President Trump has issued a stark warning to Venezuela’s newly sworn-in interim leader, Delcy Rodríguez.
Fresh off the decisive ouster of socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro, Trump made it crystal clear, play ball with America or face consequences far worse than the captured tyrant’s humiliating downfall.
On January 3, 2026, Venezuela’s Supreme Court (Tribunal Supremo de Justicia) ordered Vice President Delcy Rodríguez to assume the duties of acting president. The court cited a provision for “material and temporary impossibility” of Maduro to exercise his functions.
During a fiery press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate on Saturday, President Trump declared that the United States will administer Venezuela “for a period of time” until a safe, “judicious transition” can be established.
At the same conference, President Trump revealed that Rodríguez, Maduro’s former vice president, had been elevated to the presidency amid the chaos following the U.S.-backed removal of the brutal regime.
According to Trump, early communications suggested Rodríguez was prepared to work with the United States to stabilize the country and reverse decades of socialist destruction.
“[Secretary of State] Marco is working on that directly,” Trump said, referring to Marco Rubio. “He just had a conversation with Rodríguez, and she’s essentially willing to do what we think is necessary to make Venezuela great again.”
That narrative collapsed in less than two hours.
In a televised address on the state channel VTV, Rodríguez, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with what she called Venezuela’s “National Defense Council,” condemned the U.S. operation as an “illegal and illegitimate kidnapping” and a “barbaric” act, the New York Times reported.
“We are determined to be free,” Rodríguez declared. “What is being done to Venezuela is a barbarity.”
She accused Washington of orchestrating regime change under “false pretenses,” claiming the true objective was the seizure of Venezuela’s oil, minerals, and natural resources.
Rodríguez insisted that Maduro remains Venezuela’s “only president.” She declared that Venezuela would continue Maduro’s policies and “never be a colony ever again.”
Both Venezuela’s defense minister and attorney general piled on with their own public smears against President Trump and the heroic U.S. military action that finally ended Maduro’s reign of terror.
Unmoved, Trump delivered a blunt ultimatum.
In an interview with The Atlantic, Trump made clear that Rodríguez is now on borrowed time.
“She’ll pay a very big price—probably bigger than Maduro—if she doesn’t do what’s right,” Trump said, adding that his administration would not tolerate open rejection of U.S. authority after the operation that ended Maduro’s reign.
Defending his approach, Trump dismissed left-wing handwringing over “regime change.”
“Rebuilding there and regime change, anything you want to call it, is better than what you have right now,” he said. “Can’t get any worse.”

Trump blasts Ilhan Omar aboard Air Force One
President Trump spoke to reporters on board Air Force One en route to Washington, DC, from Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, and discussed his plans for Venezuela now that the United States has arrested narcotrafficking tyrant Nicolas Maduro.
Trump on Saturday sent the military into Venezuela guns a blazing, and Maduro is now in a New York prison after a roughly two-hour-long operation to capture him. No American military members were killed in the daring, middle-of-the-night operation.
After Maduro’s arrest in Caracas, Trump posted the following video of the strikes, which targeted at least four sites around Caracas, Venezuela. No US troops were killed in the operation.

Maduro is now being held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, and he is expected to make his first court appearance on Monday.
After he was ripped out of his home by US troops and held prisoner on the USS Iwo Jima, Maduro arrived in New York on Saturday evening. No US troops were killed in the operation, but there were several injuries.
Maduro was indicted in the Southern District of New York on charges of Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States, the Gateway Pundit reported.
Trump on Sunday told reporters that the injured troops are “all in good shape.”
“It was amazing that we had a few injured, but all are in good shape right now, but I knew there was great danger,” Trump said, commending the servicemembers’ “amazing talent,” tremendous patriotism,” and “bravery.” He continued, “They got off the helicopter, and the bullets were flying all over the place. As you know, one of the helicopters got hit pretty badly, but that we got everything back, got everything back and nobody killed.”
When asked who is in charge of Venezuela, Trump told reporters, “Don’t ask me who’s in charge, because I’ll give you an answer, and it’ll be very controversial.” He then declared, “We’re in charge.”
Trump further explained that oil companies are going to invest a lot of money and fix Venezuela’s infrastructure. “We’re not going to invest anything. We’re going to just take care of the country. We’re going to cherish the country. We’re going to take care, more importantly, of the people, including Venezuelans, that are living in our country, that were forced to leave their country, and they’re going to be taken very good care of,” Trump added.
“They want to go in so badly,” he said of oil companies.

Reporter: Who’s in charge of Venezuela right now? Have you spoken to the newly sworn in President there, Rodriguez, and what are your thoughts on the entire situation? You said the US would run Venezuela.
Trump: We’re dealing with the people. We’re dealing with the people that just got sworn in. And don’t ask me who’s in charge, because I’ll give you an answer, and it’ll be very controversial.
Reporter: What does that mean?
Trump: It means we’re in charge.

JUST IN: Former NYC Mayor Eric Adams SHREDS Kamala Harris for “Cynical and Irresponsible” Response to Maduro’s Arrest – “Welcome to New York, Nicolas”
On Monday, former Vice President Kamala Harris went on MSNBC to promote her new book and took the time to jab President Donald Trump and call him a “tyrrant,” in a move the White House is calling an incitement of violence. (@RapidResponse47 / X screen shot)
Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Sunday went off on former Vice President and failed presidential candidate Kamala Harris after she came out in fierce opposition to the Trump Administration’s arrest of Venezuelan tyrant Nicolas Maduro.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Kamala Harris rebuked Trump hours after the successful operation in Venezuela that ended the nearly 6-year-long hunt for Nicolas Maduro. Harris got clobbered in the replies after she claimed that Trump was “putting troops at risk, spending billions, destabilizing a region, and offering no legal authority, no exit plan, and no benefit at home.”

Cuban Dictator Miguel Díaz-Canel Threatens America — Vows Cubans Will “Give Our Blood” and Make the U.S. “Pay a Very Heavy Price”
Cuban dictator Miguel Díaz-Canel rants just steps from the U.S. Embassy in Havana
Cuban communist thug Miguel Díaz-Canel has issued a direct threat to the United States, vowing that his impoverished island regime will spill “our own blood” and force America to “pay a very high price” in defense of their fallen socialist comrade in Venezuela.
This comes just hours after President Donald Trump’s bold, decisive military action that finally rid the world of Venezuelan tyrant Nicolás Maduro, a move that has liberals in meltdown mode.
President Trump, true to his America First agenda, ordered a large-scale military strike in Venezuela early Saturday, resulting in the capture and removal of socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores.
Elite U.S. forces executed a flawless nighttime raid in Caracas, seizing Maduro and flying him out of the country to face long-overdue criminal charges for his crimes against humanity and his role in flooding our borders with drugs and chaos.
Cuba, a decaying communist police state propped up for years by stolen Venezuelan oil, is predictably howling about “imperial aggression.”
Havana’s ruling elite knows full well that Maduro’s fall spells doom for their own tyrannical grip on power.
After all, Cuban intelligence has been deeply embedded inside Venezuela’s security apparatus. Without Maduro’s handouts, Cuba’s house of cards is crumbling faster than Biden’s cognitive abilities.
During Saturday’s press conference, President Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio fired a warning shot straight over the bow of Cuba’s failing regime. Trump, never one to mince words, laid it out plain and simple:Cuba is an interesting case. Cuba is, you know, not doing very well right now. That system has not been a very good one for Cuba.
The people there have suffered for many, many years. And I think Cuba is going to be something we’ll end up talking about because Cuba is a failing nation right now, very badly failing nation.
And we want to help the people. It’s very similar in the sense that we want to help the people in Cuba, but we want to also help the people that were forced out of Cuba and living in this country.
On Sunday, Rubio expanded on the warning during an appearance with NBC’s Kristen Welker, calling the Cuban regime a “huge problem” and bluntly stating that its days of operating in the shadows may be over.
Welker: Is the Cuban government the Trump administration’s next target, Mr. Secretary, very quickly?
Rubio: Well, the Cuban government is a huge problem. Yeah, the Cuban government is a huge problem, first of all for the people of Cuba, but I don’t think people fully appreciate–
Welker: So is that a yes?
Rubio: I think they’re in a lot of trouble, yes. I’m not going to talk to you about what our future steps are going to be and our policies are going to be right now in this regard. But I don’t think it’s any mystery that we are not big fans of the Cuban regime, who, by the way, are the ones that were propping up Maduro. His entire like internal security force, his internal security apparatus, is entirely controlled by Cubans.
One of the untold stories here is how, in essence, you talk about colonization— because I think you said Delcy Rodriguez mentioned that— the ones who have sort of colonized, at least inside the regime, are Cubans.
It was Cubans that guarded Maduro. He was not guarded by Venezuelan bodyguards. He had Cuban bodyguards in terms of their internal intelligence, who spies on who inside to make sure there are no traitors, those are all Cubans.
Speaking just meters from the U.S. Embassy in Havana, Díaz-Canel escalated his rhetoric into outright threats against the United States:“The imperialist desire is Venezuela’s oil—it is the land and the natural resources of Venezuela. No, gentlemen imperialists, this is not your backyard nor a territory in dispute. We do not accept or recognize the Monroe Doctrine, nor kings nor out-of-touch emperors.
For Venezuela—and, of course, also for Cuba—we are willing to give even our own blood, even our own lives, but we will make them pay a very high price. These are not times for half measures; these are times for definitions and for taking sides against fascism and imperial barbarism.
Down with imperialism!”WATCH:

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer Praises the Special Forces on Maduro’s Capture, Blasts Democrats for Opposing Trump (VIDEO)
House Majority Whip Tom Emmer was on “Sunday Morning Futures” with guest host Jason Chaffetz to talk about Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro’s capture. Emmer praised the hard work of the special forces to capture Maduro and bring him to justice.
“I think the precision, the execution of this operation was just second to none,” Chaffetz said.
“We’ll never know the names of the people who did, who executed this, but they did so, and they made America proud,” Chaffetz continued.
“Democrats are gonna fight hard in trying to say ‘it was illegitimate, it was illegal, it was unconstitutional.’ What say you?” Chaffetz asked.
“First off, you’re right. Those special forces people. It’s called quiet professionalism, Jason. They just do their job. You don’t know who they are, but God bless them, and God bless this President of peace, Donald J Trump, for being willing to make the call,” Emmer said.
“Let’s be very clear. This was more of an extradition. This was a law enforcement proceeding to capture someone who has been indicted on some very serious charges of killing Americans, of having intent to commit crimes that most Americans may not be aware of, but they are going to now,” Emmer explained.
Congressman Emmer also reminded viewers that Maduro stole his country’s election and is not a legitimate ruler.
“It was the capture of someone who was an illegitimate ruler. He stole an election, so he wasn’t even supposed to be there,” Emmer said.
“This again, was an extradition. This was a law enforcement action entirely appropriate by the Trump administration,” Emmer continued.
Rep Emmer called out the Democrats for their criticism of President Trump’s actions to capture Maduro. He said instead that they should be supporting him for protecting Americans.
“Are they on the side of the American people? Do they care about the victims of the crimes that Maduro and his thugs have committed in this country?” Emmer said of the Democrats.
“We know that this thug, Maduro, this criminal, was literally working directly with our adversaries in China, in Iran, in Russia,” Emmer said.
“This is a really important move by the Trump administration and our colleagues on the other side of the aisle for once they should stand with the American people, instead of just spewing their hatred for our President,” Emmer said of the Democrats.

WATCH: Jack Smith Stutters as He Admits He Called Biden Appointee at DOJ For a Job Before He Was Appointed as “Special Counsel” to Investigate Trump
Jack Smith was forced to admit he called a Biden appointee at the DOJ for a job before he was appointed as “special counsel” to investigate President Trump.
House Judiciary Republicans last Wednesday released a transcript and video of Jack Smith’s closed-door testimony to Congress.
Former Special Counsel Jack Smith appeared on Capitol Hill last month for a closed-door testimony before the House Judiciary Committee.
Republican lawmakers called Jack Smith to testify over his “partisan and politically motivated” Trump prosecutions.
Jack Smith was appointed as Special Counsel in 2022 by Joe Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Trump just one day after Trump announced his 2024 bid for the White House in November 2022.
In June 2023, Jack Smith indicted Trump on 37 federal counts in Miami for lawfully storing presidential records at his Mar-a-Lago estate, which was protected by Secret Service agents.
In a separate case in Washington DC, Jack Smith indicted Trump on four counts: Conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
Smith admitted that while he was working at The Hague over the summer of 2022, he reached out to Biden DOJ appointee Marshall Miller and asked to be involved in prosecuting Trump.
Jack Smith stuttered and squirmed in his seat as he told House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan that he contacted Biden’s DOJ shortly before Merrick Garland appointed him as special counsel.

Jack Smith also said during his testimony that President Trump did not have a First Amendment right to say the 2020 election was fraudulent.
“Absolutely not. If they are made to target a lawful government function, and they’re made with knowing falsity. No, they’re not. That was my point about fraud not being protected by the First Amendment,” Jack Smith said.
Mike Davis, noted attorney and founder of the Article III Project, said Jack Smith must face criminal prosecution for violating President Trump’s constitutional rights by “contorting laws” to criminalize protected First Amendment speech.

THE MADURO TAKEDOWN: Who Supports the US, Who Is Against, as the American Continent Is Divided Over Trump’s Reclaiming of the Western Hemisphere
Trump is reclaiming the western hemisphere.
No one is indifferent to Trump’s assertive foreign policy.
The stunning operation by US forces, capturing Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro and taking to the US and keeping him in custody to face trial, is a historical milestone for our continent.
But it is also a watershed moment in which the political forces in North, Central, and South America take sides in the great geopolitical struggle ahead of us.
There’s an obvious and sharp division between the conservative patriots supporting Donald J. Trump and the leftist Globalists denouncing it.
Here are some of the reactions we caught online:
For the US Arrest of Maduro, we have names like the President of Argentina, Javier Milei. The libertarian celebrated the event as a ‘beautiful moment’.BREAKING: Argentina President Javier Milei gives THUNDEROUS support to President Trump’s Maduro capture

Opposition leader of Canada, Pierre Poilievre, congratulated Trump on arresting the ‘narco-terrorist and socialist dictator’.
Now, of course, the socialist plague still infects many countries in the region, so there are leaders criticizing the arrest of Maduro.
Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, condemned the bombings and capture as an ‘unacceptable affront to Venezuela’s sovereignty’.The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, invoked the UN Charter against the use of force.
Gustavo Petro, President of Colombia, compared the event to violence in Gaza.
Leader of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, strongly condemned the US military aggression as a violation of sovereignty.

Senator Tom Cotton Defends President Trump’s Ops in Venezuela – “Our Military Executed an Amazing Operation” (VIDEO)
Senator Tom Cotton was on “Fox News Sunday” with guest host Gillian Turner to talk about the capture of Maduro. Senator Cotton defended President Trump’s action, saying that the administration did an amazing job in executing the operation to capture the dictator.
“Is this about oil? Is it about drugs? Is it about illegal immigration? Is it about ousting Maduro? Based on the administration’s press conference yesterday, we now know the answer was really all of the above,” Turner said.
“Well, it’s about protecting vital American interests. I’ve heard from too many Arkansan families who have been devastated by illegal drugs flowing into this country who has lost a loved one, who struggled with addiction. Those stories have been repeated thousands of times across the country,” Cotton said.
“President Trump has been clear all along that he wants the flow of drugs from Venezuela to stop,” Cotton continued.
“They were in league with drug traffickers. Also, Venezuela is in league with America’s adversaries. Cuba, and Iran and Hezbollah, and other Islamic radicals,” Cotton continued.
“President Trump made clear yesterday in his remarks that he gave Nicolas Maduro multiple chances to change his ways, and ultimately to leave and go into exile elsewhere, and Maduro refused to do that,” Cotton explained.
“Our military executed an amazing operation that I highly commend President Trump for authorizing, Secretary Hegseth, General Caine, and all of our frontline warriors,” Cotton said.
Senator Cotton explained that the ops in Venezuela were very complex and that our military was the only one that could have accomplished such a task.
“It’s hard to overstate just how complex it was. The United States Military is the only one that could have pulled off this operation,” Cotton continued.
The Senator also reminded viewers that Maduro is a drug trafficker and headed a cartel.
“Nicolas Maduro himself is an indicted drug trafficker and head of a drug cartel,” Cotton said.
“I hope that whatever is next in Venezuela breaks ties with those drug traffickers,” Cotton continued.
“If not, though, I expect the strikes will continue. All of our naval ships are still in place as the President and Secretary Hegseth made clear, they are not going anywhere until we see whether or not Venezuela changes its ways,” Cotton explained.

WATCH: Senator Tim Kaine Gets CALLED OUT on Live TV After Blaming Trump for Biden’s Failures on Venezuela
Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) was left stammering during a Fox News appearance after host Jaqui Heinrich called him out on the Democrats’ failure to hold Venezuela accountable during the Biden years.
The Biden regime offered a $25 million reward for information leading to Maduro’s arrest, but did nothing during its four years in office.
WATCH:
!function(r,u,m,b,l,e){r._Rumble=b,r[b]||(r[b]=function(){(r[b]._=r[b]._||[]).push(arguments);if(r[b]._.length==1){l=u.createElement(m),e=u.getElementsByTagName(m)[0],l.async=1,l.src=”https://rumble.com/embedJS/u2vbt6g”+(arguments[1].video?’.’+arguments[1].video:”)+”/?url=”+encodeURIComponent(location.href)+”&args=”+encodeURIComponent(JSON.stringify([].slice.apply(arguments))),e.parentNode.insertBefore(l,e)}})}(window, document, “script”, “Rumble”);Rumble(“play”, {“video”:”v71n52y”,”div”:”rumble_v71n52y”});
And now the Democrats are furious, claiming that the operation was illegal and required congressional approval.
Kaine on Sunday attempted to lecture Heinrich on how Trump pushed allies away from supporting the US, and it’s not the Democrats’ fault that Biden couldn’t enforce sanctions, trade restrictions, and embargoes, or seize vessels. But she fired back, questioning why he’s blaming allies and Trump when the Democrats let everyone take advantage of America.
Kaine then became flustered, again blaming Republicans before he gave a word salad answer about Virginia being a pro-military state that is tired of “endless wars.”
WATCH:
Heinrich: I think a lot of Republicans would dispute the notion that this was an invasion at all. But moreover, if Democrats cared so much about process, why didn’t they do anything to bring Maduro to justice when they were in charge, when the guy’s been under indictment since 2020?
Kaine: There have been sanctions placed against Venezuela, and I’ll admit, the sanctions have not been as effective as they might have been. And you know why, Jaqui? Because many other nations wouldn’t join us in the sanctions, even though they’ve joined us in sanctions against other nations. And why wouldn’t they? They didn’t like the president, President Trump, in his first term, threatening military action against Venezuela, and that caused them to back off support for sanctions.
So, sanctions and going into international forums, and trade restrictions, and embargoes, and seizing vessels that are pursuant to sanction with a court order, these are things that can work. It’s a lot better if you have your allies with us. What we’ve done now is push our allies away, and we’ve opened up—
Heinrich: So, it’s the allies’ fault that this didn’t work? I mean, I think, the point I’m getting to is, don’t you think that America’s adversaries take note when all Democrats can muster is a joint statement or a press conference or some sanctions that are, you know, loose, and take advantage of that, and that’s why the administration is in a position to do this now?
Kaine: If you think it’s right for a president, just on his own say so, willy nilly, to wage war against anybody, I guess that’s an opinion. But why haven’t Republicans brought forth a military authorization? Why are they ducking votes on whether this is a wise strategy?
Heinrich: Would you vote for that?
Kaine: I’d vote against it. I think another war that Virginia, which is a very pro-military state, and I’m the father of a Marine, Virginians are tired of endless wars, and we don’t want to engage in military action that’s unnecessary.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio earlier said in an interview that Congressional approval was unnecessary for the operation because it was “not an invasion” and “not an extended military operation.”
When NBC host Kristen Welker foolishly asked if the United States is “at war” with the leaderless nation of Venezuela, Rubio schooled her, explaining that there is no war. The United States is simply enforcing the law with oil tanker seizures, drug boat strikes, and the apprehension of Nicolas Maduro, a wanted fugitive.
