A number of people who were present at the U.S. Capitol on January 6th are seeking tens of millions in damages from the federal government.
Filed this week in Florida, the lawsuit targets the actions of the U.S. Capitol Police and Washington, D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department.
It alleges that law enforcement used excessive and “indiscriminate” force against protesters, resulting in physical and emotional injuries.
Officers allegedly fired rubber bullets, chemical spray, flashbangs, and other crowd-control measures in a reckless manner, affecting individuals who were not engaged in violence.
Attorneys argue that the response failed to distinguish between peaceful demonstrators and those involved in confrontations.
The lawsuit states:

This is a Federal Tort Claims Act (“FTCA”) class action seeking money damages for injuries caused when the police indiscriminately launched explosive munitions, chemical agents, and impact projectiles into a peaceful crowd and physically assaulted members of the crowd that was assembled on the west side outdoor terrace and grounds of the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The actions of the police caused physical and emotional injuries, including but not limited to chemical burns, concussive trauma, emotional distress, and other damages to plaintiffs, class members and thousands of other protesters.

The indiscriminate shooting of munitions into the crowd went on for well over an hour. The police admitted on video an hour after the shooting started that the munitions being shot into the crowd were “hitting innocent people.”

Among the lead plaintiffs is A.J. Fischer, an Air Force Veteran who was previously charged with assault before receiving a pardon from President Trump.
He is joined by Patrick and Marie Sullivan, who were present in the crowd and were struck by pepper balls and exposed to chemical agents, despite not facing any criminal charges.
The legal action seeks to establish a broader class of plaintiffs, potentially including dozens of others who were present on the Capitol’s West Front.
The case comes as the Trump administration has already reached settlements in other high-profile cases involving supporters.
These include a multimillion-dollar settlement with the estate of Ashli Babbitt, who was shot inside the Capitol, and a $1.25 million settlement with former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

Second Lady Usha Vance sat down with NBC’s Kate Snow to discuss her growing family, her new podcast, and her political past.
In the interview, Snow stated, “In 2014, you were a registered Democrat.”
Snow continued, “You’re now clearly a Republican, you voted for your husband for Senate as public knowledge, I wonder if you feel fully comfortable in this universe you are in now?
The Second Lady replied, “What do you mean?”
Snow clarified, “In the political universe you’re in.”
Vance answered, “I do feel very comfortable in that no one has ever asked me to engage in any kind of litmus test on anything, and I feel very comfortable in that world.”
“I don’t feel like I have to walk around pretending anything of any sort. Sometimes I have thoughts that fit very comfortably into one side or another, sometimes I have views that are idiosyncratic,” concluded Vance.

The second lady, who was registered as a Democrat until at least 2014, told NBC News she and her husband don’t see eye to eye on every issue.
“I’m not his staffer. I’m not involved in this in any professional sense. … There’s no expectation that we are going to see eye to eye on everything,” Vance said.
“The expectation is that we are going to be open-minded and have a conversation, and that I’ll provide meaningful input from the perspective of someone who loves him and wants him to succeed. So even if we don’t agree, it’s − I think it’s always very productive,” she said. Vance shared her husband will seek her perspective on an issue that is troubling him or is personally important to him.
The second lady was also asked by NBC if she feels fully comfortable in the political universe she’s in now. Vance said she’s never felt pressure to conform to any policy ideas, even though her views don’t always fit neatly on the political spectrum, NBC reported.
Snow, who appeared to have a political agenda during the interview, later asked Usha whether she owned a MAGA hat.
The Second Lady, finding the question humorous, responded, “I don’t really own any hats. I think I have a, uh, a Disneyland hat, I wanna say. Not a hat lady.”

Federal authorities have officially determined that the violent attack on a Michigan synagogue earlier this month was not random, but a calculated act of terrorism inspired by the Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah.
Detroit FBI Special Agent in Charge Jennifer Runyan dropped the bombshell at a press conference Monday, declaring the March 12th ramming attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Township a clear act of terrorism motivated by Hezbollah’s militant ideology.
“Based on the evidence gathered to date, we assess this attack to be a Hezbollah-inspired act of terrorism purposely targeting the Jewish community and the largest Jewish temple in Michigan,” Runyan stated.
“The FBI defines terrorism as a violent criminal act by an individual who is inspired by or associated with a designated foreign terrorist organization. We do not make this characterization lightly without a thorough review and keen evaluation of the facts. In this case, the evidence shows the attacker was motivated and inspired by Hezbollah’s militant ideology.”
Runyan continued: “Although the assailant’s attack planning and mobilization to violence began in earnest on March 9th, which I will fully detail here shortly, a review of his online activity since January 2026 revealed a recurring search history of pro-Hezbollah news channels, Iranian news channels, and videos about shootouts and bullets.
“He regularly consumed breaking news and statements and live coverage of the current Secretary General of Hezbollah, Na’im Qassem, and viewed news coverage about an Iranian fatwa for total jihad against the US military.”

The attacker has been identified as 41-year-old Ayman Mohamad Ghazali.
Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, a Lebanese national who first entered the U.S. in 2011 on an IR1 immigrant visa as the spouse of a U.S. citizen. He was naturalized as a U.S. citizen in 2016 during the Obama administration.
Ghazali rammed his pickup truck loaded with gasoline, fireworks, and explosives into Temple Israel, exchanged gunfire with security, and ultimately died by suicide after his vehicle caught fire.
As The Gateway Pundit reported previously, Ghazali was no stranger to terror ties: his brother, Ibrahim Muhammad Ghazali, was a Hezbollah commander killed in an Israeli airstrike just days before the attack.

President Trump demanded that Senate Republicans get tough and nuke the filibuster, noting that RINO Senate Leader John Thune needs to actually lead and whip up the votes on Sunday evening. 
While speaking to reporters on Air Force One on Sunday, Trump went off on the Democrats, calling them “sick” and likening them to terrorists for their attempts to defund ICE and protect illegal aliens.
When asked about the garbage funding bill that Senate Republicans passed in the middle of the night to reopen the government without funding for ICE, Trump said, “It’s a shame” and that Senate Republicans are “playing it too soft” by failing to take necessary action. “They should terminate the filibuster, and they should vote,” Trump said.
“Terminate the filibuster, just vote, and you’ll get everything you want.”
Trump was further asked to respond to John Thune’s claims that they don’t have enough votes to terminate the filibuster, and he said, “Well, he’s only a couple of votes short, but that’s what being a leader is.” Still, Trump refused to condemn Thune, telling reporters, “I like him so much. He’s a high-quality person.”

Thune now faces calls for his removal as Senate Leader.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) went off on Thune over his failure to reopen the government or pass the SAVE America Act.

Bank of America is paying $72.5 million to settle a federal lawsuit claiming it enabled sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
The lawsuit claimed Bank of America ignored “obvious red flags” while doing business with Epstein and his associates, according to the New York Post.
The bank, so the lawsuit claimed, could have brought law enforcement down upon Epstein sooner if it had adopted a see-no-evil policy. Epstein died in 2019 in a federal jail while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Bank of America is the third bank to settle a lawsuit linked to Epstein. JPMorgan Chase ponied up for $290 million. Deutsche Bank settled for $75 million.
In a statement, a Bank of America representative said, “While we stand by our prior statements made in the filings in this case, including that Bank of America did not facilitate sex-trafficking crimes, this resolution allows us to put this matter behind us and provides further closure for the plaintiffs,” according to The New York Times.
Bank of America became Epstein’s bank after JPMorgan cut ties with him.
The settlement would pay “all women who were sexually abused or trafficked by Jeffrey Epstein, or by any person who is connected to or otherwise associated with Jeffrey Epstein or any Jeffrey Epstein sex-trafficking venture, between June 30, 2008 and July 6, 2019, inclusive,” according to CNBC.
Lawyers estimate “that there are at least 60 women who were victimized by Epstein between” those dates, the filing said.
The lead plaintiff  alleged that after meeting Epstein in 2011, and through 2019, “Epstein sexually abused Jane Doe on at least 100 occasions, including but not limited to, forcibly touching her, forcibly raping her, and forcing her to engage in sexual acts with other women for his own depraved sexual gratification.”
The suit says that in May 2013, the woman, known in court papers as Jane Doe opened a bank account at Bank of America at the direction of Epstein’s accountant and an immigration attorney to defraud immigration officials.

The lawsuit said Epstein paid Jane Doe’s  expenses using a Bank of America account, and held her status as animmigrant  “over her head, until her ultimate escape when Jeffrey Epstein died,” according to CBS.
Sigrid McCawley, a lawyer for the victims, said the deal  was “one more step on the road to much deserved justice,” according to the BBC.

Rep. Eric Swalwell on Saturday responded to news of a renewed FBI probe into his relationship with Fang Fang, the Chinese honeypot who infiltrated his congressional campaign from 2011 to 2015.  
Swalwell told CNN’s Jim Sciutto that the members of the Trump administration are “dangerous individuals” and claimed that the investigation is only happening because he’s sued the Trump campaign, helped lead an impeachment during Trump’s first term, and is running for Governor of California.

Sciutto: As I believe you know that he has now restarted an investigation of you, which the FBI previously conducted and found no accusation or evidence of wrongdoing. Do you suspect, because this wouldn’t be the first time, that this is politically motivated?
Swalwell: I suspect it’s politically motivated. Jim. I have the only lawsuit that has survived this presidency; It’s me in the January 6 officers. I was an impeachment manager, I worked with Adam Schiff on the Russia investigation, and I’m a candidate for governor, and Californians start voting in about 35 days.
So, these are dangerous individuals who have gone after over 500 political opponents and organizations, Donald Trump and the FBI. And we know that they want a Western White House. There’s a threat right now that two Republicans will get through in the top-two primary in California. This is an effort to knock out the person who’s been in the lead.
And Kash Patel, by the way, in his own book called “Government Gangsters,” has a list of government gangsters. I’m not on the list. I’m above the list. Adam Schiff and I are in the prelude to that list, but Californians know better. They are going to pick the next governor, not Donald Trump.

In a statement responding to the reports, Swalwell also wrote,

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has come into the crosshairs of an ethics complaint for using campaign contributions for personal use after allegedly spending almost $19,000 on a psychiatrist who is known for specializing in Ketamine therapy.
The National Legal and Policy Center filed a joint complaint with the Federal Elections Commission (FEC) and the House Ethics Committee on Friday.
It reads, “NLPC alleges that AOC’s expenditure of almost $19,000 of campaign funds in 2025 to psychiatrist Dr. Brian W. Boyle ostensibly for ‘leadership training and consulting’ was expended instead for personal psychiatric services provided to AOC or members of her campaign staff. Accordingly, those expenses were also misreported by the campaign committee with the FEC. NLPC requests that the FEC and OCC immediately investigate the facts and circumstances of these payments and impose appropriate penalties and disciplinary sanctions against AOC.”
However, “there is reason to believe that Dr. Boyle does not provide campaign ‘Leadership Training and Consulting,’” the complaint continues, highlighting his specialty in depression and his status as a “leading authority” on Ketamine therapy.
The complaint further provides receipts of the expenditures from FEC data.
Paul Kamenar, the group’s general counsel, told the New York Post, “AOC’s spending almost $19,000 in campaign funds for a shrink appears to violate both the FEC and House Ethics rules prohibiting use of such funds for personal purposes.”
He added, “While AOC has been in therapy in the past, she should spend her own money if she needs psychiatric treatment from Dr. Brian Boyle, whose specialty includes narcissistic personality disorder.”

Boyle — the chief psychiatric officer at Stella, a chain of mental health clinics focusing on “novel” therapies popular with Hollywood and Wall Street – received four payments from the socialist pol’s campaign last year totaling $18,725.
The expenses were marked as “leadership training and consulting.”
However, it’s unclear what the sessions consisted of or who participated. Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign did not respond to requests for comment.
Boyle, a Harvard-trained doctor, calls himself an “interventional psychiatrist” and specializes in unorthodox methods for treatment-resistant depression, PTSD and anxiety.
This isn’t the first time AOC has come under fire for an ethics violation.

The “No Kings” protests took place nationwide on Saturday with little fanfare, as they were much smaller than the previous demonstrations.
The protests are being organized and funded by progressive far-left groups, including Indivisible, the 50501 movement, and MoveOn.
A Fox News investigation found that roughly 500 organizations with a combined $3 billion in annual revenue backed the protests. This network includes well-funded Democratic-aligned nonprofits and explicitly socialist/communist groups.

Disgraced former CNN anchor, turned YouTuber, Jim Acosta was on video laughing and praising a protest sign that called for President Donald Trump’s death during the “No Kings” rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.
While doing a live “pregame” YouTube stream ahead of the third round of nationwide “No Kings” protests, Acosta stopped to review several signs held by demonstrators.
One sign, held by a woman who appeared to be a senior citizen, featured a photo of President Trump in golf attire and the message, “OK cholesterol, do your job!”
Acosta read the sign out loud and laughed about it.
“I think I know what that means!” Acosta said, gleefully.
He added, “That’s very funny, it’s very clever!”

Acosta continued his live coverage of the protest, later commenting on another sign referencing the unreleased Epstein files.

Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) tore into the US Senate and Senate leadership over their failure to reopen the government and the Republican Party’s refusal to execute on its mandate and pass the SAVE America Act on Sunday. 
The Senate remains deadlocked on both issues due to a slim majority, but could quickly solve both by terminating the 60-vote requirement to pass legislation in the filibuster. However, Senate RINOs, including Leader John Thune, refuse to follow the will of their voters and do so.
Butchett went off on John Thune for his failure on the highly popular SAVE America Act, which would require voter ID and documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote in federal elections, and for passing a garbage funding bill in the middle of the night to fund the Department of Homeland Security without funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement, then ditching town.
“you, as a member of the media, ought to be disgusted to the fact they passed that thing at 2:25 in the morning, and left all the other senators kind of hanging,” Burchett told Fox’s Jacqui Heinrich, slamming Thune for cutting a deal with Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer.
“The whole deal of the stereotype of Congress is, and it’s well deserved, is that we pass stuff in the dark of night because we don’t have any guts, and that’s clearly what’s shown in the Senate leadership,” he added, calling for Thune to be ousted.
“I think they need to get some new leadership over there, in my opinion.”

He ignores that, and you, as a member of the media, ought to be disgusted to the fact they passed that thing at 2:25 in the morning, and left all the other senators kind of hanging.
All he had to do is have five of his cronies on the floor. He cuts a deal with Schumer. Obviously, the leadership in the Senate, and that’s on both sides of the aisle, has a real disgust for this President and House leadership because they didn’t even have the guts to call Speaker Mike Johnson and let them know what happened.

He further slammed the Senate for bailing on vacation while the government remains shut down, touting his Do Your Job Act, which he has introduced numerous times since 2019 to freeze Congressional salaries if federal employees are not getting paid due to a shutdown.
“When government’s in a shutdown, or a partial shutdown, as this is, we shouldn’t get paid, he said,” slamming his colleagues as “spoiled brats.” To the members who complain about their nearly $200,000-a-year salary for almost no work, he said, “Dadgummit, go home!”

Burchett: I think we need to get back and get back to work, Ma’am. We used to say in the state legislature, you shouldn’t have hired on if you didn’t want to work. And clearly they don’t want to work. But honestly, I do more work when I’m at home. You know, I can’t get used to those two hour work weeks when I’m in Washington, waiting on the Senate to budge on something, and that’s clearly what’s going on here. And Harvey’s right. TMZ, he is correct. I hope they bust some people on this thing because this is ridiculous. America’s suffering, we’re paying more at the pumps.
These ridiculous lines, were forcing TSA agents to work for free multiple times this year, and yet, Congress has continued to be paid. That’s why I sponsored legislation to do away with that. When government’s in a shutdown, or a partial shutdown, as this is, we shouldn’t get paid, but we’re a bunch of spoiled brats, ma’am. And you know, I get sick and tired of congressmen saying they can’t, you know, “You know how much money I could make if I just went home and worked?” Well, dadgummit, go home!
More people have played professional baseball than have been in the United States Congress. You need to treat it as— I treat it as an honor. Every time I get off that plane and look at that capital, I get chills, and when you don’t you need to pack it up and come home.
