musk tweeted his response to a post that falsely claimed he was from “a wealthy family but had financial difficulties”.
Musk claimed he did not have a good childhood due to a lack of financial support.
The Street has more details about Musk’s background:
Born in South Africa, his story is basically that of a self-made billionaire, who left his birthplace at the age of 17 to follow his mother to Canada. He immigrated to the United States to pursue his college studies in prestigious universities. The entrepreneurial spirit that he had from a very young age was nourished by his curiosity and his experiences, which led him to co-found successful companies. The problem is that this version is regularly contested by press articles or posts on social networks, indicating that he comes from a privileged background, which was an important springboard to become who he is today.
One assertion has been circulating: His family owned an emerald mine in Africa. Musk has said more than once that this is false, but it keeps coming back and clearly annoys him. Last month, he offered a $1 million in cryptocurrency Dogecoin to anyone who can prove it.
The problem is that the belief about Musk growing in affluence was spread by his estranged father, Errol, during two interviews with Business Insider South Africa in February 2018.
In these interviews, Errol Musk asserts, without evidence, that he once held a half share in an emerald mine in Zambia. He tells an unverified anecdote that, at age 16, Elon Musk and his brother Kimbal sold two emeralds from the mine to Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue in New York for $2,000.
But in 2020, Errol seems to have regretted his 2018 remarks and said in a Facebook post that Elon did not owe him his success. Rather, he said, Elon did it all on his own.
“My very limited involvement in a business transaction in Zambia in the 1980’s had nothing to do with South Africa and that business can hardly be deemed to be have been inappropriate. Neither was it beneficial to Elon’s success in the USA, starting in about 1999,” he wrote.
But the rumor persists and returns regularly.
On Saturday, Musk, one of the world’s richest men and the most successful African American in history finally broke his silence that he came from a wealthy family.

My father created a small electrical/mechanical engineering company that was successful for 20 to 30 years, but it fell on hard times. He has been essentially bankrupt for about 25 years, requiring financial support from my brother and me.
That said, he does deserve credit for teaching me the fundamentals of physics, engineering and construction, which is more valuable than money, but did not support me financially after high school in any meaningful way.
Our condition of providing him financial support was that he not engage in bad behavior. Unfortunately, he nonetheless did. There are young children involved, so we continued to provide financial support for their well-being.
Regarding the so-called “emerald mine”, there is no objective evidence whatsoever that this mine ever existed. He told me that he owned a share in a mine in Zambia, and I believed him for a while, but nobody has ever seen the mine, nor are there any records of its existence.
If this mine was real, he would not require financial support from my brother and me.

Jordan Neely, a homeless man with a troubled past, died recently on the New York City subway system while being restrained by other passengers.
The media and far-left Democrats have been working overtime to portray Neely as an innocent victim of murder.
However, Neely had been arrested numerous times with a reputation for causing disturbances; he once pleaded guilty to attempted kidnapping when he was caught dragging a 7-year-old girl down an Inwood street.
The New York Daily News reports “Neely was arrested 42 times across the last decade, with his most recent bust in November 2021 for slugging a 67-year-old female stranger in the face as she exited a subway station in the East Village, cops said. The senior citizen suffered a broken nose and fractured orbital bone when she was knocked to the sidewalk, along with swelling and ‘substantial’ head pain after hitting the ground.”
The New York Daily news continues, “On June 27, 2019, Neely was arrested for punching a 64-year-old man in the face during a fight in a Greenwich Village subway station, cops said. And he was busted in August 2015 for attempted kidnapping after he was seen dragging a 7-year-old girl down an Inwood street. He pled guilty to endangering the welfare of a child and was sentenced to four months in jail.”
But Newsweek’s report on Neely’s 42 prior arrests didn’t stop USA Today from trying to gaslight readers. Neely was, they say, “A  beloved subway performer, grew up in a family of musicians who want him to be remembered as a ‘human being.’”

Neely grew up in a family of musicians who want him to be remembered as a “human being,” Edwards told USA TODAY. His mother was a professional singer and his father performed with a music group. Neely also had a flair for song and dance, which he would pursue into adulthood.
“He was someone who loved and enjoyed people and life,” Edwards said.
Later in his life Neely was known locally as a Michael Jackson impersonator who danced in the Times Square transit hub and was a beloved part of many New Yorkers’ daily commute. By then, he suffered from depression, according to Edwards.

TGP shared that Texas State Police officially identified the man responsible for slaughtering eight innocent people according Fox News. The outlet obtained police records showing the suspect is 33-year-old Mauricio Martinez Garcia of Dallas, Texas.
And yet The Washington Post desperately wants to tie the hispanic shooter to “white supremacy.”
The suspect has tattoo on one hand that some suspect is gang related.

Gunman in Texas Mall Shooting May Have Had Neo-Nazi Beliefs

ALLEN, Tex. — The gunman who opened fire on an outlet mall in a Dallas suburb Saturday, killing at least eight people, was a man in his early 30s who may have had white supremacist or neo-Nazi beliefs, people familiar with the investigation said Sunday.

Mauricio Garcia, a local resident, had multiple weapons on him and in his nearby car, said people familiar with the investigation who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing probe.

Authorities have not released a motive, but a patch on his chest said “RWDS,” an acronym that stands for Right Wing Death Squad, according to people familiar with the investigation. The phrase is popular among right wing extremists, neo-Nazis and white supremacists, they said. In addition to the weapons found on his body, investigators found another five guns inside his car nearby, these people said.

In a statement released on Sunday, Tara Reade, the former staffer who accused Joe Biden of sexual assault, placed blame on Biden if something happened to her.
Recall, Tara Reade accused her former boss then-Senator Joe Biden of sexually assaulting her in 1993.

Reade said in 1993, then-Senator Joe Biden pushed her up against the wall and penetrated her with his fingers.
In an interview with Megyn Kelly, Tara Reade began by explaining how she was given a duffel bag and told to “hurry” up and give it to then-Senator Biden.
She caught up with Biden in a corridor in the Russel building to give him his gym bag and that’s when he sexually assaulted her.

Reade told Megyn Kelly that Biden whispered something vulgar in her ear as he assaulted her.
The media totally ignored Tara Reade even though she had contemporaneous witnesses to back up her claims that Biden sexually assaulted her.
According to a new report by the Daily Caller, the DOJ and FBI probed Tara Reade’s Twitter account after she went public with the sexual assault allegations against Biden.
On Sunday, Tara Reade said that Biden would be behind her death if something happened to her, adding that she’s not suicidal.
“I want to make something clear. If something happens to me, all roads lead to Joe Biden,” she wrote.
“Joe Biden and DNC political machine threats, bullying and intimidation over the last three years will not work. I am not suicidal. I should not be under investigation nor am I a foreign agent. I am a private citizen,” she added.

A professor at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California has been indicted after allegedly engaging in online talks with an undercover FBI agent about selling photographs of child being sexually abused, KTVU reported.
West Sacramento resident Rodger Githens was accused of wanting to meet a 7-year-old girl for “sexual purposes” after talking to an undercover FBI agent masquerading as an uncle offering his niece, prosecutors with the Eastern District of California claim.
Authorities claim that Githens and the agent spoke via the gay messaging apps Grindr and Telegram.
In a news release issued on Thursday, the U.S. District Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of California provided the details of the case.
According to court documents, in late March 2023, Githens, using the profile “Tall laid back,” initiated contact with an account on the Grindr app controlled by an undercover FBI agent. Githens encouraged the undercover FBI agent to establish an account with the Telegram app, since it was considered more secure.
Githens several times discussed traveling to Fresno to meet the agent and a supposed 7-year-old niece for sexual purposes, but law enforcement served a search warrant at Githens’s residence on April 19, 2023, and seized multiple electronic devices. Agents discovered numerous Telegram chats on Githens’s phone, including several in which he was exchanging and commenting on videos of young children being sexually abused.

A federal grand jury returned the indictment against Githens, and he was charged with receipt and distribution of images of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct, the office said.
While allegedly planning to meet in Fresno, Githens reportedly said he would bring the girl candy and an Ariel doll, per Breitbart News.
During the online conversations, Githens allegedly revealed he is married to a man whose young nephew he molested once in the past, the outlet continued.
The University of the Pacific professor has since been placed on indefinite administrative leave, according to reports.
The school’s website says it was founded in 1851. “Established by pioneering Methodist ministers, it remains the only Methodist-affiliated university in California,” the site notes.
“If convicted, Githens faces five to 20 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, a lifetime of supervised release, and forfeiture of any property used to facilitate commission of the offense,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

On Thursday, a senior software engineer at Google jumped to his death from the company’s New York City headquarters, New York Post reported.
The 31-year-old man, whose identity is being withheld due to pending family notification, jumped from the 14th floor of 111 Eighth Ave. at around 11:30 p.m., according to authorities.
The man was spotted by police after they responded to many 911 reports about an unconscious person near the 111 Eighth Ave building. He was then transported to Bellevue Hospital.
He was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The victim’s handprints were discovered at the edge of a 14th-floor open-air terrace, but investigators found no sign of a video recording or a suicide note.
This is the second incident in which a Google employee took his life this year.
New York Post reported, “The employee’s death comes months after Jacob Pratt, a 33-year-old Google employee who also worked at the Manhattan headquarters, was found dead of an apparent suicide.
“Pratt appeared to have hanged himself in an apartment at the corner of West 26th Street and 6th Avenue in Chelsea just before 6 p.m. Feb. 16.”

On Sunday morning, a Range Rover SUV “intentionally” plowed into pedestrians in Brownsville, Texas, killing seven people.
The incident occurred about 8:30 in the morning in front of the Ozanam Center, a shelter for illegal aliens and the homeless, at the intersection of Minnesota Road and North Bernal Road.
The vehicle reportedly drove up on the curb in front of a bus stop where a group of individuals believed to be migrants were waiting.
“What we see in the video is that this SUV just ran the red light and was about 100 feet away and just went through the people who were sitting in the bus stop,” shelter director Victor Maldonado told the Associated Press.

According to Lt. Martin Sandoval, seven people were killed on the scene, and multiple people are being treated for serious and minor injuries at the hospital.
Fox News reported that the driver of the vehicle was a Hispanic male and has been taken into custody.
According to the authorities, the driver is currently being treated at a hospital and is under 24-hour guard monitoring. Police have claimed that they are currently conducting tests to determine if there has been any drug or alcohol use.
Sandoval stated that the driver had been arrested for reckless driving. Additional charges, according to Sandoval, are imminent. He added that it’s starting to appear more and more like it was intentional.

I am someone not much older than all of you. Yet I’ve been asked to speak. Not because I am a great orator or because I have a number of impressive accolades. Well, I guess I do have two Super Bowl rings. I just happen to be blessed by God to be really good at kicking a funny shaped ball between two yellow posts.
So as someone who is not paid to speak for a living, I’m about to pop off some hard truths. I don’t care if you have a successful career. I don’t care if you have a big bank account or you fly private. Many of you in this crowd will achieve these things. Some of you maybe already have.
But in the end, no matter how much money you attain, none of it will matter if you are alone and devoid of purpose. As someone raised in a family of overachievers, success was expected. And as a young man, I found happiness in being celebrated for my worldly achievements. My inner desire to be celebrated manifested academically through long hours of studying and of course, riding the curve. That desire was pushed further by the many successes I attained playing here on the flats.
All of you are here today because you are smart, capable and hardworking people. But if we’re being honest, the world is filled with miserable, smart, capable and hardworking people. There are too many examples to list of people who have achieved great worldly success and fleeting happiness, but in the end are unfulfilled. Now, don’t get me wrong, I want you to be successful. But this isn’t so much about your career as it is using your talents, being your best, fulfilling the potential you were created for.
It is said what’s done in the darkness will be brought to the light. This is a powerful reminder to us all that our actions matter whether they’re seen or not. Some of the most important people who have ever lived remain unknown and their stories have yet to be told. But they still used their godgiven talents to do great things and change the world. What a profound example to be motivated by our purpose rather than the current spotlight of the world.
For many of you, your academic careers are coming to an end. For some, this is just one of many milestones. Either way, it is important to use today as an opportunity to take stock of your mission. Our culture is suffering. We all see it.
It doesn’t matter which political persuasion you sit on or whether you are a person of deep faith or not. Anyone with eyes can see that something is off. Studies have shown one of the many negative effects of the pandemic is that a lot of young adults feel a sense of loneliness, anxiety and depression, despite technology that has connected us more than ever before. It would seem the more connected people are to one another, the more they feel alone. I’m not sure the root of this, but at least I can offer one controversial antidote that I believe will have a lasting impact for generations to come, get married and start a family.
I will say this is the most important ring I have right here. Having kicked the game winning field goal in both the AFC Championship and the Super Bowl, I have received a great deal of praise for these successes. They just announced that this Super Bowl was the most watched football game of all time. And yet, all of this happiness is temporary. And the truth is, none of these accomplishments mean anything compared to the happiness I have found in my marriage and in starting a family.
My confidence as a husband and father and yes, even as a football player, is rooted in my marriage with my wife. As we leave our mark on future generations by the children we bring into the world, how much greater of a legacy can anyone leave than that? Sadly, we are encouraged to live our lives for ourselves, to move from one thing to another with no long term commitment, to have loyalty for nothing but ourselves and sacrifice only when it suits our own interests. This loneliness is rooted in the lies being sold about selfdependence and prioritizing our career over important relationships.
