Furniture retailer ‘Coco Republic’ is closing its flagship San Francisco store just seven months after opening, citing a lack of foot traffic and unsafe conditions due to crime.
Just days ago, T-Mobile announced that it was closing its San Francisco store for the very same reasons.
This is part of a larger pattern. Stores in San Francisco are closing almost every week.

In October 2022, after completing a multimillion-dollar renovation, Australian furniture and lifestyle retailer Coco Republic opened its flagship San Francisco location at 55 Stockton St. in Union Square.
Seven months later, a Coco Republic spokesperson told SFGATE that its flagship San Francisco location is set to close in the next few months, citing a familiar reason: lack of customer foot traffic, which the company pinned in part on unsafe conditions — or at least people’s perception of unsafe conditions — in the surrounding area.
“[It] has become clear that downtown San Francisco is no longer a viable option for Coco Republic’s flagship store,” the spokesperson wrote in an email, adding, “It was a difficult decision and one that was not taken lightly. The recent closings of Whole Foods, Nordstrom, Saks Off 5th and Anthropologie show that ours is not an isolated problem in Union Square, and we hope the city will be able to address the issues that are making it so challenging to do business there.”
Every store that closes is lost revenue for the city, lost jobs, lost opportunity, and lost choices for people who live there. All of this is being driven by crime, which the city seems unable or unwilling to deal with.

Republican Ohio Senator J.D. Vance spoke about the negative effect that unfettered illegal immigration is having on the American housing market, during a recent hearing.
Vance explained that although we have millions of new arrivals in the United States looking for housing, the amount of housing has not increased nearly enough, making the market unstable and much more competitive.
As Vance put it, the math just doesn’t add up.
From his Senate page:
“I want to focus on one of the under-discussed components of the housing crisis in our country today, and that is its connection to mass illegal immigration. And just to sort of put a fine point and explain where I’m coming from on that, and why I’m raising this issue is I think that a lot of our friends on the other side of the aisle have convinced themselves that lax immigration is somehow a compassionate thing to do.” said Senator Vance.
“We cannot, as a country, absorb 10 million people and still provide high quality housing to the rest of our citizens. The math doesn’t work. The numbers don’t make sense. The increase in housing prices and rents is clear for all to see.”

Vance is absolutely right about this. Anyone who has looked for a new house or apartment in recent months knows it’s true.
The bad news is that this problem is only going to get worse.

The Georgia Court of Appeals issued an order remanding the Fulton County counterfeit ballot case back to the Superior Court. The ruling gives citizens, taxpayers, and residents standing to sue the government officials or agencies who violate Georgia law.
The far left Atlanta Journal Constitution reported on this development today.
The Georgia Court of Appeals on Thursday revived a lawsuit by election skeptics who want to search for fraudulent ballots from the 2020 presidential race two and a half years after it was decided.
The appellate court sent the case back to a judge to decide whether to allow an outside review of Fulton County’s 147,000 original absentee ballots…
…The lead plaintiff in the case, Garland Favorito of the group VoterGA, said he hopes to finally be able to find suspicious-looking ballots — with perfectly filled-in ovals and a lack of fold marks — that Republican vote-counters said they saw during a statewide audit.

The Georgia Court of Appeals has issued an order remanding the Fulton County counterfeit ballot case back to the Superior Court for all Fulton County petitioners. The order comes over four months after the Georgia Supreme Court upheld standing in its December 20, 2022 ruling for the Favorito et al v. Wan et al and Jeffords et al v. Fulton County cases. That decision was based on the court’s previous ruling that unanimously found Georgia citizens, taxpayers and residents, including voters, always had standing to sue government officials or agencies who violate Georgia law.
The Court of Appeals decision to remand the cases applies only to petitioners who are resident in Fulton County. Petitioners Favorito, Terris and Peck will continue on their case while Caroline Jeffords will continue as the lone petitioner in her case. The remaining five Georgia petitioners could appeal their ruling to the Georgia Supreme Court if they choose, given that they were impacted by a statewide race. It seems unlikely that would happen though.

The Gateway Pundit reported that former CIA Director John Brennan on Thursday hobbled into a closed-door interview with the GOP Committee on Weaponization to testify for 2020 election interference and collusion with the Democrat Party.
After 4 hours of grilling, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) said Brennan just further confirmed the letter signed by 51 Former officials was all political.
“[Brennan] further confirmed that this thing was all political,” Jordan told Jesse Watters Thursday.
“Brennan, Mike Morell, and 49 other former intel officials [signed the letter]. And again, [they] didn’t sign on as Mike Morell, [a] private citizen exercising his First Amendment rights, John Brennan [a] private citizen, they signed on as former acting Director of the CIA and Former head of the CIA. They used their title. We expect public servants not to use their title to influence an election,” said Jordan.

Former CIA Director John Brennan and former DNI James Clapper are now being forced to testify before the House Weaponization subcommittee about the statement they signed in 2020 discrediting the Hunter Biden laptop as Russian propaganda.
Former Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper will appear before the Weaponization Committee on May 17.
Just the News founder John Solomon recently obtained an email showing former CIA Director Mike Morell, the guy who organized the ‘spies who lie’ letter, pleading with Obama’s CIA Director John Brennan to sign his name to the letter.
According to a report from Washington Examiner, one of the signers of the Hunter Biden laptop letter said an active CIA employee pushed him to sign it.
“David Cariens, a former intelligence analyst for the CIA, told congressional investigators earlier this year that he and his wife Janice Cariens, a former operations support officer for the CIA, signed the letter with other former intelligence officials after a member of the CIA’s Prepublication Classification Review Board, or PCRB, called him and asked him to,” the outlet reported.
Cariens recalled his memoir was undergoing prepublication review with the PCRB and that an intelligence official approached him if he would sign the draft letter.
The PCRB, after asking the Cariens’ to sign the letter, released Carien’s book, for publication.
“My last book, a memoir, entitled Escaping Madness, was before the PCRB in October 2020. When the person in charge of reviewing the book called to say it was approved with no changes, I was told about the draft letter,” he told Republican investigators in a statement. “After hearing the letter’s contents, and the qualifiers … I agreed to sign.”

Southwest pilots on Thursday authorized a strike.
Just in time for the busy summer travel season!
Pilots are pushing for pay raises and better schedules in their ongoing contract negotiations, the union said.
“The lack of leadership and the unwillingness to address the failures of our organization have led us to this point,” Casey Murray, the president of Southwest’s union, said in a statement. “Our pilots are tired of apologizing to our passengers on behalf of a company that refuses to place its priorities on its internal and external customers.”
Murray continued, “Today, our Pilots have empowered our Negotiating Committee Chair, Captain Jody Reven, to petition the National Mediation Board to release us to self-help imminently at which time we will follow the process set forth by the Railway Labor Act and continue toward a strike. We want our passengers to understand that we do not take this path lightly and are disheartened that the LUV airline has gotten so far away from the values set forth by Herb Kelleher. We want our customers to be prepared for the path ahead and make arrangements on other carriers so that their plans through the summer and fall are not disrupted.”
The airliner insisted they are staffed up and prepared for summer travel.
The Associated Press reported:
Pilots at Southwest Airlines voted overwhelmingly to authorize a strike, their union said Thursday, a move that is unlikely to lead to a walkout in the near future but is designed to put more pressure on the airline during contract negotiations.
The union said 99% of members who took part voted to authorize a strike, and turnout was 98%.
Southwest said the vote has no effect on its operations.
“We are staffed and prepared to welcome travelers for their summer travel plans,” the airline said in a statement.
American Airlines pilots voted to authorize a strike earlier this month.

House Republicans on Thursday passed a major border security package just hours before Title 42 expires.
As Politico reports, the bill contains many conservative priorities including restarting construction on the border wall, expanding e-verify, and placing new limits on asylum seekers.
The legislation also slashes funding for globalist NGOs who often contribute to border lawlessness by aiding human smugglers. Furthermore, it ramps up deportation of illegal aliens and significantly cuts off asylum access according to Axios.
Today’s efforts came after months of negotiation which began back in March. The final vote on the legislation was 219-213, with every single Democrat voting against the bill.
Two Republicans decided to vote against the package despite concerted efforts by House leadership. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep John Duarte (R-CA) were the two lawmakers who voted ‘nay.’

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise in an interview said he was pleased with how the party hung together.
We all wanted to achieve the same thing, but we started off in very different places.
Today made sense as the right date to do it because more people are focusing on the problem than I’ve seen in a long time. … Here you have Republicans coming together saying there is a way to fix it
House Democrats, of course, had nothing productive to say. Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) whined that Republicans wanted to “weaponize and politicize the border as opposed to doing something meaningful about it.”
While the legislation as currently written will not pass the Senate, this political win gives the GOP leverage. With certain chaos to result from Title 42’s expiration, Republicans can point to a solution and at the same time hammer the Regime for letting Americans suffer.
Indeed, several senators across party lines are focused on addressing the end of Title 42. With mounting pressure, it is plausible we could see an eventual extension of the order with a handful of these conservative priorities in a final piece of legislation.
The lives of Americans are on the line thanks to upcoming invasion. The quicker a solution is reached, the safer we all will be.

Joe Biden’s debt ceiling meeting with congressional leaders was postponed until next week.
Biden was supposed to meet with McCarthy, Hakeem Jeffries, McConnell and Schumer on Friday.
The meeting was delayed until next week after a fruitless gathering in the Oval Office on Tuesday.
Congressional leaders and Joe Biden only have a few more weeks to reach a compromise until the US government defaults.

The debt ceiling meeting slated for Friday between President Joe Biden and top congressional leaders has been postponed until early next week, a source told CNBC.
Biden was set to sit down with House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y.
The leaders left their meeting on Tuesday with little progress to show but a commitment for staff members to continue to meet daily to try to reach a compromise.
Joe Biden refuses to budge.
McCarthy’s debt limit plan will eliminate Biden’s unconstitutional student loan bailout plan and slash the funds set aside for the army of IRS agents.

McCarthy and McConnell spoke to the press following their fruitless meeting with Joe Biden.
“Unfortunately the president has waited 97 DAYS without ever meeting. Every day I asked that we meet and he said no,” McCarthy told reporters touting his plan. “The House has raised the debt ceiling in a responsible matter … does [Biden] not believe there’s any place we could find savings?”
McCarthy said he asked Biden numerous times to tell him which spending cuts he would be open to.
“He wouldn’t give me any,” McCarthy said.

The space is turning into the next frontier for the high-end confrontations between nations. And in this new battlefield, the ability to target enemy satellites has become a big priority.
Recently, documents from the Discord Leak have shed light on this theme, and I wrote about it here on TGP. You can read more in Space War: Chinese Plan To Disrupt Enemy Satellites’ Comms in the Event of Conflict.
But this is far from pure speculation, but rather a reality that’s literally orbiting above our heads. Fears have been arising that the Chinese have developed a self-propelled, highly maneuverable Spaceplane that can be used to do precisely that.
The Drive reported:
“Private space services company LeoLabs says its data shows a Chinese reusable space vehicle, believed to be a miniature spaceplane design, docked with or otherwise captured a separate object on multiple occasions during its recent 276-day-long stint in orbit. A highly maneuverable space vehicle with this kind of capability could be used to surveil, disrupt and outright attack an opponent’s space-based assets, as well as retrieve or otherwise interact with friendly ones.”
In a post from LeoLabs on Twitter:
“Since its launch on 4 August 2022, we observed multiple large maneuvers raising the object’s altitude — as well as repeated deployments, formation flying, and docking of a sub-satellite Object J (NORAD ID 54218).”
The mysterious space vehicle landed back on Earth on Monday May 8th, in a mission that’s shrouded in mystery as is always the case in the Chinese space program.

While some applications such as on-orbit inspection, refueling, and servicing are relatively innocuous, a space vehicle with the ability to get close to objects in orbit ‘is inherently capable of acting as a weapon’ – a ‘killer satellite’.
“A docking or capture capability on China’s reusable space vehicle could indicate the presence of robotics arms or other protrusions that could be used to attempt to damage or destroy an opposing satellite. The space vehicle could be equipped with other kinds of offensive capabilities to pair with this, including electronic warfare systems or the ability to launch some kind of projectile.”

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul is preparing his committee to move forward with a contempt of Congress charge against Secretary of State Antony Blinken as soon as May 24 after the State Department is expected to blow past a deadline to hand over a key document related to the August 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.
The committee is specifically seeking a classified dissenting cable that U.S. State Department employees sent prior to the Taliban’s takeover on July 13, 2021. The cable warned about a ‘deteriorating’ security situation’ and urged the immediate evacuation of allies, a warning that the Biden administration did not heed, say Republicans.
Blinken is expected to miss the deadline of 6pm ET Thursday May 11 to hand over the document or legal proceedings would be immediately started against him.
McCaul told DailyMail.com Thursday that the proceedings could begin as soon as May 24.

Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg’s office confirmed that Daniel Penny will be charged with manslaughter in the Second Degree.
Bragg’s office has decided to press charges against Penny without being presented to a grand jury.

According to NBC News, two persons with knowledge of the situation have stated that Penny will be charged and surrender “as early as Friday.”
Penny subdued Jordan Neely, a serial felon when he became violent and threatening on the New York subway.

Penny’s lawyers said he couldn’t “have foreseen” that subduing Neely would kill him.
