Report: Fox News’ Murdochs Held Secret Phone Call With Zelensky Weeks Before Fox News Fired Tucker Carlson

Reports have surfaced indicating both News Corp executive chairman Rupert Murdoch and Fox Corporation CEO Lachlan Murdoch had conversations with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the weeks leading up to Tucker Carlson’s abrupt and shocking firing from Fox News.
The scoop comes via Semafor, a news outlet founded by former CEO of Bloomberg Media Justin Smith and former New York Times columnist Ben Smith.
Semafor indicates Ruport fielded a previously “unreported” call with Zelensky in the spring while Lachlan had a discussion with the Ukraine President on March 15th.
    So why does it matter?
“The conversations came weeks before the Murdochs fired their biggest star and most outspoken critic of American support for Ukraine, Tucker Carlson,” they write.

This article strongly suggests that the Murdochs talked to Zelensky, and Tucker’s opposition to the US proxy war in Ukraine was a major factor in his firing.
I’ll await confirmation, but one thing is for sure: his removal eliminated the most influential anti-war voice from TV: https://t.co/eZ8DODnsLk

Zelensky, according to one source, did not raise the topic of Carlson’s vocal criticism of him or the outrageous levels of funding for the war during the phone calls with the Murdochs.
“The Murdochs have not revealed which of Carlson’s many provocations triggered his firing, and there’s no particular suggestion that Zelenskyy — whom Carlson had called a ‘dictator’ — delivered the final blow,” Semafor points out.
Still, the report strongly insinuates a correlation between his departure and the benefit it has for Zelensky.
“But Carlson’s firing will immediately relieve pressure on key Capitol Hill Ukraine supporters whom Carlson had criticized on air — and sometimes pressed behind the scenes to change their positions on the war,” they write.
Semafor also points out early on in their article that “Senior Ukrainian officials had made their objections to Carlson’s coverage known to Fox executives.”

    Carlson Called Zelensky a ‘Troll’
Prior to his firing last month, Tucker Carlson was perhaps the only media personality calling for a public accounting of how American taxpayer money was being spent in Ukraine and criticizing Zelensky for his repeated demands for such war funding.
And he did so with some fiery commentary.
Carlson had referred to Zelensky as a “troll” who was repeatedly “shaking down” Congress for more money.
“Zelenskyy is now shaking down our cowardly Congress for more cash at the very moment our own economy and our own borders are collapsing,” the former Fox News host said before playing a clip of the President of Ukraine saying he would need an additional $55 billion in aid.
After playing the video, Carlson really let loose on Zelensky.
“Some uppity foreigner in a T-shirt demanding money for his critical economic needs. We have critical economic needs too, buddy,” Carlson railed. “Who are you, troll? Go away.”

While there has been much speculation that Carlson’s opposition to spending on a proxy war with Russia is what led to his firing, the Murdochs have yet to explain their actions.

Florida Governor DeSantis Signs Bill Allowing the Death Penalty for Child Rapists

A week doesn’t go by without Florida Governor Ron DeSantis making the news. Will he run for President, or won’t he run for President? Did he really eat pudding with his fingers? All pressing questions for the mainstream media.
This week is no different, with the signing of a bill that directly conflicts with a 2008 Supreme Court ruling.
So is the latest move merely a chance to make headlines and rack up a legislative win to tout on the campaign road? I’m sure it does check some of those electability boxes.
Still, it’s also a sound decision, and when you can both do the right thing and pad your campaign strategy, you’ve had a good day as a politician. So let’s look at Governor DeSantis’ latest move to protect those who require the most protection.

Today, I signed legislation that will:– Makes child rapists eligible for the death penalty with the minimum sentence of life in prison without parole  – Impose additional penalties on fentanyl and drug-related crimes targeted at children– Protect Floridians from disastrous… pic.twitter.com/sO1mkcfm0a
    — Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) May 1, 2023

    Death Is Too Kind
The bill Governor DeSantis signed this week allows Florida to impose the death penalty for criminals convicted of sexual battery against children younger than 12. However, the legislation has other requirements. For example, ensuring that, at a minimum, child rapists receive a life sentence for their crime without the possibility of parole.
Prosecutors who wish to seek out the death penalty have to identify at least two aggravating factors, including these two:

    A history of sexual predation
The accused holds a custodial position over the child

    Governor DeSantis pointed out that:
“The perpetrators of these crimes are often times serial offenders.”
RELATED: Mark Levin Accuses Nikki Haley of ‘Selling Out to a Woke Corporation’ After She Courts Disney
According to the Department of Justice, 40% of released child sex offenders attacked a new victim within a year of their release from prison.
The Governor went on to state:
“We really believe that part of a just society is to have appropriate punishment. And so, if you commit a crime that is a really, really heinous, you should have the ultimate punishment.”
Death may be too kind for monsters who snuff the innocence from defenseless children, but I’ll personally take what I can get.

    — Florida’s Voice (@FLVoiceNews) May 1, 2023

    Erosion Of Decency
Within the bill is the following line regarding the sexual battery of children:
“Such crimes destroy the innocence of a young child and violate all standards of decency held by civilized society.”
This used to be a widely, universally held belief in this country. But like all things grounded in common sense and tradition, this is slowly getting chipped away by the radical left.
Just recently, Elon Musk permanently banned an account on Twitter that posted a “Youth Attracted Person” or YAP pride flag in celebration of a holiday called ‘Alice Day.’ Yup, you read that right; pedophilia is getting a rebranding, its own pride flag, and its own holiday.

    — 𝐅𝐑𝐎𝐍𝐓𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐒𝐇 (@FrontlineFlash) April 26, 2023

But this isn’t new; the push to normalize pedophilia versus ostracize it has been around for a few years. Like most things rooted in evil it began in higher education.
Professor Allyn Walker, formerly of Old Dominion University and now of John Hopkins University, advocated for the de-stigmatization of pedophilia by labeling pedophiliacs “Minor Attracted People” or MAPs.
According to the Young Women’s Christian Association, 25% of girls and one in six boys will be “sexually abused before they turn 18 years old”. What do you think will happen to those numbers if YAPs or MAPs become normalized?
RELATED: Transgender Minnesota Lawmaker Pushes Bill to Remove Language That Bans Pedophilia from Being a Protected Sexual Orientation
    Doing The Right Thing
It’s important to note that this Florida bill received reasonably broad bipartisan support in a legislature currently held by a Republican super majority. So we should feel some solace that not everyone on the left has lost their minds on all issues.
Having this bipartisan bill in his pocket is an obvious win for the Florida Governor as he chews on a possible run for the White House. But the truth is, it’s the right thing to do anyway.
    DeSantis points out:
“They (sexual predators) will do whatever they can to satiate themselves at the expense of very, very vulnerable people.”
Children are not only physically unable to defend themselves against predators but mentally and emotionally unable to comprehend such an assault on their bodies and souls. Rape and sexual assault are brutal at best and impossible at most to reconcile as an adult, let alone a child.
Additionally, the fact that 90% of child sexual abusers are adults the child knows is even more nightmarish. Being sexually assaulted or raped by an adult you should be able to trust shatters a child’s psyche and ability to develop a sense of self and safety properly.

Governor DeSantis knows precisely what he’s doing signing this bill, as he highlights below:
“We understand that it will be challenged, but I think it’s right for us to challenge…a decision that wasn’t well thought out, was very narrowly decided.”
The decision DeSantis alludes to is Kennedy v. Louisiana. In this case, Patrick Kennedy was found guilty of raping his eight-year-old stepdaughter.
The state of Louisiana allowed for the death penalty for Kennedy, but when the case made it up to the Supreme Court a 5 to 4 ruling found that the sentence was unconstitutional under the 8th Amendment’s ‘Cruel and Unusual Punishment’ clause.
In the decision, the Supreme Court wrote:
“The death penalty should not be expanded to instances where the victim’s life was not taken.”
Interesting wording. I suppose it depends on how you define having one’s life taken from them.
Raping a child kills the youth of that child, which I would argue is a sort of death. Whether DeSantis runs for the highest office in the land or not, I applaud him for utilizing his authority to force a debate in the highest court in all the land.
And he did it with support from the left. So hat tip to you, DeSantis; perhaps there is hope for this mad world after all.

    Yes. Excellent move.
And the resulting challenge will put people on record once and for as to what they truly support. https://t.co/HIk33xUlAc

  • Former NFL Player Colin Allred Wants Ted Cruz’s Senate Seat – Could Announce This Week

Former NFL player Colin Allred, who pulled off a major upset in 2018 by ousting an entrenched Republican incumbent for his House seat, is reportedly considering a run against Senator Ted Cruz in Texas.
Politico reports that two sources have indicated Allred has been quietly prepping for a run against Cruz for months.
Allred, a Democrat who also worked as an Obama administration official, shocked observers when, as a political novice in 2018, he defeated Republican Pete Sessions in Texas’ 32nd Congressional District, a seat Sessions had held for over two decades.
Sessions would later run for and win in the 17th Congressional District in 2020.
Allred successfully defended the seat twice since his victory over Sessions and it was considered safely Democratic for as long as he wanted it due to redistricting in 2020.

U.S. Rep. Colin Allred, D-Dallas, is set to challenge U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, for reelection in 2024 and could announce his campaign within days.

Both Politico and the Dallas Morning News have indicated Colin Allred will announce his bid against Ted Cruz as early as this week.
He is considered a rising star in the Democrat Party. In fact, so much so that Politico is comparing his political ambitions to those of Beto O’Rourke.
Allred, they write, is an “NFL player turned civil rights attorney” who is “walking a path that helped make former Rep. Beto O’Rourke a national name.”
Nay, O’Rourke made himself a national name by disgracing himself via live-streaming a dental appointment, dressing up in a sheep mask and onesie for a punk rock performance, and crashing a press conference updating the public on an elementary school shooting.

Rep. Colin Allred: Was J6 an act of Domestic Terrorism?

    Is He Doomed to Fail?
If making a national name with nothing to show for it and giving up a safe Democrat seat in the House only to lose to Ted Cruz is what you’re going for then yea, Allred should definitely take the O’Rourke political path.
O’Rourke became a rare Triple Crown champion this past election, falling to Texas Governor Greg Abbott by double digits. That loss meant he had lost races for the Senate, presidency, and governorship all within the previous four years.
He spent roughly $140 million combined to lose to Abbott in 2022 and Senator Ted Cruz in 2018.
“Allred may well follow O’Rourke’s model,” Politico writes.
After all, even though O’Rourke lost to Cruz in 2018, he “developed a national profile that he parlayed into” … “an unsuccessful 2020 presidential run.”
Not the most impressive of parlays. That’s a long route to follow to come to the conclusion that Beto was a perpetual loser. Is that really the path Allred wants to take?

“The Trump presidency was like a stress test for our systems, and we found where there were gaps or things that need to be clarified.”

    — MSNBC (@MSNBC) December 30, 2022

No doubt, Colin Allred will build his campaign against Ted Cruz as a fight for democracy, as he’s long been a believer that the January 6th, 2021 riot at the Capitol was an act of terrorism.
“Whatever happens, I love you,” he texted to his wife that day, describing the riot as “harrowing” and indicating he had “prepared for the worst.”
He has promoted the ‘big lie’ that police officers were killed during the riot.

And, when Brazilians stormed their Congress earlier this year, Allred blamed Trump, who had not been in office for nearly two years, for the ‘fascism’ we were seeing.

Fascism & political violence are contagious. Like Trump, Bolsonaro has refused to accept Brazil’s election results & has placed himself above his country with disastrous effects. We must stamp out this anti-democratic movement in the US & around the world. https://t.co/aXtUL3Dqyr
    — Rep. Colin Allred (@RepColinAllred) January 8, 2023

Indeed, he has all the Squad-level talking points primed and loaded in his likely bid against Ted Cruz. He’s got the same path as Beto O’Rourke lined up.
And when the Senate race is said and done, he’ll be sitting at home watching Cruz be sworn in yet again.

  • Three Years After Pandemic Began, Biden Will Finally Lift Federal Vaccine Mandates

By Cole Lauterbach (The Center Square)
The Biden administration announced Monday that it would lift vaccine requirements for federal employees, Federal contractors, and international air travelers on May 11.
The end of the controversial mandate coincides with the day the administration will end the COVID-19 public health emergency.
“Following a whole-of-government effort that led to a record number of nearly 270 million Americans receiving at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine, we are in a different phase of our response to COVID-19 than we were when many of these requirements were put into place,” the administration wrote in its announcement.
The vaccination requirement for federal contractors and employees was the subject of several lawsuits. In January, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals based in Cincinnati allowed a preliminary injunction on the proposed mandate.
RELATED: Democrat Judge Orders Church to Pay $1.2 Million Fine For Violating COVID Mask Rules
As recently as last month, the Arizona GOP petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to reinstate an injunction on the vaccine mandate for federal contractors while the court challenge continued.
In March, a group of 10,000 employees challenged the mandate, saying the COVID-19 vaccination requirement violated their religious rights under the Civil Rights Act.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security will begin to wind back their vaccination requirement for Head Start educators, CMS-certified healthcare facilities, and certain noncitizens at the land border.
The administration plans to offer further details on the scaling back of the requirements.

  • Bud Light Sales Take Massive Plunge After Dylan Mulvaney’s Transgender Campaign: Here Are the Latest Numbers

Sales of Bud Light have continued their freefall following their controversial Dylan Mulvaney advertising campaign, which launched last month.
Mulvaney, a transgender TikTok sensation, took part in a Bud Light promotion in a pair of videos just weeks ago. The videos received significant pushback from the public.
Now that pushback is translating into a significant decrease in sales.
According to figures reported by Bump Williams Consulting, a firm that specializes in the alcoholic beverage industry, sales of Bud Light plummeted 26% in the week ending on April 22nd.
The trend is actually getting worse as time goes by.
Two weeks prior to that sales had dropped 11%. The following week they were down 21%. Now, 26%. Where is the bottom on this thing?

That it happened in spite of many prominent voices on the right saying not to boycott is also impressive. https://t.co/nDmEA4rFNm

But he says if the trend isn’t reversed soon – if sales continue to tuck and run as it were – their status at the top is at risk.
If the decline doesn’t stop soon, he said, “Bud Light is in serious trouble this year.”
Williams added, “And I think it runs the risk of losing that No. 1 position at the end of calendar year 2023 to Modelo Especial.”

Though the numbers have shifted in recent years, more men drink beer in general than women and of those, men far outpace women in choosing Bud Light as their beverage of choice.
Younger single men used to drink to loosen up, socialize, and meet women. Turns out they’re not big fans of their beer celebrating men turning into women.
Odd how that works. Could they have misread their consumer base any worse?

The figures include sales at grocery stores, convenience stores, and liquor stores.
Retail consumer purchases are the cornerstone of the Beer business model. This is where customer loyalty is EVERYTHING. Bud Light betrayed its customers.

The numbers, at least for now, seem to be bearing this out. People aren’t just threatening to stop buying Bud Light. They’re actually not buying Bud Light.
And it’s created a cascading effect. Williams states that the plunge in Bud Light’s sales is hitting beer distributors especially hard, “costing them millions of dollars every day.”

$8 Billion in U.S. Funds May Have Gone to the Taliban

    By Adam Andrzejewski for RealClearInvestigations
Since the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan in the summer of 2021, the U.S. has continued sending money to the country in the form of humanitarian aid. Now, a watchdog claims that the U.S. can’t be confident that our $8 billion of aid to Afghanistan isn’t funding the Taliban.
John Sopko, the Special Inspector General to Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), recently testified before the House Oversight Committee, “Unfortunately, as I sit here today, I cannot assure this committee or the American taxpayer we are not currently funding the Taliban.”

RELATED: GOP Drafts Articles of Impeachment Against Defense Secretary Austin for Afghan Disaster
He continued “Nor can I assure you that the Taliban are not diverting the money we are sending from the intended recipients, which are the poor Afghan people.”
The U.S. has sent Afghanistan $8 billion in humanitarian aid since our military withdrawal in 2021, according to CNN. Biden Administration officials have repeatedly stressed this aid is strictly going toward humanitarian efforts via non-governmental organizations and other humanitarian aid organizations.
Sopko, however, admitted there is effectively no monitoring of these funds to ensure they are not going to the Taliban. The U.S. does not currently recognize the Taliban as a legitimate government.
No effective oversight means U.S. funds could end up in the wrong hands, “subjected to waste, fraud, and abuse,” SIGAR wrote.
The U.S. needs to seriously reevaluate its funding and monitoring processes to ensure taxpayer dollars are actually helping the Afghan people, and not ending up of in the hands of the brutal and barbaric Taliban government.

First Republic’s collapse is the biggest bank failure since the 2008 financial crisis, when the federal government bailed out banks with billions of taxpayer dollars. In this new deal, JP Morgan took on about $92 billion in First Republic’s deposits and another roughly $203 billion in assets.
“JPM is paying about $10.6 billion, but is getting $13 billion from the FDIC, or in other words, we the taxpayer,” E.J. Antoni, an economic expert at the Heritage Foundation, said. “That means JPM already booked a profit on the deal. Another $50 billion is available from the FDIC to JPM if losses from First Republic’s assets continue to mount. To cover the existing and any future losses, the FDIC will levy a ‘special assessment’ on banks that is passed to customers.”
Dimon admitted his company “modestly benefits” in the deal.
“The service JPM is providing here is to provide a massive amount of liquidity to meet depositor’s demands,” Antoni said. “That will prevent the sale of some $30 billion in securities that First Republic had which have lost value, if sold today. If held to maturity, however, those securities will still pay their anticipated rate of return.”
Other experts say comparing this to a traditional bank bailout goes too far and emphasize that stabilizing the banking sector was necessary for the sake of the broader economy. First Republic is the third U.S. bank to fail since March of this year.
Notably, the FDIC is funded by insurance premiums paid by banks, not by Congressional appropriations.

“I would not call this a bailout,” Gary Wolfram, an economics professor at Hillsdale College, told The Center Square. “It is an attempt to stabilize the banking system. The reason the FDIC was created nearly 90 years ago was to guard against ‘runs’ on banks. Individual banks hold only a fraction of their deposits on reserve with the Fed, and if we all went in to get our money you have the scene from the Jimmy Stewart movie, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life.’
“While J.P. Morgan may benefit, it is taking on $92 billion in deposits that were in First Republic (as well as the loans and securities) and it is large enough that people will probably not withdraw their deposits for fear that J.P. Morgan will fail,” he added.
Antoni argues taxpayers will still foot the bill.
“The FDIC levies fees on banks which are passed on to customers. Anything, like an overdraft fee, contributes to this,” he said. “The interest rate on a loan will be slightly higher and the interest rate you get paid on your savings account will be slightly lower. This functions like a particularly regressive tax because low-income people are much more likely to pay things like overdraft fees. However, the FDIC also has an existing line of credit with the Treasury of $100 billion. Tapping into that costs the taxpayer. Additionally, when the FDIC has really gotten into trouble in the past, the Treasury has not only expanded that line of credit but simply paid for outstanding FDIC bills, meaning those dollars were never repaid.”
RELATED: Biden Finds a New Way to Redistribute Wealth… and Misery
While calling this a bailout is up for debate, the federal government is taking the blame for fueling inflation and then hiking interest rates to compensate for inflation, which is what has put the strain on the banking sector.
“The Fed is offering an alternative to the FDIC guaranteeing all deposits as it did with the other two banks,” Wolfram said. “It is following the Swiss authorities actions with Credit Suisee. The recent swift and large increase in interest rates by the Fed resulted in a sudden decrease in the value of bond holdings of banks, such as Silicon Valley, and now it is trying to deal with the result of this. This is complicated by the massive deficits of the federal government and the Fed’s attempts to deal with inflation caused by the massive increase in the money supply (a 40% increase in M2 that started in March 2020).”

Austin, Texas – Radical left insurrectionists on Tuesday afternoon stormed the Texas State Capitol and shut down proceedings on a bill banning child sex surgeries.
They probably ended up regretting their decision because if there is one law enforcement agency in America that does not screw around, it is the Texas state police.
The Texas Tribune reported that House Speaker Dave Phelan ordered state police to clear the House Chamber Gallery as the bill came to the floor. Once the gallery was cleared, the vote on the legislation was then delayed until later in the week after a parliamentary concern was raised according to Fox News.
At the same time police were trying to clear the gallery, some insurrectionists unrolled banners in support of child mutilation. They also were reportedly chanting “trans rights are human rights” and singing “we are fighting for our rights, and we shall not be moved.”

There was rioting outside the gallery as well.

Insurrectionists assaulted a woman who was supporting the state legislature’s efforts to protect children. Demons is certainly an apt comparison.

The Texas Tribune reported the agitators had had been at the Capitol since Tuesday morning, awaiting debate on SB 14, the bill banning gender reassignment surgeries for children.
The “fun” for rioters would eventually come to end, however, once the Texas police arrived on scene and “bodied” a few protesters.
The officers delivered a simple message with their actions: don’t mess with Texas.

    Predictably, Twitter leftists started whining.

Wow — watch how these big, tough Texas public safety officers violently manhandled these peaceful protesters, whose only “crime” was demonstrating in the House Gallery at the Texas Capitol against an anti-trans bill.

Kamala Harris on Tuesday delivered a word salad to Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos arrived to the White House on Monday to meet with Joe Biden in the Oval Office.
Kamala Harris and her husband Doug Emhoff on Tuesday welcomed the Philippine president to their residence as part of his 4-day trip to the US.
Protesters gathered outside of the Vice President’s residence as Ferdinand Marcos met with Kamala Harris.
Kamala Harris was her usual awkward self and delivered a word salad to Ferdinand Marcos.
“We have been able to continue to do the work that we have that is a priority around our mutual prosperity and security…we discussed the importance of a clean energy economy. You and I share our passion…as it relates to what we must do in terms of continuing to work together,” Harris said talking down to the Philippine president.
This woman is one heartbeat away from the presidency.
