80 Year Old Forced to Go Back to Work in Biden’s Broken Economy, Students Raise Funds to Let Him Retire Again

Millions of Americans are suffering in Joe Biden’s economy as consumer prices continue to rise.
“Mr. James,” an 80 old custodian at Callisburg High School in rural Texas, was forced to come out of retirement and return to work to make ends meet after a rise in the cost of living.
Students at Callisburg decided to do something about it. Greyson Thurman, Marti Yousko and Banner Tidwell put together a GoFundMe campaign for him and shared a video of Mr. James hard at work on TikTok that Thurman shared with his 2,000+ followers.
Text over the video reads, “This is our 80 y/o janitor who had his rent raised and had to come back to work. Let’s help Mr. James out. No one his age should have to be cleaning our messes up to continue to live.”

@grey.thurman Go fund me is in the bio! My classmates and I hate seeing Mr. James here, no one his age should have to be cleaning our messes up to continue to live. #fyp#school#gofundme#fy#mrjames ♬ snowfall – Øneheart & reidenshi

Students told KHOU11, “It’s just so sad seeing an 80-year-old man having to do things no 80-year-old should have to do.”

In the first 12 hours, the campaign raised $10,000, primarily from students at the school.

The campaign went viral and, by February 24th when Mr. James asked that the fundraiser be completed, $270,000 has been raised to allow him to return to retirement.

An update to the GoFundMe reads, “Thank you everyone who donated and helped Mr. James enjoy his retirement, he asked for us to take down the GoFundMe today, He is VERY appreciative of everyone willing to give up their time to help him out and change his life. You all have shown what can happen when everyone gets together to help others!!! I think God did this to show that no matter how much evil there is good will always show it’s self! Mr. James thanks you all!! God bless yall!”

Beautiful: Revivals Spread to College Campuses Across the Nation

The Gateway Pundit has reported on the beautiful chapel service at Asbury University in Kentucky that lasted for 16 days. Thousands of people attended the event to receive a fresh touch from God.
In Santa Monica, thousands more gathered and marched in Jesus March Revival 2023.
Beautiful expressions of faith have continued to grow, perhaps in a much needed response to the evil presented to us day after day, and the movement has spread across the nation.
The Baylor student newspaper the Baylor Lariat reports:
On Feb. 19, Harris Creek Baptist Church held a worship and prayer service on Baylor’s campus, which has led students to participate in daily worship since. Services have been held from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. at Elliston Chapel, the George W. Truett Seminary Chapel and several off-campus locations.
Will Bowden, director of Waco Baptist Student Ministry, works with Christian organizations at McLennan Community College, Baylor and Texas State Technical College. He said the worshiping occurring on these campuses is student-led.
“The thing about what’s happening right now is that it’s very student-led… Sunday night there’s mostly students leading the prayer time and on Monday [from] 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., most of it was students coming up and confessing and sharing scripture. That’s probably why a lot of faculty don’t know yet: it really is students leading students,” Bowden said.
Bowden also said a large part of the revival movement in Asbury was encouraged by the university’s president who spread word of the worship. Bowden said he believes the president of Baylor could do the same thing.
“We have an amazing, God-fearing president at Baylor,” Bowden said. “Her and her husband love Jesus, and they’re behind a lot of this as well, so who knows what could happen if faculty get behind it.”
McLennan Community College Baptist Student Ministry president Lauren Baker said their worship service on Tuesday had been planned for months, before any “revival” began to grow in popularity. She said she has known God was going to move in her generation for years, and is happy to see it happen at Asbury and Waco. She said she hopes both cases are sincere in their intentions to praise God.

  • Leftists Infuriated After Kansas Makes History as First State to Pass Bill Defining Women as ‘Biologically Born a Female’

Kansas has made history as the first state in the union to pass a bill that legally defines a ‘woman’ as some who, shockingly, is actually a biological female.
    Earth shattering revelation, right?
This was done out of necessity as to stop people pretending to be women or vice a versa from single-sex areas such as bathrooms and changing rooms.
The law, which is titled the Women’s Bill of Rights, was passed by legislators this week and automatically was met with the outcry of tears and outrage by Democrats who called it “equally offensive” to trans and cisgender women.
For the record for people who live in the real world— ‘cisgender’ is a made up word for people who know what their sex is.
In an interview with The Washington Times, Senator Erickson, who championed this bill, stated “What this does is simply codify in the law the definition of sex.
“It simply says that in existing statute or law, where there is a definition of sex, it means biological male and female as determined at birth. That’s factual, it’s very objective.”

Yep! I was able to respond to her incredibly false claim of Thomas ever being ranked 6th nationally. This was in Kansas in regard to SB180, Women’s Bill of Rights which just codifies “woman” in legislature (preexisting and to come) to mean your biological sex (XX) pic.twitter.com/y06vavapYU
    — Riley Gaines (@Riley_Gaines_) February 16, 2023

    What is a Woman?
The Women’s Bill of Rights states that a woman is someone “whose biological reproductive system is developed to produce ova’ while ‘male’ refers to anyone whose reproductive system ‘is developed to fertilize the ova of a female.”
This bill will largely protect the safety of women as well as the integrity of women’s sports, which have been the center stage for many of the transgender debates as men who claim to live as women have been decimating them in sports specifically meant for female athletes.
While mainstream media and entertainment outlets paint the picture that it is socially acceptable for men to take scholarships, awards, and winnings from female athletes, by and large the data shows that this isn’t true.
    According to Bounding Into Sports:
A recent poll conducted by the Washington Post and the University of Maryland reveals that 58% of Americans are opposed to transgender athletes competing in women’s sports at the college level and only 28% are in support. Additionally, 68% of responders said that transgender girls would have a competitive advantage over other girls…
The poll was conducted online between May 4-17, 2022, in a random national sample of 1,503 adults. It also reveals that 58% of Americans are opposed to transgender athletes competing with girls at the professional level, 55% oppose at the high school level, and 49% at the youth sports level. This poll comes on the heels of Louisiana passing a law last week that bans transgender athletes from competing in girl’s sports in college and high school. Louisiana is the 18th state to pass such legislation.
Outside of the world of sports, this will also stop transgender men and women from making significant changes to their birth certificates and driver’s licenses in order to bypass any imposed restrictions.

    Democrats Ditched Real Women
Director of the Independent Women’s Law Center Jennifer Braceras has also spoken out in support of the bill.
“It codifies the current constitutional jurisprudence and the intermediate scrutiny standard that we’ve all come to rely on to protect women’s rights,” she said.
“But also recognize that there are certain situations in which men and women can be separated without violating the constitution” which include “Bathrooms, prisons, sports, domestic-violence shelters, etc.”
Senators voted 26-10 to approve this bill, and by the numbers you can clearly see that not a single Democrat voted to defend the rights and natural identity of real women. While the passing of this in the Senate chamber may make supporters want to pop the champagne, this may not be the time to do so.
This bill will still have to be sent to Governor Laura Kelly, a Democrat who has already vetoed two previous versions of this bill.
It’s genuinely sad that we, the most educated and privileged civilization in human history, with all our discoveries and modern advancements, will not defend basic truths that regardless of religion, politics, or personal opinion, that in a state of nature no human can transcend gender.
Men are men, women are women, water is wet, gravity exists. These used to be basic truths, but now we are willingly denying them to be accepted by individuals who want to remake reality in their own, distorted image.
It was just last year that then-Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, when going before her Supreme Court nominating process in the US Senate, could not define what a ‘woman’ is.
Justice Jackson is a objectively an intelligent woman; she did not actually not know what a woman was, she just lied because it’s what the radical base of today’s Democratic Party wanted her to say.
What other truths are we willing to deny today just to get what we want?

  • Cruz: Thousands Of Jobs On Hold As Biden Administration Delays Deepwater Port Applications

By Bethany Blankley (The Center Square)
U.S. Sen.r Ted Cruz, R-Texas, is demanding answers from the Department of Transportation’s Maritime Administration (MARAD) about extensive delays in approving applications for deepwater ports for exporting oil and natural gas.
MARAD has failed to meet its statutory deadlines to make decisions, which impacts Texas the most, Cruz said. Four of the seven applications for licenses are for projects off the Texas coast.
MARAD has until Monday, Feb. 27, to provide Cruz with a planned timeline for issuing all pending deepwater port licenses, according to a letter he sent to Rear Admiral Ann Phillips Administrator, Maritime Administration U.S. Department of Transportation. He also requested quarterly updates be provided to his staff about the progress of any pending license or license application.
According to the Deepwater Port Act of 1974, applicants are required to obtain licenses from MARAD to own, construct, operate and decommission deepwater port structures for the import and export of oil and natural gas. Congress established mandatory timelines of 240 days to conclude public hearings and 356 days to reach a decision on a deepwater port applications.
However, on average, the agency’s taken three years without issuing a deepwater port licensing decision. According to MARAD, delayed applications go as far back as May 2019.
Related: Cruz Slams FAA Chief For Recent Airline Safety Failures, Says Administration Should Stop Focusing on Things Like ‘Birthing Persons’
To “skirt the 356-day timeline” created by Congress, Cruz argues, “MARAD has asked applicants for additional information, often paused the clock, and has not resumed it in many situations. The result has been that the average project approval time has ballooned to approximately 1,000 days, which is close to triple the mandatory time limit.”
“While these projects are complex and require the review and input of the public and other state and federal agencies, applicants have complained of prolonged delays associated with the Maritime Administration’s slow processing time and general lack of communication during the process,” he wrote. He also expressed concerns that deepwater port projects “are being delayed unnecessarily.”
The delayed projects in Texas “will create or support thousands of jobs and generate billions of dollars in economic benefits,” he added. “Once operational, these deepwater ports will increase our energy export capabilities, helping to establish greater energy security for our allies who are suffering from Russia’s weaponization of its energy reserves. These ports will also support the environment by displacing less efficient export modes and foreign-produced sources of energy with higher levels of emissions and pollution.”
Part of the delays relate to MARAD requiring applicants to complete an “Environmental Justice engagement plan.” Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and multiple attorneys general, state associations and organizations are fighting a similar agenda promulgated by an EPA “environmental justice” rule they argue jeopardizes American energy and national security.
“The uncertainty over whether and when MARAD will approve these plans (or move the goalposts) makes planning and investment difficult for applicants, thus reducing job growth, and hurting allies seeking to import U.S. energy,” Cruz said.
Ed Longanecker, president of the Texas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association (TIPRO), told The Center Square, “Impeding the development of oil and natural gas infrastructure projects creates uncertainty in the market and hesitation from investors. These projects are necessary to address growing energy demand here and abroad, and this red tape only further constrains a tight oil and gas market, driving higher energy prices and ultimately hurting everyday Americans.”
He also pointed out that “advancing new energy infrastructure projects, including pipelines, deepwater ports and LNG export facilities, is critical” at a time when “exports are also expected to reach records highs. As this trend continues, the United States will need more deepwater ports.”
Related: Ted Cruz, Joe Manchin Introduce Bipartisan Bill Blocking Biden Ban on Gas Stoves
In its most recent Short Term Energy Outlook, the U.S. Energy Information Agency forecast that U.S. natural gas pipeline exports will reach record highs between 9.0 Bcf/d and 10.0 Bcf/d in the 2022-2023 winter season, largely driven by record production in the Permian Basin in west Texas and southeast New Mexico.
In 2022, Texas was the top oil producer in America, supplying 1.83 billion barrels of oil to energy markets. The state broke a new record in natural gas output with over 11.2 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas produced. It did so as it broke records with reduced methane emissions intensity in the Permian Basin by over 76% as it increased production by 345%, according to a recent report.
In the first half of 2022, the U.S. became the world’s largest liquid natural gas exporter, led by Texas, according to EIA data.

Country Star Brad Paisley Teams Up with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on New Song ‘Same Here’

On Friday, country music superstar Brad Paisley released a new song titled Same Here dedicated to people of Ukraine which features none other than the voice of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy himself.

On this one year anniversary of the invasion, I’m reminded of the ways we are all so similar. Here is the first song available from my new project. This is “Same Here”. Featuring Pres. Volodymyr Zelenskyy (@ZelenskyyUa)https://t.co/oWdVc8e7dv pic.twitter.com/AsivvDponb

Brad Paisley’s New Song Same Here ft. Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Zelenskyy reportedly had input on the song. Which Paisely found appropriate given the Ukranian President’s entertainment background.
“I think he understands that art is how you reach the most people, especially in the heart,” the Whiskey Lullaby singer said. “He can give as many speeches as he can give, but it’s a lot easier to hear something with a melody maybe.”
Paisley seeks to draw similarities between the American and Ukranian people in Same Here.
When discussing the meaning of his song with The Associated Press, Paisley said, “There’s just no differences. You can put us in different places with different flags and different languages, but we have so many similarities.”
Same Here does not explicitly mention Ukraine. However, the video incorporates Zelenskyy introduced by Paisley as “a friend across the ocean.”
Around the 3-minute mark you hear, “Hi Brad”. To which Paisley responds, “Hello, Mr. President.”
After being asked how to say “same here” in Ukrainian, Zelenskyy launches into a short dialogue suggesting how similar our countries are:
“We speak different languages in our life. Yes, but I think we appreciate the same things – children, freedom, our flag, our soldiers, our people. The biggest treasure we have. And friends. And we’re proud of our army who defends our freedom and will defend our lives. There’s no distance between our countries in such values. That is very important to see that they are really in many, in many things really the same.”
People React to Brad Paisley’s Same Here ft. Volodymyr Zelenskyy
Initial comments on the video are positive and suggest the 3-time Grammy winning artist’s intended message got across.
Commenter Mary Ann Kennedy wrote, “WE ARE ALL THE SAME.. hearts beat and bleed red. I Pray this message takes hold EVERYWHERE, the UsA so needs it too, you dont take POWER with you when you die.. you take Love. THANK YOU BRAD ”
Scott Runningwolf added, “Hey Brad same here, same here!!Your the Bob Dylan of country music I must say you brought tears and pride to my life this a.m.as for president zelenskyy we stand with you and know deep down goodness will prevail.”
Commenter Hether Knopp went for a deep reference, “”e’s got his own kind of football team, that lets him down every year” – Pure Paisley poetry! I hope it hits the radio hard – we need the pendulum to swing back to more traditional country that tells stories and tugs heartstrings. This is a thoughtful song to remind us all that we are more alike than different, and to not let the differences divide us. I’m sure it will ruffle some feathers though – like Billy Joel’s “Leningrad” and other songs.”
You can listen to Brad Paisley’s new song “Same Here” featuring Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the video below.

    Brad Paisely Supports Ukraine

Paisely was joined by Paul McCartney, Ben Stiller, Sheryl Crow, Jeff Daniels, Alicia Keys, and more for the fundraiser that aired on both NBC and MSNBC.
If you’re asking yourselves why ultra-rich celebrities would choose to ask everyday Americans in a struggling economy to financially support Ukraine when the US government gave Ukraine over $100 BILLION in aid during the first year of the invasion – that’s a very good and valid question.
Of course, at the time, the US has only spent tens of billions in aid. Not yet reaching the impressive $100 billion milestone. But did they really need your hard-earned dollars?
Some might tell you it’s your duty to help save the world. Or that you should give to others in need.
Others might call it Hollywood virtue signaling. Or say that celebrities are just that out of touch.
    Mark Hamill Takes Ukraine
Which is where we have to give some credit to Paisley. His song of unity is at least enjoyable listening and also more palatable than the overt virtue signaling of some others.
Take the og Jedi, Luke Skywalker. Mark Hamill is not only leveraging his Star Wars fame to support Ukraine but also asking his fans to send them money.
It’s exactly as bad as it sounds. Hamill is even promoting his Ukraine fundraiser with the slogan, “Join the resistance to a real life evil empire.”

  • Defendants In Corruption Case Don’t Want Expert To Testify About Chicago Politics

By Brett Rowland (The Center Square)
Attorneys representing four people indicted in a federal bribery and conspiracy case involving Illinois’ largest utility company are worried about a political science professor.
They are concerned the expert witness’ explanations of how Chicago’s political machine works could make their clients look guilty in front of a jury at an upcoming trial.
Federal prosecutors want University of Illinois at Chicago Professor Emeritus Dick Simpson to explain Chicago’s Ward system, “including the operation of the political machine as it works through the Ward political organizations including the Ward Committeeperson, precinct captains and patronage hiring.” Prosecutors said in a motion that Simpson’s testimony would be “narrowly tailored” to “topics that are relevant to the trial and will likely be unfamiliar to the jury.”
The defense attorneys said Simpson’s testimony wasn’t relevant.
“Professor Simpson’s unreliable, irrelevant, cumulative, and prejudicial testimony is a transparent attempt to paint the four defendants with the broad brush of Chicago political corruption,” the attorneys wrote in a motion seeking to keep Simpson’s testimony out of the trial.
Prosecutors contend it is necessary background for a case that involves former politicians, a former utility executive and lobbyists with connections to Michael Madigan, the former Illinois Speaker of the House long seen as the state’s most powerful politician because he for many years controlled both the lower legislative chamber and served as the chairman of the Democratic Party of Illinois.
Related: Lori Lightfoot Tells People Who Don’t Support Her Not to Vote, Quickly Backtracks
Prosecutors charged former ComEd CEO Anne Pramaggiore, former ComEd lobbyist John Hooker, former ComEd consultant Jay Doherty and former lobbyist and Madigan confidante Michael McClain with bribery conspiracy, bribery, and willfully falsifying ComEd books and records in November 2020. All pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.
Simpson, who got a Ph.D. in political science from Indiana University, has served on the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago since 1967. He has a 28-page curriculum vitae. Prosecutors said he’s the “foremost expert in Chicago politics and government.” He’s written extensively in books and scholarly journals about politics, with a focus on Chicago politics. He also served as a Chicago Alderman for eight years from 1971 to 1979. Prosecutors also noted that Simpson served as an expert witness in other trials, including a case involving sham political candidates in Madigan’s former district. Simpson declined to comment because he’s an expert witness in the case.
Kent Redfield, a professor emeritus of political science with the University of Illinois, said prosecutors want to be able to explain to a jury how the political system is supposed to work.
“You want somebody that’s got a sense of what’s reasonable in terms of the way the process is supposed to work,” he said. “And where’s the line in terms of when you go from the necessity for compromise and building consensus to when you cross over into things that you would recognize as bribery, extortion, fraud … that go beyond the normal give and take of politics.”
Related: Chicago Mayor Lightfoot Explains ‘The Shining’ Email Where She Went Ballistic On Aide
Redfield said the defense attorneys are concerned about how the jury could take that explanation, especially if jurors have preconceived notions about Chicago politics.
“If you’ve got a jury that already believes that politics are corrupt in Illinois and politics are particularly corrupt in Chicago – Chicago politicians are kind of the quintessential example of that – then [the defense is] concerned,” he said. “How does my client get a fair trial?”
Prosecutors, in response to the defense motion to exclude Simpson, wrote that Simpson’s “testimony will provide critical context to the evidence in this case.”
A judge is expected to rule on the motion before the April trial.

This is a tight room, a well-dressed crowd showing great respect for their surroundings. Perhaps they simply felt that silence was the best way to show respect.
Additionally, a vast majority of the crowd is holding up cell phones to record her entrance or have programs in their hands, making it difficult to start clapping no matter who is addressing them.
However, while we are cutting some slack, others aren’t quite as forgiving. And that’s okay.

In what came to be symbolic of his low-energy presidential campaign in 2016, Bush implored a crowd of unenthusiastic supporters to “please clap” after delivering a line he felt was worthy of support.

“Hope my show tonight goes better than this,” tweeted comedian Doc Kennedy.
“The audience had to be reminded to clap for the vice president,” Fox News host Sean Hannity taunted. “You really can’t make this up.”
Fox News Radio host Jimmy Failla joked that maybe the audience “did not want to wake Biden” considering it was early in the afternoon.

    Another Painfully Embarrassing Moment
Perhaps Kamala’s ‘please clap’ moment is more reminiscent of when she was campaigning for President and asked a crowd at a town hall event if they were ready for her and quickly regretted the question.
“There’s this whole conversation that has been coming up about electability focused on our campaign,” she said at the time. “Is America ready for that?”
A few people in the crowd shouted “No!”
“Well, yes they are,” she fired back after initially making a shocked face.

At the same event, Harris reiterated her strange fascination with Venn diagrams.
“I like to think of a lot of things in the context of a Venn diagram, I love Venn diagrams. Always ask, ‘Is there a Venn diagram for this?’ I’m telling you, it’s fascinating when you do,” she explained. “So, Venn diagram, those three circles, right?”
She should have stopped after the first four words – ‘I like to think…’

That Venn diagram fascination may only be eclipsed by Kamala’s love of yellow school buses.

“I don’t know what she likes better: Venn diagrams or giggling,” Hannity quipped, referring to the Vice President’s penchant for a good ol’ fashioned cackle.
President Biden, who chose Harris as his running mate in 2020 almost exclusively because she is black and female, has reportedly described her as a “work in progress.”
That implies progress is actually being made. It isn’t.

Military Families Need Food Banks to Feed Families While Illegals Throw out Food

My husband and I are part of a distinct few in this country who dedicated chunks of their lives to serving our country. Collectively, we served 37 years in the United States Air Force and deployed a dozen times to various war zones.
Serving your country is one of the most selfless things you can do, whether you join because you want to serve or because you lack other options. Wearing the uniform of the United States demands that you put that service ahead of yourself, your family, and your desires — and it should be as it isn’t just a job; it is a promise to protect, defend, and emulate the principles that make our country great.
While most Americans are eager to thank active duty and veterans for their service, most don’t understand how difficult it is to survive daily life as a service member or veteran. It is a shame that in today’s day and age, it might be the hardest it’s ever been to provide for yourself and your family if you wear the American flag on your sleeve.

Military families forced to rely on food pantries to survive in ‘grossly expensive’ NYC; Jaime Billert grew up in a military family and thought she knew the meaning of “sacrifice” can’t afford the price of groceries.

    Hunger Pains
Currently, 25% of military families in our country suffer from food insecurity. Just chew on that for a moment, 1 in 4 military families in the United States from coast to coast are unsure of how they will provide meals for their children.
In a recent Department of Defense survey, half of the junior enlisted spouses said they regularly experience food insecurity. While this pain is felt in every state in our union, it is predictably more severe in states like New York, where the cost of living is unbearably high.
Many military spouses, particularly in New York, must rely on food pantries to ensure they have milk, eggs, diapers, and meat to feed their families. According to an unnamed spouse who spoke to the New York Post, part of the problem is “the military pays a living allowance that falls short of what the actual cost of living requires.”
Andie Coakley, a Coast Guard veteran who runs the Ford Wadsworth Pantry on Staten Island in New York, said “We have families who move from a place with a low cost of living, and they come to a place like New York where insurance for their car suddenly triples, and they ask themselves: ‘What just happened? We thought we were fine.’”
So let’s look at what the average active duty enlisted receives for compensation to survive from the federal government.

There are military families in New York City who rely on food pantries. In the same cities illegal immigrants are being put up at hotels and given free food that they are throwing away because they “don’t like it”. Something is very screwed up with our government’s priorities.

    Pennies
For readers unfamiliar with the military rank structure, allow me to give you a quick cliff notes explanation. In the military, you have two groups of service members; enlisted and officers.
The bulk of your military comprises enlisted members who are the workers of the force, the ones who make the machine work. Your pay grades for enlisted start from the lowest rank E1 to the highest rank E9.
Most enlisted pin on or sew on E3 shortly after boot camp, earning roughly $25,920 annually, which averages to $2,160 monthly. Take a minute to ask yourself if you could support yourself, let alone a spouse and two kids, on $2,160 a month in your state, let alone a state like New York.
Let’s move up the ranks to your E5s, who are considered supervisors responsible for teams of lower-ranking individuals. They make roughly $35,040 a year or $2,920 a month – again, take a minute and ask yourself the same question as before.
And now your E7s, the coveted first rank of the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, your leaders and program managers. They make about $51,624 a year or $4,552 a month, a bit better for sure, but if you compare that to what a 2Lt makes, which is the lowest officer rank averages to over $63,000 annually.
Quite the disparity, don’t you think?

Under Joe Biden (FJB), Food Insecurity has risen to 1 in 4 in the Active Duty Military Community. Think about that, since 2021, Bidenflation is causing hunger and malnutrition 1 in 4 active duty military families!
    Not a very proud fact!

Yeah, but You Get so Much for Free
I rarely had many ‘civilian’ friends when I served, mainly because they couldn’t understand what it was like to be in the military. Many thought we lived a blessed easy life; after all, we get our uniforms for free, education for free, get to live on base in some instances and get to see the world.
The reality is nothing we ‘got’ in the service was for free. It all came with a price.
Ms. Coakley explains how difficult it can be, “People say that military families don’t know how to manage their money, but you have to remember that these families are moving every two to four years.” Ms. Coakley illustrates what that is like for our spouses, “A military spouse has to give up a job, find a new job wherever they go, and pay a lot in moving expenses.”
Every time I moved, which was every two years, my husband had to leave his job, find a new job, and sometimes couldn’t work because the waiting list to put our kids in daycare was too long, and off-base daycare was too expensive. Kyle Lord, Director of Keystone Military Families, rightly states, “These are people protecting us, protecting our borders and keeping us safe. And yet they have to worry if their child is going to get food before school or if there is going to be enough dinner when they get home.”
I can’t think of much more damaging to a service member’s dignity than spending 10 – 12 hours a day at work, deploying 6 – 12 months at a time, and knowing that they cannot provide for their family. Does anyone care?

    Shameful
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture‘s definition of food security, the below breakout currently are food insecure:

    45% of E1s – E4s
    30% of E5s & E6s
    16% of E7s – E9s

While active duty families rely on a twice-a-month option to utilize a food pantry on Staten Island, the New York City Mayor just opened the 85th luxury hotel to house illegal immigrants who have been reported to throw away their fresh free food and trash the hotels the taxpayers which include those service members and veterans in the state paid for. At the same time military mothers and fathers go without a meal so they can feed their children; their Commander-in-Chief preaches student loan forgiveness and flies off to Ukraine.
When was the last time President Biden and his wife visited a food pantry frequented by military members? I wonder if he spent time thinking about them when signing his latest equity Executive Order.
What is equitable about military families starving in the very country they sacrifice so much for? One military spouse said, “How do we make sure that we put money aside for our children’s education?”
And before I leave you, let me drop a few more numbers:

17% of the homeless population in the U.S. are veterans
in 2020 an average of 16 veterans killed themselves daily
in 2021 519 active duty service members killed themselves

Does anybody care? I can promise you that I do, and I’ll continue to blast the system that claims to care about those who raised their right hand yet do absolutely nothing for them.

  • Legislation Would Block Hostile Actors From Land Purchase Near U.S. Military Bases

By Victor Skinner (The Center Square)
Legislation in Congress would block China and foreign adversaries from buying land around U.S. military installations, including six major bases in North Carolina.
U.S. Sen. Ted Budd, R-NC, is cosponsoring Protecting Military Installations and Ranges Act, which was reintroduced by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-TX. The legislation targets efforts by hostile actors from China, Russia, Iran and North Korea to acquire U.S. land close to U.S. military installations or areas.
The bill would also empower the Department of Defense to prevent construction on any site under federal investigation.
The Army’s Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base is in the southeastern part of the state; Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is in eastern North Carolina; and Marine Corps Air Station Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River are along the coast, not more than an hour’s drive from the more inland MCAS Cherry Point. Two Coast Guard bases are on the northern coast at Elizabeth City; and the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point is on the southern coast in Brunswick County. There are other locations that would qualify under the bill.
It’s a national security measure, and for the Old North State, there are thousands of troops and billions of dollars in economic impact linked to the bases.
“The increasing strategy, employed by nations like China, of buying up land near military facilities around the country is a direct threat to our national security,” Budd said. “As a senator from a state which has eight military installations and is home to thousands of active duty service members and veterans, this is a threat that must be directly confronted and stopped.”
Related: Border Patrol: Record Number Of Chinese Nationals Entering U.S. Illegally
Cruz previously introduced the bill in 2021, after offering similar legislation as an amendment to the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act.
The latter was in response to a growing number of Chinese-owned wind farms disrupting operations on southern and western Texas military training routes, and would have empowered the Defense Department’s Siting Clearinghouse to conduct a more thorough review of wind farm construction near military installations.
“I’m proud to help secure our national security interests with this common sense bill to safeguard our infrastructure and instillations against governments and regimes that threaten the United States,” Cruz said. “The espionage threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party is acute, persistent, and has repeatedly endangered the safety and security of Texas and indeed all Americans. The CCP cannot be allowed to expand those efforts by purchasing land near installations that are integral to our national security.”
Similar House legislation was reintroduced last week by U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-TX, titled “Protecting Military Installations from Foreign Espionage Act,” which aims to address the same issue.
Gonzalez penned a letter to former U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer in January 2021 that raised concerns about GH America Energy, a subsidiary of China’s Guanghei Energy Company. It purchased 130,000 acres in Texas’ Val Verde County in 2015 near Laughlin Air Force Base, the branch’s largest training base.
Related: Questions Mount as Reports Show US Was Tracking First Spy Balloon From the Moment It Took Off From China
In addition to concerns about a company with CCP ties linking into the power grid, Gonzalez highlighted potential implications for national security, despite assurances from the Committee on Foreign Investment that the deal did not pose security concerns.
“If they are not already, the CCP could use this site to gather intelligence on Air Force pilot training, as well as United States border security operations,” he wrote.
Similar land purchases would not be possible under Cruz’s bill, which would deny purchases linked to adversaries within 100 miles of a military installation, or within 50 miles of a military training route.
