    El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, who once described his own country as ‘Third World,’ slammed the indictment of former President Donald Trump, suggesting America itself would view similar actions in another country as an attack on democracy.
    “Think what you want about former President Trump and the reasons he’s being indicted,” Bukele tweeted earlier this week. “But just imagine if this happened in any other country, where a government arrested the main opposition candidate.”
    “The United States’ ability to use ‘democracy’ as foreign policy is gone,” he added.
    That’s right. The president of a Third World country is ridiculing the United States of America over the politically-motivated arrest of a presidential candidate.

    El Salvador President Nayib Bukele Slams Trump Indictment
    Donald Trump, the current frontrunner for the GOP nomination for President in 2024, concurs that the unfolding events are something you’d never have thought possible in this country.
    “I never thought anything like this could happen in America. I never thought it could happen,” he said at a Mar-a-Lago speech following his indictment. “The only crime that I have committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it.”
    “A local failed district attorney charging a former President of the United States for the first time in history on a basis that every single pundit and legal analyst said there is no case — there’s no case,” Trump added.

    Trump was arraigned after being charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, low-level felonies in New York State but which carry a potential for a 4-year prison sentence each.
    He pleaded not guilty.
    The case, centered on alleged ‘hush money’ payments to porn actress Stormy Daniels, is something federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York opted not to pursue in 2019.
    The Federal Election Commission dropped its review of the case in 2021.

    More Criticism of America From the Outside World
    This isn’t the first time El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele has weighed in on the state of America in the post-2020 election era.
    In an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson last year, Bukele noted that the demise of America “has to come from within.”
    “No external enemy can cause this much damage,” he lamented, before describing how Democrats have turned once-pristine American cities into hell holes.
    “I mean, I’m from El Salvador, a third-world country in Central America, and I myself see cities here and say I wouldn’t live here,” Bukele said. “That would be unthinkable three decades ago, that a Salvadoran wouldn’t want to live in a U.S. main city.”
    He would go on to tell Carlson that he’d fear for his safety in cities like San Francisco, Philadelphia, New York, and Chicago.
    Bukele is right. The demise of America has come from within. It comes from Democrats who systematically destroy cities and criminally pursue their political opponents. And it comes from spineless Republicans who get really angry about it but ultimately do nothing to stop it.

    Bukele’s comments are also not the first time leaders from other nations have had to step in and remark about the state of affairs in America following the 2020 election.
    The censorship of former President Trump and his supporters had gotten so bad by January 2021 that world leaders from other countries began lecturing America on free speech.

  • Republican AGs Fight Biden Admin’s Gas Stove Regulations

    Twenty-one states’ attorneys general wrote a letter opposing Department of Energy regulations regarding gas stoves.
    Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird joined the coalition in a letter Monday to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm that said the department’s standards for consumer conventional cooking products are an attempt to micro-manage Americans’ lives.

    The department released a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking in February. Responses were accepted through Monday.
    The document said that the Energy Policy and Conservation Act, with its 2020 amendments, stipulates that any energy conservation standard must seek the maximum improvement in energy efficiency that the department determines is technologically feasible and economically justified. It must result in a significant conservation of energy.
    The Department of Energy’s Feb. 1 document said that under its authority in 42 U.S.C. 6295(h)(2), it proposes that beginning in 2026, conventional gas cooking tops must have no more than 1,204 kBtu per year. Conventional ovens will not be allowed to have a control system with a linear power supply. The control system for gas ovens couldn’t be equipped with a constant burning pilot light. The energy secretary had to publish a final rule in 1992 to determine whether standards for kitchen ranges and ovens should be amended and provide that the amendment applies to products beginning in 1995.
    With a 7% discount rate for consumer benefits and costs and nitrous oxides and sulfur dioxide reduction benefits, and a 3% discount rate case for greenhouse gas social costs, the estimated cost of the proposed standards for consumer conventional cooking products is $32.5 million annually in increased product costs, the department said.  The estimated annual benefits are $100.8 million in reduced product operating costs, $67.0 million in climate benefits and $64.9 million in health benefits. The net benefit would be $200.3 million per year.
    According to the department, the ruling doesn’t pose an issue to federalism because states can petition the department for exemption under the Energy Policy and Conservation Act.
    In the letter, the attorneys general said the ruling does pose issues regarding federalism. The letter said that the proposed standards would preempt state procurement rules and state institutions consume energy, including natural gas.

    The department’s also relying too much on the social costs of carbon, methane and nitrous oxide because the IWG’s model is flawed. The attorneys general said the department should exclude intrastate commerce in stoves and ovens from any final standards to avoid constitutional issues with the regulation.
    “At a minimum, the Department must adjust its analysis to reflect the fact that the federal government can regulate purely intrastate activity under the Commerce Clause only where such activity has a substantial effect on interstate commerce,” the letter said.
    Bird said the ruling’s a power grab from the Biden Administration to advance its goals regarding climate change.
    “While Americans struggle to make ends meet, Biden wants to ban the sale of most gas stoves and burden Americans with higher costs,” she said. “We must hold the federal government accountable.”
    Louisiana and Tennessee led the letter.
    Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said in a statement that the rule’s an unlawful, unattainable green energy fantasy.
    The attorneys general from Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and Virginia also signed the letter.

    Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase Bank and one of the most influential business executives in the United States, has voiced his reservations over the Biden administration’s drive for electric vehicles, claiming that it poses a threat to national security.
    It is possible that “China’s… and its economic might to dominate batteries, rare earths, semiconductors, or EVs,” as Dimon put it in the company’s 2022 annual report released on Monday, could threaten national security by disrupting access to these products and minerals. We must not allow another country to gain control over these strategic assets.

    China controls 85% of the world’s rare-earth elements.

    While the U.S. government and citizens alike see the urgent need to lessen reliance on China for electric vehicle batteries and semiconductors, they also recognize that the US is still a long way from achieving this goal.
    During a recent appearance before the House, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland discussed just these kinds of concerns.
    Republican Representative Guy Reschenthaler questioned her if she agreed that “electric vehicles and renewables expand our dependency on China, correct?” and she said, “Sure, Fine.”
    On Tuesday, the government seemed to take the next step in its ongoing campaign to end fossil fuel production in the United States. The White House has announced its intention to offer bonuses and tax benefits to coal communities in exchange for the development of green energy projects on active and defunct coal mine sites.

  • Feds Create Race, Gender ‘Speech Codes’ for Scientists to Use

    The National Institute of Standards and Technology, a federal and science technology office, has made race and gender speech codes for its scientists a top priority.
    The guidance, for example, tells federal employees not to use the words “blacklist” or “whitelist” because of the racial connotations and also cautions against “using terms that assign a gender to inanimate objects, such as male/female connectors.”
    The NIST is a little-known government agency tasked with helping the U.S., among other things, stay technologically ahead of rivals like China. Congress appropriated about $1.65 billion for the group for 2023.

    Lawmakers recently hammered the Pentagon for investing heavily in critical race theory and gender ideology. The National Institutes of Health has done so as well, along with other agencies.  
    The NIST is one of many federal agencies putting its attention and taxpayer funds into these efforts as it struggles to keep pace with its key mission. The NIST sparked controversy for its “Inclusive Language Guidance,” which tells scientists which words or phrases they can or cannot use in reports.
    From the document:

    – Consider that biased terms, such as blacklist/whitelist, also may introduce comprehension issues.
    – Avoid terms such as master/slave that perpetuate negative stereotypes or unequal power relationships.
    – Avoid identifying an individual’s gender unless necessary for comprehension, or using terms that assign a gender to inanimate objects, such as male/female connectors.
    – Avoid descriptive terms that are condescending or reductive in favor of language that the groups being described would prefer.

    Steven Lipner, chair of the Congressionally authorized Information Security and Privacy Advisory Board, sent a letter to NIST in 2020 recommending the whitelist and blacklist changes as well as the changes for master and slave usage.
    “Many technology and security standards contain racially insensitive language that is both offensive to many of our colleagues and is also, in many respects, ambiguous – technically and culturally,” the letter said. “Examples of such language include using the terms blacklist and whitelist instead of block-list and allow-list and using the terms master and slave.”
    Jennifer Huergo, a spokesperson for NIST, told The Center Square the guidance “was created primarily for the benefit of NIST staff experts who participate in the development of documentary standards as expert collaborators and leaders.”

    “Use of inclusive language helps to avoid potential gaps in understanding that could arise from the use of colloquial or idiomatic expressions that are rooted in particular historical events or regional dialects,” she said. 
    The NIST’s DEI office also promotes liberal ideas around gender and sexuality. The DEI staff page features the preferred pronouns of its employees as the first priority in the bios.
    The issue has regularly been thrust into the forefront because while Americans are largely split on the debate over gender identity and critical race theory, federal agencies have largely embraced it and put millions of taxpayer dollars behind it.
    A Pew Research report released last summer found that while most Americans say there is discrimination against transgender people, “60% say a person’s gender is determined by their sex assigned at birth, up from 56% in 2021 and 54% in 2017.”
    The NIST speech code also links to the American Psychological Association’s webpage on “biased language,” which goes on at length about the myriad of possible genders, and the need to cater to them.
    “Transgender is used as an adjective to refer to persons whose gender identity, expression, and/or role does not conform to what is culturally associated with their sex assigned at birth,” APA says. “Some transgender people hold a binary gender, such as man or woman, but others have a gender outside of this binary, such as gender-fluid or nonbinary. Individuals whose gender varies from presumptions based on their sex assigned at birth may use terms other than ‘transgender’ to describe their gender, including ‘gender-nonconforming,’ ‘genderqueer,’ ‘gender-nonbinary,’ ‘gender-creative,’ ‘agender,’ or ‘two-spirit,’ to name a few.”

    The taxpayer-funded speech guidelines also quote racial theory from a book written by Tukufu Zuberi, a professor of Race Relations and Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania steeped in critical race theory. The book is titled “White Logic, White Methods.” Zuberi also penned an article titled, “Critical Race Theory: A Commemoration.”
    While the U.S. is a world-leader in developing intellectual property, it lags behind in the ability to manufacture it. For example, the source of electric batteries, seen as the future of the green energy movement, is largely overseas. In fact, China made about three quarters of the world’s lithium ion batteries in 2021, while the U.S. made only 7%.

  • Critics Raise Concerns About Strategic Petroleum Reserve’s Decline

    Lawmakers are raising concerns that the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, which President Joe Biden has relied on heavily since taking office, is getting dangerously low.
    Gas prices hit record highs last summer, surpassing $5 per gallon nationally. To curb rising prices, Biden released more than 200 million barrels from the U.S. stockpile, bringing the reserves to the lowest point since 1984.

    “By gutting vital fuel storage to lower short-term prices, the Biden Administration exposed the U.S. to future market volatility and increased supply dependence on adversarial nations instead of supporting an all-of-the-above energy approach to unleash American energy potential,” House Oversight Republicans said in a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.
    Republicans argue Biden used the reserve to temporarily lower prices ahead of the last November midterm elections. Oversight lawmakers say the Department of Energy has failed to provide documents requested in the inquiry despite repeated requests.
    “As a depleted SPR weakens the U.S.’s ability to respond to future supply disruptions, prompt delivery of the requested documents is vital to help Congress ensure U.S. energy security,” the letter said.
    According to AAA, the current national average price for a gallon of regular gasoline is $3.53, up from $3.46 a week ago and $3.40 one month ago.
    Gas prices are poised to continue rising. As The Center Square previously reported, OPEC+ announced Sunday a cut in oil production to the surprise of many who speculate prices could rise significantly as a result.
    Energy prices have soared under Biden’s administration, in part because of the disruption to global oil markets caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine but also because of Biden’s work to discourage domestic oil and gas drilling and pipeline development.

    House Republicans passed the “Lower Energy Costs Act” last week pointing to those very price increases, but the bill is unlikely to get the needed Democrat support to gain traction in the Senate.
    “Only a few short years ago, foreign governments were unable to use energy as a weapon against the United States,” Daniel Turner, executive director of the energy workers advocacy group Power the Future, recently told The Center Square. “Then Joe Biden came along and made OPEC great again. Just last week, the House of Representatives passed a bill to put America back on the road to energy independence and it’s clear OPEC was paying attention. The Senate should pass H.R. 1 immediately and President Biden finally needs to put politics aside and unleash the power of American energy. Otherwise the high prices of food, utilities, and food will continue to punish the American people.”

    Only two weeks ago, 26-year-old Louisville Metro Police Officer Nicholas Wilt was graduating from the police academy.
    Tonight, he is clinging to his life after a “suicidal” employee of Old National Bank in Louisville opened fire on employees of the bank in a first-floor conference room inside the downtown bank.

    The sick individual, intent on taking other people down with him, was live-streaming the violent scene as he murdered four fellow bank employees and wounded eight more.
    In her most recent press conference, Police Chief Gwinn-Villaroel named the victims of the suicidal bank employee. “We have five total deceased, which includes him, but I want to acknowledge with heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family of those who lost their life today: Tommy Elliot, 63 years of age; Jim Tutt, 64 years of age; Josh Barrick, 40 years of age, and Juliana Farmer 57. All four victims of the “suicidal” 23-year-old are pictured below.

    Only 3 minutes after the suicidal bank employee opened fire on the people inside the bank, Louisville Metro Police Officers arrived on the scene.

    An emotional conversation can be heard on the police scanner by a police officer begging for an ambulance for Officer Wilt as he reveals that Office Wilt has been shot in the head. Earlier in the conversation, a police officer can be heard saying that Officer Nicholas Wilt is lying on the steps outside of the bank as police scramble to navigate the situation with the shooter inside behind a window where they cannot see him.
    Listen to the incredible calm, courage, and bravery as the police dispatcher, SWAT team, and Louisville Metro Police Department officers work together to get Officer Wilt to the hospital and safely breach the bank to help the innocent victims inside.


    The killer left a note for his parents and a voicemail for a friend last night, telling him his plans to “shoot up the bank.”

    Louisiana State Rep. Jeremy LaCombe is Third Democrat to Switch to Republican Party in a Month

    Louisiana state Rep. Jeremy LaCombe is leaving the Democrat party and registering as a Republican. He is the third Democrat to do so in just a month.
    North Carolina State Sen. Tristan Cotham switched to the Republican party just last week.
    The Democrat party is becoming too radical for even some Democrats.

    Democrats dealt another blow: third lawmaker leaves party, switches to Republican within a month
    Democrats were dealt another blow from within their own ranks this week as yet another state lawmaker declared he was leaving the party.
    According to a Monday report by The Advocate, a Louisiana-based newspaper, state Rep. Jeremy LaCombe announced he had left the Democratic Party and would be registering as a Republican.
    It was not immediately clear what prompted LaCombe’s departure, however he is now the second Louisiana Democrat in less than a month to switch party affiliations, and the third nationwide after another state lawmaker in North Carolina did the same.
    Last month, Louisiana state Rep. Francis Thompson gave Republicans in the state House a supermajority after he switched his party affiliation, and earlier this month, North Carolina state Rep. Tricia Cotham gave Republicans in the state House a supermajority with her switch as well.
    The switches come as President Biden faces a near-record low approval rating among key groups, including women (43% now vs. 42% low), voters ages 45+ (41% vs. 39% low), suburban voters (41% vs. 39% low), rural voters (31% vs. 30% low) and Democrats (81% vs. 78% low) – Democratic men in particular (79% vs. 78% low), according to a recent Fox News poll.

    “With the help of Donald Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and other defendants, Trump variously unlawfully inflated and deflated his net worth by billions to obtain and satisfy loans, get insurance benefits, and pay lower taxes. In short, he lied to gain massive financial benefits for himself,” Letitia James said in September.
    “We found that Trump, his family, and the Trump Org used fraudulent and misleading asset valuations over 200 times in 10 years on his annual financial statements. These statements were then used to obtain hundreds of millions of dollars in loans and insurance coverage,’ she added.
    Trump is expected to plead the fifth this week, The New York Post reported.

    Former President Donald Trump is due back in the Big Apple this week to be grilled for the second time by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is probing the Trump Organization’s business practices, law-enforcement sources told The Post on Monday.
    Trump is expected to plead the Fifth — or refuse to answer questions to avoid potentially incriminating himself — as he did when he was quizzed by the AG’s office in the case last year, sources from multiple agencies said.
    He is due to fly up from his home in Florida on Wednesday night for questioning by James’ prosecutors at her Manhattan offices Thursday morning, sources said.
    Trump’s civil lawyer Monday declined to comment to The Post on whether her client would be deposed this week.

    This morning, around 8:45 am, a 23-year-old Old National Bank employee opened fire in a conference room on the first floor of the downtown Louisville office, killing four bank employees and wounding eight others; one of the critically wounded is a police officer who was one of the first officers to respond to the call for help.

    Police confirmed to CNN that Sturgeon had been informed he was going to be fired and that he had left his parents a note indicating he was going to attack the bank.
    The Deputy Chief Humphrey of the Louisville Metro Police Department has just shared that the shooter appears to be a former employee of the bank. He also shared that one of the individuals is a police officer who is currently undergoing surgery in the hospital and is in critical condition.
    Reporter Karol Markowicz, named the alleged shooter earlier today as 25-year-old Connor Sturgeon, a recently fired employee of the Old National Bank where the shooting occurred.

    The LinkedIn account of Connor Sturgeon has also been shared on Twitter. Next to his name, the words “He/Him” appear, indicating that he has bought into the leftist narrative that your biological sex is irrelevant and that it’s up to the individual to identify themselves by using their choice of pronouns.

    Connor was another unhinged far-left killer not fond of President Trump.

    Big tech seems to love big government.
    Tech companies and social media companies are now home to hundreds of former employees of the FBI, CIA, DHS and more, according to a new investigation.
    Be careful who you share with on these sites, you never know who you might be talking to.
    The Daily Caller reports:
    Hundreds Of Former Feds Have Flocked To Jobs In Big Tech
    Google, Twitter, Meta and TikTok’s executive ranks have included over 200 former employees of surveillance government agencies, creating an employment pipeline between the government and Big Tech companies, a Daily Caller investigation found.
    The technology companies recruited 248 employees from the DOJ, FBI, CIA and DHS, a LinkedIn search revealed. The hiring occurred mostly between 2017-2022, with several filling top director positions after having decade-long careers in the surveillance agencies.
    Google hired 130 former DOJ, DHS, CIA and FBI employees, the Daily Caller’s key term search on LinkedIn found. Meta, the company that owns Facebook and Instagram, employed 47 people for those three entities who were previously at the DOJ, FBI or DHS. TikTok, the Chinese-based app embattled with national security concerns, employed 25 former DOJ, FBI, DHS or CIA employees. Twitter had 46 executives who had previously spent time working for the three-letter agencies.
    Reed Rubinstein, former deputy associate attorney general under President Trump, told the Daily Caller that Americans should be “concerned” about “terrifying” integration of Big Tech companies and federal agencies.
    “The revolving door has been a feature of D.C. for as long as I can remember. Any business that is heavily regulated is going to be concerned about managing the regulators, and one way to do that is by purchasing them,” Rubinstein said.
